  1. NFL got the outcome they wanted. No way were the Steelers going to lose this game on the anniversary of the reception. As soon as the 40 yard Josh Jacobs run got called back for TE interference it was over.

I was listening to Bischoffs podcast today and he was talking about if the Fusient deal had gone through, they wanted to set up the Power Plant in Las Vegas for a more centralized location where the training area could turn into a make shift studio.

Which made me wonder. Could a major promotion run exclusively out of Las Vegas? Every week you have your one or two shows from the studio, maybe travel for PPVs or something. The amount of tourists/visitors helping with the attendance? I know it's not a 1/1 example and sports are different (loyalty, etc.) but the Raiders have seen a rise in attendance (moving from around 88-90% of a filled stadium in Oakland to around 95% in Vegas).

I just feel like wrestling could fit like a shoe with Vegas as we have seen with PPVs in the past.

why not? If TNA could run out of Nashville for a yr why couldn't a company run Vegas?

Did you get grandfathered into that with Comcast, or are they running that deal again? I ask because I could've sworn I read like six months ago that they were ending that. If that's back, I might have to defect back to Comcast, because I'm starting to get pissed off with YouTube TV.  At this juncture, the cost has risen to the point that it's just like having regular ass cable -  might as well get it from the same company I get my internet from and save a couple bucks, which was the whole reason I left in the first place.

(Sorry for turning this into the streaming bullshit thread, btw - killing time before Dynamite...)

I don't believe we were grandfathered in. We had Fios and switched over about a year ago. Almost positive they are still doing it.

I would love to know if WWEN has driven Peacock subs.

IIRC, it's the one major streaming service that is unequivocally tanking based on paid sub numbers.

(Funny enough, it's the paid streaming service that I get the most use from by far, as an aside.)

For me Peacock is sluggish a lot more than WWE Network.  But, with Xfinity you get Peacock free. So knowing anyone with Xfinity/Comcast gets it free ( I believe Time Warner does also) it has to have some type of impact. Why pay for it when you can get it free from your cable provider?

Wrestling wise I like what Fite+ is doing.

TV and Movies I love HBO Max.

Funny story on that: even during the NWO, my immigrant, hardcore Catholic grandparents still rooted for Hogan whenever I'd watch at their house - solely because he was one of the only guys back then to wear a crucifix on TV

Oddly my Catholic Nana would always ask if the Undertaker is wrestling.  She also would always remark that William Regal looked like an older version of my cousin Jason.  Man I miss her.

  6. Here's some food for thought. WWE keeps Matt Riddle employed, not only that but they market 4:20 t-shirts to children. This is all fine and dandy because they are making money off of it.  I wonder just how many 4:20 shirts they have sold so far to kids. Kids who probably didn't even know what 4:20 meant prior to seeing the shirt.

Mandy shows some skin, her body her choice, but is fired. Why? Because the greedy billionaire company isn't getting a cut?  Anything else is total bullshit. It's not the risque story some are saying, if it were they would have scrubbed the majority of the attitude era off of WWE Network years ago.  They are butthurt that she is making all of this $$ and they aren't getting a cut.

  7. Smart booking having Andretti win, it gave the feeling that anything could happen and maybe, just maybe Ricky could also pull off the upset.

If you missed my other post in the Dec Wrestling thread, I highly recommend checking out Andretti's run in the MCW Shamrock Cup.  His first round match with Jake Crist is really good and made me seek out more of his work.  I also wonder now that we know the outcome, were those "jobber' chants piped in?  Taz mentioned them on commentary which also made me think they were piped.

Either way I hope the kid is signed.

  8. Mandy has shown pretty much everything and it's her body her choice. The fact she was fired for it sucks but she's got enough people on her side that either she will be asked back, AEW will grab her, or she just sells pics for a living. We don't know if HHH or WWE Management asked her to stop selling pics behind closed doors. Maybe she was warned and just didn't care?

  9. I had $$ on Paddy and thought he lost the fight.  He is such an arrogant prick by how he smiled and strutted around after the fight that it's almost like he knew he would get the decision. The interview after made me hate the guy. But Dana has to be happy because now people will want to pay $$$ to see him get his ass kicked.  Great maketing job UFC.

As for the main event,  yeah the belt should be on Ankalaev right now. How a title fight can end in a draw is bullshit, even Ultimate Fighter had rules in place so that a fight would always have a clear winner. Make them fight another round with the round winner winning the fight if need be.   Based off of social media, fans were not happy with this one.

