  1. This start to the year is beyond unfunny. Fans in this city are as tired of hearing about potential as could be possible.

That's especially what worries me. There are actual expectations now. Eakins doesn't get results, Eakins goes.

  2. I like how everyone is all "yay CBC finally has a woman involved in HNIC" (*) but as soon as you make a comment pointing to that fact you get branded as sexist.

    * = Cassie Campbell doesn't count. Convinced she was a cyborg.

  3. I gotta be honest with you -- I didn't like that match much at all. It seemed like it was borrowing a lot of the worst US indy problem

    Hey now... I warned you!

Watched this match today and thought it was pretty awesome if you're a fan of absolutely sick innovative spots and moves that look like they kill the other dude

XMW is all about young guys working with their buddies in front of their friends doing every spot they've ever seen on DVD/youtube. It's not everyone's thing.:)

I would highly suspect you are correct and the referee was someone's dad or uncle. He's worse on the rest of the show - especially the 6 way elimination match they did where he pretty much counts 3 on every move but everyone ignores him.

  4. No video to link to but when CMLL switched rising young star Fugaz from that gimmick to his current Ramstein gimmick back in 2001 he was set for a huge push. However in his debut match he botched a dive so badly and to make it worse he injured himself. 12 years later he is still working opening matches without ever having received a second chance for a push... and to make matters worse the incident is so well remembered the announcers constantly mention it when he appears on TV or when they are discussing awful debuts. Sucks to be Ramstein.

  5. Dunno if this has been brought up but Bryan's been ranting about Battleground coming so soon after NOC and so soon before HITC and arguing that the WWE doesn't need to do 13 PPVs a year and should only do 12.

This talking point always amuses me when UFC runs like 3 major shows in 4 weeks & overall there is at least 1 if not 2 MMA major events per week. (or I assume they are major events since Dave/Bryan spend so much time discussing them)

Wasn't there an 8 hour UFC show the other month? Or back-to-back shows that equalled 8 hours of TV?

  6. I loved the IWRG Sunday main event. Blood, brawling, mask ripping, guys going splat... everything you want out of a stip match. Also, the secret envelope deal was pretty neat.

Fuego/Guerrero Maya Jr./Stuka Jr. vs Invasores from Friday was really fun. Titan/Niebla Roja was good too although they started rough.

The opener was the best match on C3 so you know that show was a total joke.

Maya/Virus was just too short to be anything but we'll fix that this Sunday I hope.

I need to watch Dinastia/Mini Abismo but there's hockey tonight.

  7. I'm now hazy on that conversation but wasn't his whole point that they had lost the crowd because it wasn't the match they wanted and Volador and La Sombra were trying to kill themselves to prove they belonged there? Having that opinion doesn't necessarily make him a hypocrite.

Dave had many points about the match - one of which was that the two guys were shortening their careers taking such big risks and it bothered him watching it. Seems weird to then a week later call an MMA match great (& talk about how much fun it was to watch) when two guys ended up in the hospital. Total hypocrisy.

Dave even went as far as to invent a Sombra knee injury as one of his talking points. "This guy is working on a bad knee and struggling to do all his moves." Sombra did suffer a knee injury a month before the match but was fine a week or two later. He said he was fine, people who work with him said he was fine and people who are around him daily say he's fine. Yet somehow from all the way in California Dave diagnosed him as having a bad knee which was effecting his performance.

  8. Disc 1 Rankings:

    1. MS-1 vs Sangre Chicana - 9/23/832. Atlantis/El Hijo Del Santo vs Fuerza Guerrera/Lobo Rubio - 11/25/833. Satoru Sayama/Gran Hamada vs Perro Aguayo/Baby Face - 4/13/804. Espectro Jr./MS-1/Satanico vs La Fiera/Mocho Cota/Sangre Chicana - 9/30/835. Sangre Chicana vs Ringo Mendoza - 10/28/836. Kevin Von Erich/Mascara Ano 2000/Halcon Ortiz vs Coloso Colosetti/Pirata Morgan/Herodes - 9/23/837. Centurion Negro vs Gran Hamada - 2/14/828. Canek vs Tatsumi Fujinami - 6/12/839. Andre The Giant/Cien Caras vs Alfonso Dantes/Herodes/Sangre Chicana - 198110. Canek vs Don Corleone - 2/14/82

  9. Awesome brawl! Rudos vs rudos is the best when they actually act like rudos instead of one team deciding to play tecnicos. These two teams just went at it from the start with MS-1/Satanico/Espectro deciding the ring belonged to them and not letting any of their opponents enter without a beating. The comeback was fantastic since it wasn't set up a mile away and the crowd was just about ready to explode. The brawl extending into the third fall only with the tables turned made it all the better and I was okay with the low blow finish since the match was all about hate anyways.

One of the better matches of the disc.
