  1. I'm not trying to target you Gregg, but I disagree. The superkick itself is so overused in the company that it comes off as a secondary signature move that will get a two-count for a large amount of its use. See Tyler Breeze as the perfect example of this. Everyone also slaps their things for tons of impact strikes, most of which only get twos because this company tends to indicate that the primary finisher is the only thing that will get three besides a roll-up. In fact, in big matches, sometimes the crowd has even been so conditioned that they won't really get up for the first finisher - see something like Cena/Rock II, where the crowd didn't even buy some of those first finishers because everyone knew that it was too early for the match to end. Anyway, I think that it's hard to pick on these two for doing what most of the wrestlers in this company do - slapping a thigh simply to indicate impact on a strike rather than that a big pinfall attempt is coming up or anything of that nature.

Your criticism seems nitpicky and off-base, in this case, and again, I say this as someone who isn't a big fan of Gargano and Ciampa.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this but on Raw, Nikki Bella went for her "jump off the turnbuckle kick" and her opponent totally ducked it, yet Nikki still slapped her thigh like she made contact.

I think the leg-slapping is so ingrained in wrestling these days that's it's just muscle memory.

  2. I hate when I discover a show after its already been cancelled after a few years to be utterly fun and enjoyable. The Wife and I laugh pretty damn hard when we watch Don't Trust The B In Apt 23. Krysten Ritter is brilliant!

    James

I forget where I read it but someone described Ritter as basically playing the role as a live-action, filthy Bugs Bunny.

    I really liked that description.

  3. btw are Owens and Ryback feuding over some Dianetics shit or something?

Dude, Dianetics has ghosts and stuff. Ryback's thing is more like you buy some real estate in Arizona and then sell parts of it to your friends to sell to their friends, but like instead of real-estate it's good humours or something

I think dream boards are in there somewhere too.

  4.

The version of the Dan Maff story posted is wrong. Nothing to do with anyone underage, just someone close to Homicide. There's more to it than that but it's not my story to tell.

Well aren't you a special flower.

Yeah the 'I know, but I'm not telling' stuff is for middle-school girls and belongs on the playground. That shit is whack. Either speak up or shut up! And that isn't just directed at you mate- I have always had that opinion when it comes to this stuff. Playing the abstract insider gimmick on a wrestling board is the worse.

    Did the dirtsheets say that?

  5.

Oooooh, the shittiest version of Thunderbolts. Yeah, that might actually happen.

    ETA: No sarcasm meant.

SECOND shittiest. Underground fight club was worse by far.

Is it an unpopular opinion to not be a fun of the Warren Ellis' Thunderbolts? Fucking Penance...

First version of Thunderbolts is the only way to go.

I enjoyed Ellis' run on Thunderbolts.

It's by far my favorite version of Norman Osborn.  Ellis wrote him as bug-nuts crazy but very charming and almost rational at times.  I got such a kick out of the 'Caged Angels' story where the team is manipulated by a group of telepaths into nearly killing each other.

Imagine Tommy Lee Jones (or whomever they cast since TLJ was in Cap 1) delivering this monologue in a Netflix 'Thunderbolts' series.

    I'd love it.

  6. The sequence in every Cena match where he shoulder tackles a guy who then will wildly swing and miss Cena, who then gives the guy the Protobomb and then the Five Knuckle Shuffle before finishing with the AA.

I understand every babyface since Hogan has a signature sequence but Cena's feels so unnatural and scripted.

If you're wrestling Cena and he shoulder tackles you why would you ever stand up and swing at him? It has LITERALLY never worked.

If they mixed it up and had someone roll out of the ring or actually succeed in clocking Cena it would make it more meaningful when Cena nails the whole sequence.

  7. So what if Hogan doesn't know the names of the players and the coaches? He's in his 60's. I wouldn't be surprised if he loses his car keys every other day.

Also, Hogan didn't call out Punk. I watched the pre-game show where this all started. The studio guys asked Hulk if he knew that Punk was a Blackhawks fan and Hogan cut a wrestling promo on how the Blackhawks were gonna lose.

For a guy who spent most of his life as a pro wrestler Punk has no idea how to keep from getting worked into a shoot.
