it was really cool. i've seen a fair amount of rap shows before.

Warren G opened. it was solid and i enjoyed it, but nothing to really write home about.

Ice Cube rocked. he interacted with the crowd well. told quick stories (sorta like skits i guess?) to set up his next song. WC was his backup/hypeman, so i was hoping for a Westside Connection song, but alas he didn't play one. Played a good mix of stuff, early solo, recent stuff, collabs, NWA. Ice Cube is awesome. much respect.

Snoop came out and the crowd went insane. [side note, the people in front of me were talking to venue security (i guess it was a friend of theirs or something) and he was saying that they were explicitly told by management not to call out people for smoking, because it was an unwinnable fight. i've seen some shows at this venue where the security were big dicks about smoking, so this was funny to hear.] Snoop rapped everything. he didn't do what so many performers do, with starting to sing a line and then holding out the mic for the crowd to sing. He just kept going, and he was clear and sounded good the whole time. the set was like an hour or more and he was moving around a lot, and never seemed to run out of breath. That might be what impressed me the most. His stage set was pretty simple but had a few ladies pole dancing for almost the entirety. his set list was really interesting, as he didn't generally perform entire songs, but would do his verse, or the main verse of a song, and of course the chorus, and kinda just kept going to the next song. i haven't seen a performer pull off a set like this, but it worked really well here. Maybe because so much of his music is based around features? Snoop's set was absolutely amazing and the entire crowd ate up everything he was doing.

edit: while i'm at it, may as well talk about the Zombies show.

it was fun. like i mentioned in the original post, the venue is so cool. seeing a legitimate Hall of Fame band play there (they usually get up-and-coming or indie bands mainly) really felt special. They sounded good, played tight, and the lead singer/songwriter told some really fun and interesting stories in between songs. It was super hot that day and i got overheated so stayed out of the barn for most of the set.

Sounds like a hell of a show.

I hate when the singers hold the mic out for the fans to sing the song. Jared Leto is the worst at this. Go watch any of his bands shows on Youtube and you will see he does it for roughly half the song on every single song.  Fuck, I paid to hear him sing not the crowd.

I also like how Dave argued that if the women's segments aren't pulling good ratings you need to build everything around Britt Baker again and then several breaths later went on and on about the necessity of sacrificing ratings in order to give time to new guys like Garcia.

Hasn't everything still been built around Baker? She had more promo time than Rosa when Rosa made her injury announcement.  Something that hasn't been brought up is that Penelope Ford was suspended for making a comment to Tony Khan. Not exactly sure what was said but it had to be bad for Khan to suspend her especially right when Kip is on his way back.

Garcia isn't seen as a ratings sacrifice to me, especially as he's being used with Danielson and Jericho both guys known to pop ratings.

Both of his arguments are wrong.  Look at the time they spend on Starks, Hook, Hobbs, all can be considered new guys and all get considerable TV time.

You brought it up in this thread. Don’t know how someone can get big mad over the bait they put down being picked up.

One day you will have something good to add to this site John. I can't wait to see when/what it is.

    Never change.

Of the four in the All Out match, I think the best bet is to stay the course with Storm here, or if it's Hayter, have the finish play out with Baker as part of the final stretch. I personally wouldn't be opposed to Britt being the first two title women's champ because it'd add some gravitas to her boasting but if that happens, it's the inverse of Lex Luger's 97 WCW Title run. Shida would also be great in light of how long her first reign was, she'd also be a two time champ and plus if there's anyone Britt Baker will lose to, it's Shida. She's beaten her several times in singles, and once in a four way as well.

I wouldn't mind Storm winning for a couple of reasons.

    1. It would build to her VS Thunder for both belts.  Maybe ladder match?

    2. Fans still are high on Toni. Give her a long reign under Kris comes back and have them feud over the belt.

Shida is another good choice but is she staying in the US full time?

If Brit and Thunder hate each other it's probably best to keep them away for the time being. Thunder-Brit have had some fun matches but it's time for something fresh.

Hayter doesn't scream face of the women's division to me. Ugh, if it were up to me I'd put Ruby in and give her the rub. She needs something to do.

Would you two either put each other on ignore or just shut up and kiss each other already, god damn.

This guy has an issue with me. It's sad. I said nothing about him at all and he has to go and pull his same shit so I responded. I'm not going to let someone continue to lie over and over. How many times to I have to bring up mods or ask these douches to stop before they do it?  How many have defended me on here saying I'm not Painted?  At this point it's just fucking annoying.

He is free to ignore my posts all he wants. Hell, i'd prefer it actually.

