I don't post regularly anymore. These past few comments are the most I've said on DVDVR in probably close to a year. SmackDown threads have always been better in maintaining civility over RAW, so I say a few things in there when I visit. RAW threads got to the point that I stopped going into them. That wasn't long ago. Hopefully, they're more harmonious.
To me "Not anymore" sounds like "They probably found sound other kids to beat up, so you're off the hook!"
I'm not looking to argue about it. Just pointing out what has (or had) been several cycles of that sort of behavior. This place tends to be tone-deaf on certain topics.

The RAW weekly threads would often be taken over by those hate-watching or complaining about a clip they saw on YouTube. So no, someone being interested or liking the same thing has little to do with it.

A few weeks ago, I would have agreed with Reigns/Big E at WM. It can still be done along the way, but for me, the best ending for this story is for a broken Jey going on a redemption arc and finally finding the key to beating Roman. They've already set the table of him not giving up to Roman in matches for his own good. He beat Styles and Bryan clean within a few weeks of each other. They've moved him up to main-event singles stars seamlessly.
With family being the overall arc in the story, it seems fitting that Jey gets to lay claim to taking down Roman and bringing Roman back from the edge.

Too bad hardly anyone here gives that space to anyone who wants to discuss anything that's not in vogue with the majority. That's the point of my original post. Give others the space you want for yourselves. Or what's the point of any message board?

If you or others find no pleasure in it, that's fine. I'm not here to convince you otherwise. I wish the same courtesy was extended in reverse.

The Otis situation is frustrating. The only mistake he made was getting super over as a midcard act. Sadly, they took that as him being ready for a MITB run, which he wasn't. They should have left Heavy Machinery together, let them win tag titles, THEN have Tucker turn on Otis out of jealousy. They rushed the entire arc and brought in the MITB briefcase when it wasn't needed. Unless Otis goes to RAW, having Tucker turn on him now will be wasted. And both guys offer so much more. A shame.

Roman/Jey isn't about moves or technique. It's about the family saga built around simple brutality.
Not having live fans helps the feud because they're great trash talkers. It ramps up the personal dilemma that much more. Their cursing fit the moment.
Were some of the beats repeated from their CoC match? Yeah, but they amped up the viciousness. Using the strap was a great touch, something different without stepping on the next two HIAC matches that were more weapon-heavy. They used it perfectly, with whipping and submissions.
It's the best story being told in WWE. If wrestling is a soap opera on testosterone, Roman-Jey hit on all cylinders. Watching Roman descend into becoming a sociopath who has even a veteran in Heyman shaking in fear is incredible. Having the Usos quit and throw in the towel for each other was tremendous. Bringing Afa and Sika in to crown Roman was the icing on the cake. For me, it all clicked.

Having Retribution lose via tap out was certainly a choice, especially after revealing Ali as their leader. Them getting dusted by the Fiend is much more questionable. Then again, most everyone hates the group, anyway. So aside from Ali's great promo last night, I don't know if anything was actually lost. Not feeling Fiend being inserted into this story.
Ramblin' Rabbit having a family was a revelation. The puppets still entertain me.
The doorman becoming the biggest star from RAW Underground is fantastic, no joke. Some will complain about Riddle, but there's some off-screen stuff going into this.
Kofi-Sheamus was solid.
Lana and the announcer's table: the best duo since peanut butter and jelly. Jokes aside, she's improved a bit ring-wise. Women's tag division is still a mess. I guess Peyton-Lacey tagging is going to lead to a feud, which, BLEH.
El Gran Gordo is a fun idea and would be cool to watch if RAW was in better shape. Having Miz demolish him in a promo made no sense, though.
Strowman-Lee was. . .something. Having Braun go over anyone in any way after being choked out by Roman? I don't get it.
Orton had a good promo, but it ended awkwardly. Having the show cut off as McIntyre threatens to take Orton to hell made sure the night ended with a thud.
Comparing SD to RAW right now is off the mark. SD's main characters have clear motivations. They have cohesion to where, even if a segment misses the mark, the wrestlers can carry them to good episodes. RAW doesn't have this. McIntyre is running in circles, Asuka can't do much until they give her better opponents. Even the Hurt Business is being hurt (pun not intended) by being pulled into the Fiend's orbit. The Mysterio story has gone on too long, but it won't swallow SD whole like the Fiend did with RAW last year when he was challenging Rollins.
It's hard to believe both shows are coming from the same creative team.

If I had to guess, it's to give them an extra layer of clothing in case of a malfunction. The only recent woman who wore shorts and not stockings was Ronda, who came from a sport where she wouldn't have been in the habit of doing so.

That's the point I was making, too. We as a collective shouldn't care about anyone doing OnlyFans. Zelina's a consenting adult and there's no shame in it. But WWE has stockholders and corporate sponsors. Should anyone in those groups learn that she's on a website widely seen as a sex workers' outlet, I can see her getting in trouble with WWE bigwigs. That's 100% unfair, but we know how that sort of thing goes in any public setting. It stinks.

