     Loras is gay

Prove it.  The only evidence they had was the word of a squire who saw him naked and could identify distinguishing marks.  Since squires help lords get dressed and drew their baths it would be more remarkable if he DIDN'T see Ser Loras naked.

All of their evidence sucked.  If the standards of evidence in Westeros were this shabby they could just arrest the High Sparrow under secular laws against mopery and call it a day.  "I have 3 witnesses who saw the High Sparrow expose himself to a blind man!"

No one suspects the Spanish Inquisition.

How long to you suppose the Spanish Inquisition would last if they started rounding up and torturing Ferdinand's family instead of a bunch of suspected Jews whose belongings would pass to the crown if convinced?

  3. This is all baloney.  You cannot forcibly imprison the queen and queen regent on trumped-up phony charges (seriously, how the hell can you take evidence that a knight's squire as seen him naked as indicative of anything other than that he is A FUCKING SQUIRE).  The worst thing to come out of this whole plotline is that it made me sympathetic for Cersei.  Yes she deserves to be brought to justice for her various transgressions against the world but a kangaroo court isn't the proper venue to bring this about.

They can't just kill the High Sparrow.  That is like the Italian government deciding they're going to kill the Pope.  Right now they have one enemy, if they kill him the entire 7 Kingdoms will be their enemy.  Fighting the church as a government is like fighting a cop as an individual.

How is forcibly capturing, imprisoning, and torturing the queen and queen regent not an act of war already?

It never should have come to this.  There is no way for me to believe that this would have been allowed to happen - I find it less realistic than the dragons.

Did we miss a scene where Dany secretly soaked the entire floor with lighter fluid before the meeting?  She knocked over a couple of torches and suddenly the entire ground burst into flame.

I sorta figured those braziers were full of lamp oil or something equivalent.

  6. I finally got around to seeing the 1985 Bears episode which I really enjoyed - I am not a football fan at all, I know next to nothing about football, but of course like anyone else in 1985 I heard so much about this Bears team and witnessed their cultural impact firsthand.  Getting to know a bit about the game-related aspects of this team was fun for me.

But, c'mon, how does "The Superbowl Shuffle" warrant literally 5 seconds of mention and no footage?  And why was the player who made that illegal late hit on Jim MacMahon not suspended from the league?

The Faith Militant have the benefit of sheer numbers and no one wanting to be the first to raise a sword against the church.

Well then why would this be any sort of drain on an army if nobody wants to fight them?

The collected King's Guard alone would be enough to lay waste to the Faith Militant.  They have no edged weapons, no armor, no archers, no training.  They are little more than aggressive peasants, the sort that armored and trained knights have squashed all over the 7 kingdoms.

And the Knights of the Vale are the only army in Westeros that hasn't suffered any casualties at all since the show started, and hence are probably the strongest military force remaining (especially after what's about to happen to the Tyrell & Lannister forces when they try to fight the Faith Militant soon).

The Faith Militant have no armor and fight with truncheons.  A few dozen armored soldiers would carve them up.  If you had Ramsey Snow's "20 good men" it would be over in a few minutes, but since we only have mortals at King's Landing it might take a couple of hours to have a heap of sparrows ready for the pyre.

  9. Finally got around to watching this last night (due to the occasionally gory content of the El Rey commercials I've started waiting until the next day to watch a version with commercials edited out, because I watch the show with my 6 year-old) and boy, I was not prepared for that main event.  My daughter likes Sexy Star, and as if seeing her bleed all over The Temple wasn't enough, hearing "Fuck yoooooou" was a real bonus.  She turned to me and said, "What does 'fuck you' mean?"  I replied, " I don't know, I think it's Spanish."

Father's day is coming up in a month, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a card saying "Thanks for ruining my childhood."  Her mother will help with the design.

  10. The whole season is like one giant episode building towards the Sunset Boulevard scene at the beginning of Episode 1.

I dunno, there was a time when Archer seemed like the funniest thing on TV but that time has probably passed.  "Flanderization" seems to have occurred among the cast.

  11. Well, 2 out of 3 Disciples of Death are gone, I guess I should be happy I got 66% of what I wanted.  My daughter was pretty freaked out by the heart-grabbing sequence which was surprisingly graphic for the show, but by the morning I was ripping out her heart as part of our daily lucha routine.

I hated the cliff-hanger-y ending of the main event, I was fully on-board with the idea of an unsatisfying ending to the bout given its importance to the promotion but I wanted AN ACTUAL ENDING.  This reminded me too much of the old, "Fans we're out of time" cop-out of territories past.