  6. Lots of news seems to be developing about Thunder Rosa. Brit currently trending on twitter over it as well. It's interesting to me because Thunder hasn't really had a memorable reign. Brit cut some great promo's and had some decent matches during her reign. IMHO neither should represent the company as a champion. Ruby was hot for a month before they shifted focus elsewhere, Toni Storm could do it or Athena. The biggest issue with the women's division is that so many of the ladies are left off of Rampage/Dynamite and when they do make it on they are put in meaningless matches.

I just finished night 1 and started night 2 last night.  As you said, great matches on night 1, maybe with the exception of Jonah/Buddy Murphy, which had a shit finish and wasn't great even before that.  Bandido/Bailey was great and I don't get the fans turning on Bailey somewhat.  Maybe the fans saw Bandido as their champion and Bailey as just an Impact guy?  I mean Bailey was super hot in PWG 5-6 years ago before he ran into that visa issue, but maybe these are newer fans/LA fans and there's not much carryover from the Reseda days?  The one guy yelling "fuuuuuuccck yoooouuuuu" over and over at the finish was shitty.  I did love how one fan threw in a CREDIT CARD while they were throwing in money at the finish, with Knox and Bailey being incredulous over it.

The Aramis/Black Taurus bout that starts night 2 has some wild lucha spots in it, stuff I've never seen, like Aramis transitioning a running headscissors mid-move into a behind-the-back armdrag.  There's a brief moment of WTF as the ref botches a count, but they get it back and finish strong.  Good Lucha Things.

have you finished up night 2? Curious on your thoughts.

now that the country has collectively decided that COVID is over, musicians are out en masse again. Here's what i have planned for the next couple of months:

    March: Great White

    April: Snoop Dogg/Ice Cube/Warren G

    July: the Zombies

just heard about the Snoop show this morning, shortly before tickets went on sale. you better believe i jumped at the opportunity. SO pumped for that one. Great White is on my list of Hair Metal bands that i want to check out. the Zombies is the latest show at an old barn (https://www.codfishhollowbarnstormers.com/) that is just damn cool to listen to live music at.

anything coming to your area that you'll be attending?

Would love to hear about the Snoop show. The only real rap concerts I've been to are Jay-Z,  and the Gym Class Heroes/Run DMC.  That show was from 2000/2001 ish.  Was great to see them live but never a big Run DMC fan.

Just saw Third Eye Blind with Taking Back Sunday.  Not a bad show but lots of rain.

Going to see 311 in a few weeks and Goo Goo Dolls/Blue October the week after that.

No because you are dawg. We all know that and we've moved past it. I didn't ask for you to be banned in the first place. So I don't have an issue with your return. I just roll my eyes seeing people say you're getting bullied. Like nope, you're allowed to call out a shit poster's shit posts. That's not bullying. But carry on. You're due for another Polinski name drop or a freak out over an autograph signing issue anytime now.

so since it's cool to respond to shit poster's shit posts I decided to respond to yours.

Again, I am not Painted. Most people have accepted it and like my posts or chat with me in a civil manner. Since you are incapable of doing it that's all on you. You want me to name drop Polinskis?  How about Alexander Polinski from Charles in Charge? Does that make you happy?

Why do mods let you do this shit? It adds nothing to the conversation about wrestling. You just try to stir shit and it's old and overplayed.

I still feel like people are sleeping on this gimmick. There rich asshole frat boys, its a license to print money!

90210 Steve Sanders would have been a perfect douch heel.  Way better than Miz and MJF.  His finish could be the Legacy Key lock

The lack of CAW sharing makes me markedly more interested/concerned with what the roster of this game actually looks like. If the game is short twenty or so people who are borderline important to the promotion (thinking of your Dustins and what have you) and the only way to take care of that is to go back to copying formulas from the internet and having to manually enter them in for a half hour each... that's rough. That's a legit big feature to not have.

I was thinking the same at first, but then I saw a video with Abadon in it.  Abadon is rare if ever on Dynamite or Rampage.  I believe I also saw one with Angelico and/or Jack Evans.  I mean if either of them are in the game the roster would have to be huge right?

I think we end up with a Cobra Kai type deal with the Garcia/Danielson stuff.

    Garcia/Robby chooses Danielson/Larusso over Jericho/Kreese, which causes friction with Yuta/Miguel and Moxley/Johnny.

Hopefully leading to Moxley creating his own Eagle Fang dojo of course.

    Gabe is that you?

Sorry if I missed it if you posted...but how was the show?

