  1. I don't get the Geoff Johns' hate myself.  I'm not a fan of the Nu-52 or the other sales stunts, but I doubt that's entirely (or even largely) Johns' doing.  I assume he does have input, but still....

As a writer, he's still one of my favorites. As far as mainstream comics go, he's probably the guy I most consistently enjoy.

  2. With the head shaved, Barbarian kind of looks like Gigante Tazz.

I think the stache threw me.  I was trying to put together if maybe it was someone else Bobby managed like Lanza, but yeah, when you see the eyes, it's Orndorff.

Barbarian is what Tazz would look like if he had aged better.

  3. Christmas Bounty isn't campy enough for a wrestling-themed Christmas movie. It needs a serial killer Santa or Miz taking out a giant tornado of evil reindeer with an AK47 (proposed title: Thundeer).

    Damn you, ABC Family!

SyFy is saving that for Deerahna (half deer, half pirahna, of course)

  4. - Awareness of, and potential passion for, TNA content.

I'm not sure I'd recommend they hire someone who still has passion for TNA.  Then again, where would they find such a person?  They might be better off posting that they give hiring preference to chupacabras.

  5. I never quite loved KOC II.  I actually like its PS1 forerunner, King's Soul, more.  It always felt stiff and robotic to me.  I love playing old school matches with a lot of submissions and mat wrestling (Inoki vs. Minoru Suzuki is a lot of fun), but, say, Takayama vs. Akiyama doesn't feel right to me.

Fire Pro hasn't aged well for me.  Love the engine and the depth, but FIre Pro Returns strikes me as sort of a lazy effort, personality logic aside.  I still enjoy creating edits with FPR, but playing & simming has lost some appeal.

  6.

I love what they did with Carol here, but there is no way in hell Rick made a bad decision here outside of a character you like being gone. Her position wasn't defensible at all.

Sure he made a bad decision, but that's the essence of his character.

Just watched the episode.  This.  I would probably have made the same decision in Rick's place, but.... it's Rick.  Dude should really consider watching that old Seinfeld where George became successful by doing the opposite of whatever he would normally do.  He'd think about each decision before he committed himself, then do the exact opposite of what he thought he should do.

I'm assuming this decision, like so many others Rick has made, will come back to bite him in the ass.

  7. Anyone watched Dracula?  Thoughts?  I watched the pilot and liked it a lot.  I'm kinda hoping to get caught up on eps 2 and 3 this weekend.

For that matter, is Grimm worth a look?  I remember watching the pilot and not getting into it at all.  I kinda assumed it would be a quick cancellation.  Don't think I've caught even a couple minutes since episode 2 or 3.

Really beginning to like the Crazy Ones after a rocky start.  Probably the only new sitcom I'll stick with.  The Michael J Fox Show isn't doing anything for me and the rest of the new sitcoms strike me as either being bad (Sean Saves the World) or really repellant (Mom, The Millers).

  8. I really want to love S.H.I.E.L.D., but Jesus Christ is it fucking boring as all hell.  Even the characters I cared about in the first couple episodes I can't be bothered with.  I just finally got around to knowing everyone's same.  I no longer care if Skye is a real Marvel character or just a Whedon eye-candy type.

Damn, I never thought I'd say this, but if they wanted to make a series that bridges the movies and keeps events in the Universe going, watch Arrow and take notes.

You're one up on me.  I still can't remember what Generic White Special Ops Dude's name is.  Kinda hoping they kill him off before I have to learn it.

Had to take the Batmobile out for a ride on Halloween! pic.twitter.com/ZZn5c3LF5E

It really has to be amazing to be Jerry Lawler.  Possibly the closest you can get to being a real-life Peter Pan.  Drives the Batmobile, collects comics, still practically a national hero in his home state, gets to go over guys half his age in the ring, still gets over on girls one third....er... one half his age outside of the ring, etc.

  10. How has no one mentioned the moonsault yet?  Mutoh got the move over and everyone and their dog started doing it.  I'd guess the moonsault, powerbomb, and michinoku driver are the three most overused moves of the past 20 or so years.

WWE has successfully killed my desire to see anyone use the flatliner (or a variation thereof).

  11. If you had to choose right now, I'm curious who everyone thinks is going to win the Royal Rumble in January?

Well, Bryan seems to be a no-brainer.  Trips and Stef throw some no title match clause Daniel Bryan's way, try to keep him out of the rumble, and then rig the lottery so Bryan comes in early (1).  Bryan wins the Rumble, beats Orton (Trips, maybe) for the title at Wrestlemania.

Not convinced they're going to go that way, so... yeah, Cena.  Maybe Stone Cold Paul Wright or Sheamus if he comes back in time.

  12. Just watching the Nitro where Flair beat Bischoff for the Presidency of WCW.

The pre match introductions note that it was only for 90 days. How did they get around that one?

Invoked the ubiquitous Wrestling 90 Day Clause (if it happened more than 90 days ago, the booker will assume that it didn't happen, and, even if it did, no one remembers it anyway).  They just waited for the clock to strike midnight on day 90, and proceeded as if everyone forgot.

  13. So anyone else here watch Arrow? I'm enjoying the the show and thought last night's episode was particularly nice. That said, they really do seem to be taking way too much from Batman. Does Green Arrow not have any worthwhile villains in his rogues gallery outside of Count Vertigo?

Just started watching again (watched the pilot + first couple eps last season, wasn't interested.  Watched the last couple season 1 episodes over the summer and the first three eps this season) and, yeah, I'm enjoying it quite a bit.  I didn't realize until recently that Greg Berlanti is behind Arrow (I really loved the entire run of Everwood).

I'm already tired of the new TV season.  There isn't a single show I like more than "sort of" (Once Upon a Time in Wonderland looks promising, but it's only had two outings) and quite a few shows I already active dislike (Mom, the Millers, etc.)  Agents of Shield, the Crazy Ones and Sleepy Hollow may end up being my favorite new shows by default, and I'm not really sold on any of them (though Sleepy Hollow has been quite a bit better than the other two so far).

  14. Have they clarified the FitzSimmons relationship, and I missed it somehow?  I remember watching the pilot and wondering if they were a couple, married, brother and sister, best friends, etc.  I kinda figured they would clarify that in the next couple eps, but... I don't remember them doing that.  Then again, the writing seems aimed at not giving the audience any reason to care about the characters, so maybe that's deliberate.
