  1. How has nobody mention Pretzel bun movement? How did this happen?

Because people realized pretzel rolls are delicious.

Haven't tried the Wendys one because I get the same shit every time on the rare occasions I go to Wendys, but the Sheetz pretzel melts are heaven.

  2. So when are these schools going to learn not to schedule the FCS teams that are actually, you know, good? Kudos to KSU and OSU for bypassing the cupcakes and not taking the easy way out, but YIKES.

    It's lose/lose, really.

Then again, UConn lost to a Towson team that went 7-4 last year and is three seasons removed from a 1-10 season..so there's that.

  3. I've just learned that South Florida is demanding the game not count, due to false advertising, as there is no such state as McNeese in the US, so obviously "McNeese State" is a fraud on the american people ;)

I've heard McNeese State is pissed because they heard they were going to South Florida, and ended up in Tampa

  4. I don't have an issue with it, because honestly, what the hell can you do with Rashad at 205? He already beat Davis and Hendo, got clowned by Jones and Machida, lost to Rogerio...at least him and Sonnen are both coming off wins. They could do worse.

  5. re: the settlement. Only $675 million of that $760 million goes to the players, with $85 million going to research, education, and medical exams. Awards are capped at $3M for demetia, $4M for CTE, $5M for Alzheimers/Parkinsons. They have 20 years to pay it in full, but half must be paid in the first three years.

Another rumor I saw said that the settlement was so low because some players were desperate for money right now. That's sad. Also sad is how little of a drop in the bucket this is for NFL revenues.

  6. So, with the Fox network reshuffling, I haven't seen any plans for Fox Soccer Plus.  I would hope that they just moved all the UEFA and FA stuff to FS1 so I don't have to go and subscribe to FS+, which runs mostly rugby anyway.  That'd piss me off (since I subscribe to the damn sports package and FS+ is the ONLY THING I don't get.)

FS1 aired two of the CL matches live last week and this week (Arsenal and AC Milan), and they aired the others on a day or two delay. Not sure what they'll end up doing for the group stage, though. NBC's EPL Live Extra has been putting the "other" games live On Demand with Comcast...that would be a good model to use for the CL as well. Hell, that would be a great model for the Olympics too

That article from Arnold is pretty misinformed (as is par for the course for him, it appears). Regis' show isn't "averaging" 29K viewers - it bottomed out at 29K. And judging a new network after a week and a half of programming, before their college football and basketball live events have even begun, is fucking retarded. Weekly cards aren't going to happen because ratings are shitty after 12 days. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Do you work for them? Because you've literally only commented in here when we've talked about the FS channels. Having two FS channels is completely ridiculous. Nobody can make a solid argument for that FS2 channel

Nope, but I do have a pretty good knowledge of the sports media industry and am trying to help enlighten people.

FS2 *still* isn't available on Comcast, which is hilarious to me. Apparently Dana said that all of the prelims scheduled for FS2 will be moving to FS1. The only live event on the UFC schedule currently scheduled for FS2 is the Bisping-Munoz Fight Night from England, which is a Saturday show when FS1 has college football all lined up.

Did anyone give a shit about Fight Master at all? The finale with the semifinals is tonight, and all four finalists are 30 or older. The format seemed interesting enough, but I really don't know how well it's worked in practice.

  9. re: Olbermann. A lot of my coworkers have enjoyed it, but here's the issue in my mind: who are they trying to market this show to? Olbermann's brand is so toxic that half of the country is already not going to watch. The coveted 18-34 male demo (like myself) probably has a view similar to mine, in that the show was one brilliant rant, two interviews that told me nothing interesting, insightful, or new, and two segments of highlights that were...well, highlights. So they're shooting for the 35-54 demo that remembers watching Olbermann on SportsCenter in college/their early adult years? Not sure if that's a recipe for success, especially with a good chunk of that population turning more and more conservative as they get older and being more likely to have that negative association with Olbermann's brand.

re: CGW. I can see why some people hate it. I can see why people love it. It's very hit or miss, but the show has definitely improved since its debut (a whopping one week ago, I know). They did their opening segment last Friday about their favorite broadcasters in light of Vin Scully's return to the Dodgers, and their thoughts were some of the most authentic opinions I've seen on a panel/debate show in quite awhile.

  10. The Tebow Jar segment yesterday had me dying. They essentially all took a massive shit on him and chucked a quarter into the jar every time they mentioned him directly or indirectly. It was brilliant TV. Actually, yesterday's episode was probably the best of the five they've done so far...the first segment with each panelist talking about their favorite announcer was great TV.

  11. Simmons fans initially went to Grantland because "DUDE, SIMMONS!!!!". Then, they (myself included) realized that he wasn't one of the best writers on the site (hi, Jonah Keri!) and we stayed for them while ignoring Simmons. Seriously, I can't tell you the last time I read one of his columns, yet I go to Grantland daily.

  12. "Mr. Pass Interference" Drayon Florence just got a pick-six off Flacco because no one on the Ravens knew WTF was going on.

Because Tandon Doss is a worthless fuck that will hopefully be unemployed at this time next week.

    Panthers D is vicious.

  13.

Its been played today already.Fortuneately, he will get 3000 next year and it will be moot.

I dunno about next year, he's 278 away.
FWIW, the Ichiro Hit Count twitter has forever projected his 3000th hit as 8/31/14.

I dunno what their methodology is, but that's an impossibility. Maybe they're equally weighting his entire career marks as opposed to his last three years. In fact, I'd be willing to put money on that being the case. He's not a .320-.330 hitter getting 650+ plate appearances anymore.

  14.

Zuiker is apparently "confident" about a season two. I'LL TAKE IT.

YES! MOAR GILES!Sounds like the huge jump in viewers for the finale may have saved it. I'm guessing that increase was due to a lot of people like me who DVR'd it or watched online but wanted to catch the finale as it aired to avoid any spoilers. Don't the Nielson people have a way of factoring in stuff like TiVo now?

I'd like to see a season two take place at a summer camp and basically be FRIDAY THE 13TH: THE GAME SHOW.

That's a great idea. Just rent out a campsite and set the show there. Bring in Giles as the wacky camp director.I've seen a lot of people suggest they cast a celebrity or two in a season 2. I think it would suck if they added like Joey Fatone or Debbie Harry to the show. If they want to bring in a "name" it better be genre related. Like a Wes Craven. Or, if they wanted to go the Castle route, a famous mystery writer.

I've also heard they want to do an all celebrity season...which is interesting.