Women's WarGames tried a bit too hard for flash and was worse off for it with a lot of flubs. The plunder bits slowed it down too much as well. Still plenty of nice moments to go around that is was pretty enjoyable overall. Nikki crazy as she was back in NXT was nice. Dug the callback to her team with Alexa. Rhea had a nice badass moment or two though could have used a few more. Ultimately, I think the wrong team absolutely won. This should have been Rhea pinning Becky or Bianca.

    AJ/Finn was good.

Shotzi/Ronda actually had plenty of decent moments, but both are pretty cold right now. I think expectations of Sasha coming back aren't helping either. If she is gone they need to make an announcement sooner than later. Same if she is coming back. Saying all that I actually enjoyed the match.  I just wish they did more for Shotzi before this. Ronda having a proper gang beyond Shayna to beat beatdowns would help.

Seth/Bobby/Theory was pretty good. Loved how much of beast Lashley was throughout with both Seth and Theory still hating each other too much to even try to team up against him. There were some great setups they paid off well. Theory winning how he did felt fine as well. Feels like he can have a better title run this time around.

The men's WarGames was great. They went for less flash and more story. It paid off very well for them at the end with the Sami/Jey feud finally coming to end. Absolutely loved the finish and post math with Jey hugging Sami. It was amusing how Jey Uso managed to be the only heel in this match. Even after booing Sami lowblowing KO, the crowd loved seeing Sami fully accepted into the Bloodline. Was also good seeing Solo continue to look like a beast. Its amazing how well he carries himself.  As much as people bitched about it NXT 2.0 had some great prospects come in with Solo, Bron, the Creeds, Stratton, Waller, & Hayes. Hopefully how well they are using Solo becomes the norm for the rest.

Good show overall. The Bloodline Wargames was MOTN for me with the US title match after it. Sami being certified so much here really makes me curious to see what they do with him, the Bloodline, and the Undisputed titles going into Wrestlemania.

I could see them having Sami do this as a way to prove himself to the Bloodline. He will ultimately side with Owens and Owens/Sami vs Uso's for the tag belts at Mania is the  end game.

  11. I didn't see anyone mention the commentary yet.  JR must have mentioned money at least 10 times.  "You gotta win to make that money"   So if according to JR it's all about the money, why would Regal screw over the Champion when he is already "making that money"

Like Matt said, they can't have it be premediated

I'm being mostly sarcastic. His promo with Regal is top tier but it was all due to Regal. MJF by himself is a cover band of great wrestlers who give great promos: You hear the hits like CM Punk, Roddy Piper, Ric Flair, even Bret Hart, John Cena and The Miz. He's really not that good and he's largely annoying. His wrestling isn't much better and he tries to wrestle 'old school' but seems to forget psychology and basically is a grounded version of those indie wrestlers who do nothing but flips. His promo at the post-show scrum was insufferable and doesn't leave me a good feeling about what to expect from him going forward.

I feel that if MJF has a long title reign, AEW will lose a significant portion of their audience. Sure, Jim Cornette will be happy but who gives a damn about Jim Cornette?

I agree, the one thing MJF has mastered is the ability to get cheap heat.  I can see why some of the guys on here like him because they strive to do the same thing to pop their 2-3 friends on here. It's pretty sad.

I don't see MJF having a long reign. He doesn't come across as someone you could   A: build your company on  or B:  Be the face of your company.

Your casual person watching NBA or NHL and seeing a commercial for Dynamite would never guess MJF is their World Heavyweight Champion.

    I BET YOU DID.

Kind of hard not to when there are also multiple memes of her sitting on the rope adjusting her hair and her top while waiting for Nyla to leg drop her.  If I'm being honest it was probably one of the top 5 worst AEW matches ever.

    What’s wrong with Jade’s gear?

Also, I think Hayter has my favorite entrance music in wrestling right now. Like, it shouldn’t be, because it sounds generic, but there’s like this change in the music and beat that is infectious and it’s hard not to think of Hayter stomping out to the ring when hearing it.

She had to constantly check on it/adjust the top. I noticed it multiple times during the match.  But Jade winning was never in doubt.

Did anyone else get an early era Flyin Brian feel from Jungle Boy?  The comeback kid defying the odds against a larger opponent.  Makes me sad we never got Pillman Vs Sid 1 on 1 in a cage.

Regal tossing the knucks to MJF is stupid to me. Mox is the kind of guy who would want revenge on anyone that fucks him over and we surely aren't going to get a Regal-Moxley match.

AEW is all over the place, they have Big Cass, Moriarty, Page all over the TV beating up MJF and top guys yet aren't even shown on the PPV?  Not that I am wanting to see Big Cass but still.

It was a good show but nothing really surprised me outside of Jungle Boy's performance.  He looked like a star.