It wasn't bad. The people around us were very let down by the short title match. Lots of people yelling bullshit around us. The Main was a spot fest and ended with a weird back and forth between Kenny and Osprey.  Brit Baker was cheered in our section until the terrible towel came in the ring.  Also both teams in the main event were super over. Not sure how it came across on TV but the fact that people went from bullshit to satisfied is a feat in and of itself. I'l probably go to the Toronto and Buffalo shows too as I still don't think you can beat the value AEW brings.

Hope you are doing well Infinit!!

I'm coming to the conclusion that Me and Tony K have different wrestling tastes. I agree with some of the questions about which talent he chooses to highlight.

    Enjoyed the World Title Squash

Danny being the kid stuck between divorced parents

Penta & Fenix getting kicked in the chops after the taunts

I was worried that Dutts pencil was going to put someones eye out

late run of shows have been a bit all over the place

Since I saw Virgil at the show last night I will post this here.

Is anyone else getting Virgil-Dibiase-Piper 1991 vibes from the Jericho-Garcia-Danielson angle?  Maybe it's just me but Garcia is the Virgil to Jericho's Dibiase with Danielson in the Piper spot.

Re: Garcia I think he has a specificity of character that he's able to convey through his work and his mannerisms that really help smooth over his weaknesses in delivery.

Garcia will be face by the time AEW is in Buffalo. I wouldn't be shocked to see him get a huge win at that show over Jericho or his hero the American Dragon.

After lurking the board for 15 years, I finally made an account and my first official post.

I find it odd that people who used to slam wrestlers like RVD and others who were “masturbatory” and sold as much as Circuit City has in 2022 absolutely love Will Osperay and groups like Death Triangle.

    The irony is quite strong.

Btw, I called this in a tweet a few days ago. Punk and MJF will end up teaming up as The Salt of Personality. Heard it here first:

is this Paintedbynumbers?  Hopefully this guy doesn't have to go through the shit I did.

Don't forget the time he was supposed to defend in a 6 pack challenge type match on PPV and was attacked before the match and didn't even get to wrestle on the show!!

Before I get into our live experience at Dynamite, let's turn to Page 26 of my WWF history book, "King of New York:"

----Virgil's ill-advised attack on Royal Rumble winner Studd earned himself a thrashing, causing my daughter to remark, "He's beating up the butler!”----

Guess who sat in from of her at Dynamite?

    https://photos.app.goo.gl/45QnQZjzSRwpmu8T6

    The butler!

What were the first words out of his mouth? "This isn't a good house. Nobody's getting paid tonight."

Virgil and I also briefly discussed his many Steel City Wrestling junior heavyweight title matches with Lord Zoltan.

My wife and daughter laughed when I sang "Judas" with the rest of the crowd. I didn't realize I knew so many of the words!

It was hilarious to see wrestling shirts and title belts from all eras from '80s WWF to current AEW. Punk had a ton of shirts, and Danhausen was surprisingly well-represented.

The fans fully embraced Mox even though he's a Cincinnati guy, so there was no Browns-Bengals thing going on. However, there was a definite Browns-Steelers thing going on in Baker's match, especially when Rebel brought out the Terrible Towel.

So Punk's history in Cleveland now includes:

    • Walking out of WWE
    • Losing his UFC debut
    • Getting squashed by Mox to lose the AEW title

I told the girls, "The best think that even happened to Punk in Cleveland was us picking him up from the airport!"

  18. Front row tonight and cannot wait. My daughter is pumped it's her first live TV experience.  Really hope for a non screw job ending to the main. I'm assuming Hangman comes in and either costs Punk or it's a DQ and we get the 3 way PPV main event.   Looking forward to also seeing what they do with Wardlow as the show is in his hometown.

  19. Dominic Garrini VS Tyson Riggs AIW Fresh Meat 2.  It' was Tyson's first match and was really, really good. Stiff match with some good mat work. Crisp reversals and submission attempts.  Was the opening match on the card and I really enjoyed it.

Also, 2022 has been a breakout year for Alec Price.  If you don't know him you should go out of your way to check out his matches.

I assume Bruce is out shortly. Shawn and Brian is the new Pat and Bruce.

I get more and more concerned about the Triple H era, creatively. Like this dude either only knows one song, or he’s loyal to a degree of broadbased cronyism that even Vince has to be thinking “damn son, don’t you have any other friends?”

Neither is good, and that one song started to really suck when Cole, Gargano and Ciampa sung it for an hour a week.

bring back Gabe Sapolski. See if he has any non gang warfare tricks left in his sleeve