It was a matter of time before someone still connected to WWE would open an OnlyFans page. The big thing is it being perceived as adult entertainment, despite Zelina clearly saying no nudity. That's likely more concerning for WWE than the actual third-party aspect. It shouldn't, especially with so many wrestlers into comic cons and cosplay. But who knows.

Andrade will stay on RAW to be with Charlotte. Likewise, Zelina moves to SD to stay with Aleister. Mickie was showing up under SD's banner on WWE's website. We'll see if that sticks.
They need to send a few women to SD, but that show is built for massive potential. The only real dead weight on that roster so far is Lars.
EDIT: I forgot how Fiend/Alexa hit the stereo Sisters Abigail on Andrade/Zelina. So Zelina may stay on RAW for a bit? (shrugs)

There's a 50/50 chance Jey goes flying off the Cell like his father, so there's that.

Watching Roman manipulate Jey was amazing. He starts with the 'it hurt me more than it hurt you' spiel. He just wanted to help his cousin earn main event money for his wife and children. All the pain could have been prevented if Jey would acknowledge Roman as tribal chief.
Then Roman flips the story. Says Jey embarrassed the family and in turn, broke Roman's heart. Makes it seem like his cousin is overly obsessed with the title. Gives Jey another title match at HIAC. If Jey accepts though, the consequences will go far beyond what anyone can imagine.
Then Roman gives his cousin a hug as he whispers not to accept the offer.
Which he knows Jey will.
Which gives Roman the excuse of demolishing Jey beyond hope this time.
Jey walked into Roman's trap. The match at CoC was just a preview. The actual bloodbath is on October 25.

They're trying to sell us on Retribution being these outcasts when most of the main group--Mia and Dijakovic especially--have been all over NXT, getting title shots. Not that everyone who watches RAW watches NXT. But most will recognize those two at least, goofy code names or not.
And those names--WTF. Slapjack, T-Bar, Mace? Who are they, 4th-string criminals Spider-Man takes down on his way to school?
Everything about Retribution screams low-budget Purge extras.
Having the RAW locker room come out tonight means nothing when they didn't do it for weeks. At least SmackDown fought back, would surround the ring to keep matches from being interrupted, etc. And wouldn't you know--in kayfabe, they don't bother SD anymore. Funny how that works.
Whatever they do with Aliyah, it's going to be bad. Either they have her in a romance with a much older guy or they have Murphy manipulating her so she'll turn against her family and join the Church of Rollins. Both feel exploitative.
Why should I care about Andrade and Garza getting another shot at the tag titles? They'll probably win, just so they can rub it in Zelina's face that they don't need her.
Speaking of Zelina, Asuka should destroy her in 30 seconds.
It's barely been a month and I'm already tired of KO-Aleister.
They had Braun beat Dabba-Kato. I guess they're going to move Braun to RAW full-time and use Underground to build him back as a title contender. (yawns)
The Hurt Business are great. Shayna/Nia could be fun if they had more of a women's tag division.
This show was a mess.

And The Yard is now Reigns Island.
The big takeaway from the Reigns/Heyman promo for me was Heyman's body language. Whenever he cuts a promo for Brock, he and Heyman often stand side by side. With Roman, Heyman was standing behind and to the side. Almost hiding. He also referred to Roman as 'sir' when they were talking with Jey.
Brock has been rough around the edges with Heyman, but there was a sense that they liked each other. Roman gives off no such vibes. And Heyman seems scared of him. This Roman is ice cold. Not sure he's a heel still, he hasn't done anything that bad. That can change if he beats the life out of Jey, though.

Yep. Not being able to use their WWE monikers to promote their outside interests is the key. Which makes the situation much different.

Seems like Bix looked at the contract language. Contracts say wrestlers should ask for permission before doing anything and WWE gets a 10% fee. Folks probably stopped asking whether they could do it and WWE has caught wind of it. That's a bit more understandable, but being draconian about it isn't ever going to be a good look.
There was a rumor going around a while ago about WWE wanting to do a PR/talent agency sort of setup to match wrestlers with promotional gigs. They do that already to a degree, but this was supposed to be a more formal arrangement. If they've got wrestlers making money from outside sources without their approval, that muddies the waters. Not to mention their bigger stars already have signed to legit management firms to start building their non-WWE careers. So they're trying to stop the rest of the roster before it goes too far. Again, not the look they should strive for. Especially when many are missing a big chunk of income because house shows are gone and likely won't come back in any serious capacity.

If winning their tag matches or getting the big spots are the typical indicators, Raquel has moved ahead on the depth chart. They also having her in line for a future match with Rhea, which is nothing to sneeze at.

They've hinted at that a few times: Heyman doing his introduction bit for Roman, speaking in Samoan while saying he understands how Roman was raised as part of a dominant wrestling family. Heyman has referenced his connection to the Anoa'i family several times when interacting with Reigns.
Unintentionally, they've built a 5-year story arc with Roman and Heyman.

As a Black woman who has seen it done way too often, Brandi was 100% code switching. It was a complete embarrassment and I've yet to talk to any Black woman wrestling fan who enjoyed it.
