  1. My armchair coaching might lean too conservative, but this weekend I have witnessed two instances of teams passing on the easy field goal in favor of a 4th down conversion that both teams did not convert. South Carolina's situation should have been a no brainier where the field goal would have put the Gamecocks up by seven, luckily the decision did not bite them in the ass. Boise St had an opportunity to go up 16-0 which also carries a psychological advantage of being up three scores. Though there was no way to know at the time how things would play out, kicking the field goal would have forced Washington to score a touchdown at the end which their offense was unable to do all night.

If I were to use an investing analogy for my coaching strategy; I would rather invest in a solid divided paying stock where a return is almost guaranteed rather than investing in a high growth stock which could yield high rewards, but is more likely to make little money or even loose your ass on.

  2. I came away from today's Group A games.

Canada should win the group but they could be their own stumbling block with nerves and emotion.

    China plays strong defense.

Netherlands are nothing special and if it were not for one perfectly placed goal would only have a single point.

New Zealand is also nothing special. They possessed the ball in the second half but could not do much with it. They are one strong offensive player from being able to make the elimination round.

I am still trying to learn the game so please correct me if any of this is completely wrong.

  3. Ben Miller completely contradicts every argument he makes against ROH by saying "ROH may be profitable and a have lower risk of going out of business"

THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT OF OWNING A WRESTLING COMPANY.

ROH makes money.  They are low rent.  Yes, their shows look terrible, but they pull that shit off.

Truth be told, I work for the Sinclair station in OKC.  I literally am one of the people who aired commercials promoting the show here last Saturday.  I was worried as shit that nobody was going to be there when I went.  The place was nearly sold out.  Yes, it was a 600-750 seat building, but I guarantee that TNA would have booked a larger building, had less people there and lost money.  ROH works within their means and they make money.  Meanwhile TNA literally thinks they are some great angle away from being competitive with WWE.

And you see the end result:  Destination America "fails to renew" TNA and picks up ROH re-runs instead.

I am down with the brown on this one. ROH is doing their own thing and making money while TNA is stuck being WWE light.

  4. I 100% bought into the Bischoff / Hogan TNA run at the start. Even bringing in the Nastys I thought they might have had a good couple of random garbage matches with the Dudleys.

I was with you on this one. I also thought the Claire Lynch angle would have an sensible and entertaining payoff.

  5. I am in for whatever matches I can watch around my insane work schedule. Just like in the Boxing thread I am by no means a soccer aficionado, and would like to learn more about the game parlaying watching the World Cup into loving soccer in general.
