I still need to watch this, probably going to get to it tonight or tomorrow. What's the general verdict: nice start, or starting down the road to garbage?

Jesse choking out Todd was probably the most raw, emotional, personal way to kill someone. And after all the shit Todd put him through, Jesse deserved to do that. I actually jumped up and starting cheering when he wrapped the chain around his neck, as weird as that might sound.

Selig's done a lot of good for the game, but he's also made his mistakes. I like the second wild card, but despise the joke of a one game play-in (INFIELD FLY LULZ). Comparing him to the other commissioners across sports, he's not actively destroying the league like Bettman and he's not a "right place/right time" guy who is peeling back the best parts of the sport like Goodell. He's a lot like Stern in that there have been issues, but the sport has also grown by leaps and bounds.

Sveum out. Bring on Girardi.

Perfect. Absolutely perfect.

I don't know how realistic that is. Torre is already 73. By the time Selig retires, he'll be 74, turning 75 in July. That's essentially just a placeholder.

Henderson Alvarez has no-hit the Tigers through eight.
Wait, what?

The feds didn't raid the cabin (yet, at least). They went to the bar he called from.

Gameday. Evanston. Boom.

The Yankees will offer Dellin Betances, Gary Sanchez, and uh...some other disappointing prospect.

H2H against the Big Bang Theory is death for any comedy. Throw in the X-Factor in the same slot, and Parks was dead in the water.
The grosser part is the Michael J Fox show drawing twice as many viewers.

I'm not sure what the Twins plan on doing next season, but the solid money is on them continuing to be horrible and most of the fan base complaining about Joe Mauer despite the fact that he's the best baseball player to put on a Twins' uniform since Kirby Puckett retired.
Miguel Sano and Byron Buxton could be in the majors as soon as the middle of next year. Buxton was the minor league player of the year this year, and is absurdly good. Sano has power like you wouldn't believe.
Be more concerned about that shitshow of a pitching staff and the bullshit pitch to contact philosophy being preached.

There's gotta be an interleague series every day since there are an odd amount of teams in each league.
That awesome traditional Opening Day in Cincinnati? Yeah, it was the Angels and Reds this year.

Pro tip: don't buy Rogue's Banana, Chocolate, Peanut Butter Ale. It's fucking disgusting, and I don't throw that word around lightly.

The Ken Fang one.

Some team is going to hire Beinfest as a consultant/GM/whatever, and they're going to look like geniuses.

Funny note: the Beadle powder keg was ignited by a podcast she did with a coworker last week where she took shots at NBC like it was going out of style. Apparently, someone from NBC heard about this (which isn't a shock), leaked the news of her show being canceled to a reporter, and then had a meeting with her to tell her the show was done.

There's a big difference between "seeking" and "throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks". I think that Cano rumor is firmly in the latter camp. Him and his agent probably know no team will pay that much...but what if one batshit insane GM offers him something like $220 off of that?
It's like going into a meeting at work looking for a raise. You're going to throw down an initial request way higher than what you actually want just in the hope your boss shrugs and rubber stamps it.
-
For the record, I don't think it's a coincidence that the Braves have gotten into three incidents over the last month plus in regards to opponents watching dingers.
-
Beadle's not leaving NBC...yet, at least. She's still hosting Access Hollywood, and The Crossover seemed doomed to fail from the start when she was cohosting with that doofus who she had no chemistry with.

I was quoting the ESPN story so I have no idea where they got their number from.Their story says they swept Miami & Philly in addition to the NatsEdit - last line of story (I'm on my iPad so I can't pull out just the line)http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=330925124
I think you miscalculated something. 3-4 vs ATL, 4-2 vs MIA, 5-2 vs NYM, 5-2 vs PHI, 5-0 vs WAS...that's 22-10 by my count.BTW - speaking of teams doing well against other teams - how about whole divisionsFirst - the Cards completed the season sweep of the Nats today. They went a combined 15-2 against the NL East
I have no earthly idea where they pulled that shit from. I can't even say "second half", because the Braves swept them.
OHHHHHHHHHHHH. It's *at home*. I have no idea what exactly that proves, but OK. Whatever, ESPN.

I love Philadelphia's beer scene. Went to Tired Hands and a lesser known brewpub called Forest & Main this weekend, and the beers were fantastic. My girlfriend and I have hit nearly all the breweries in the Philly area now, and we can at least start to form a crude rankings system.

Too bad the Tigers or Indians or whoever left in contention doesn't have a series against the Cubs coming up. I hear beating the Cubs to clinch a playoff spot is what all the cool kids are doing these days.
Fuckin' doormats of the MLB.
The Cubs play the Cardinals to close out the year, so they'll probably be celebrating a division title in front of Dale & co too.

Well, live, that's true. Doesn't take VOD, etc into account. Wonder how many people bought episodes on iTunes, Amazon, etc over the previous two months, caught up on DVR, or watched ondemand
