  1. Just getting around to seeing this and damn, the hip toss onto Strowmans car, and everyone running away!!! Ahahaha!

(ivar?) with the bowling ball strike was goofy silliness that got us laughing. Between Tozawa showing up with the Foot Clan and the constant flashbacks I was expecting the ants and thunder frog from chikara to pop up and invade or something hahahaha. Even goofier ending with the (sarlacc?) monster but that definitely added more chikara vibes, and if we're going all the way silly with the match then that was a nice way to close it. Hadn't seen any of the skits leading up to this match so I didn't really have any expectations but I enjoyed the Warner brothers wackiness of it

Have to agree this felt like a comic book brawl/team up, my cousin joked that the brawl felt like the Avengers brawl from Winter Soldier and then the Foot Clan showed up and totally leaned into comic book territory "now we have to team up" style

  2. For an earlier question-

Would have loved Hayabusa in singles action against Raven, Sandman, Balls, Tajiri, Tazz, Bigelow, Candido and tagging with Jinsei against the Dudleys, any combination of the Triple Threat, Smothers/Guido, Dreamer/Sandman. Add Masato Tanaka to Hayabusa and Jinsei for some 6 man tags even, I'd love them against some of the ECW trios

The timelines may not work out for a few matches but just saying that as far as extended runs, for matches I'd love to have seen, these are some I would have at the top of my list

  3. Don't know if Sarah Stock is still taking bookings but if memory serves she was one of the agents /producers furloughed. She'd make a great addition on camera and especially backstage for the talent imo. And if she's retired from in ring then I think she's a great agent to have around the roster

  4. Crossing Swords, by the Robot Chicken crew I think, is so silly it's a blast. I'm maybe halfway through and the show isn't dragging like I thought it would. Silly mindless fun.

F is For Family, damn. Binged the new season before trying out Crossing Swords and just, damn. So much heart.

So. What is everyone’s top 5 Road Dogg matches?

Only two that immediately spring to my  mind-

Road Dogg vs Al Snow for hardcore title

    NAO vs Funk and Foley

And maybe this isnt a full match but a favorite interaction that jumps out was Road Dogg and one of the Uso brothers during a Royal Rumble. Road Dogg goes for his pop n lock shimmy and the Uso brother just outshimmies him with some outstanding pop n lock

  6. If we're talking strictly influence on others look...

Would Raven be the guy for casual shorts and tshirt during wrestling? I mean what I remember of the 80s and early 90s watching wrestling on TV was either trunks (flair, dusty) or singlets (steiners), or pants (Bret, rude).

But now shorts and denim shorts especially? There's Cena, Homicide, at times B Boy, Balls Mahoney, Axl, etc. Shorts and denim jeans are, what little I've seen of american deathmatch indie feeds, part of the dress code with maybe elbow pads. So would we say that's the influence Raven had on that look or is there someone else (I'm sure there is) before him.

I know denim and a tshirt might be customary for a wild all over the arena brawl, but I'm not talking one off feud ending matches (slaughter Patterson's bloody brawl might be the one in my head). More like tshirt and shorts was their wrestling gear, all the time, match after match, and not just for blow off matches.

  7. Stupid suggestion on my part, what if the Triangle of death triangle meant three countries as in Mexico for Penta Fenix, America to possibly add Archer, and England for Pac Sabian and Havoc?

I love the idea of factions with 4+ members and this lineup would have my interest. Let's them keep Death Triangle as a name, add members from those countries in theory, and then the group name is explained as "Well the triangle represents etc etc etc" explaining it's open to the 3 above. And I'll show myself out now.

  8. Yes, thanks for the reminder! Rock with the spinaround was a pretty flagrant offender with "it's just another move" like he did with one or two others. Sharpshooter might be one, would use it but never finished anyone with it(that I can remember) as it was part of his mid match offence. Jeeze, I'd completely forgot.

That spin around DDT and the "catch one guy for a DDT, catch another guy for a bulldog" are some of the ones I remember now that you jogged my memory there

  9. Around when did the DDT start getting devalued as a finisher? I remember that the Evenflow was protected in ECW as best as my memory recalls, but is there a wrestler or period in wrestling when it becomes just another move? My cousin and I were talking about this watching Dynamite some weeks back and he feels like it lost it's Instant Death status when you had these spinning DDTs off the top turnbuckle by high flyers in the 90s and I'm thinking it was the 00s with the super indies popping up?

But is there a more clear picture we're both missing or maybe don't know about? And if this was covered on any podcast please tell me how I can hopefully find it.

  10. Cassidy being the 15 year old version of Hager had me dying, I literally fell off my seat laughing so hard. Kudos to Jericho, he was killing it all night while at the booth, imo

Had a laugh at Sammy and Hardy. Soon as Matt was Broken, Sammy just bailed tfo like he was going to get Kenny'd again

FTR v B&B, when Wheeler faked the shoulder injury and then went for the roll up pin seconds later, that was slick. I'll echo the idea that B&B might work best as muscle for a guy. Not hired thugs, but a faction, ideally.

I'm onboard for Janella/Kiss. Odd Couple tag teams can bring out the best of each other sometimes. Booker T-Golddust, Team Hell No, Bagwell and Norton are my kind of examples, and maybe these two can spin off some exciting matches and stories ?

I do expect Okada to end up in AEW one day.  He's friends with the Bucks, likes the US, and eventually he'll be pushed down the card in NJPW.  It won't be for 5-10 years though.

We can get slow-motion Okada-Omega at 2028 Double or Nothing.

I'd be on board for that slow motion style absolutely, Ebessan is the first I remember bringing that style around (before Great Khali made a mockery of it ??) and it always cracked me and my cousins up. I'm sure someone else was the first to actually do it but our first exposure to sloth style was the great Ebessan

  12. Speaking of Lufisto and Mickie Knuckles I remember Cheerleader Melissa also having competitive intergender matches around that time frame

This could be some Mandela Effect shit but I remember an uncomfortable match between Melissa and Super Dragon showing her toughness and intestinal fortitude and it's just brutal, assuming this match did happen and I'm not making fake memories of wrestling matches in my head.

  13. Gotcha, this is the no fun zone. ? first I'm not in on the joke and now I can't play along with the joke I wasn't in on in the first place.

I'm weird for "having a checklist" but you dropping in to say I'm taking things literal when I've highlighted that I'm not taking it literally a few times, well yeah you're not weird. Nope. I am. Glad to clear that up.

  14. I expect discussion, certainly ?

People taking random speculation as facts seems to be a dvdvr thing which makes for fun reading. The heated arguments make my lunch go faster when theres pages and pages and pages on something that is pure speculation and yet seeing it talked up as fact.. hmmmm it's the funniest part of the work week skimming them. It's one thing in the What If thread, but it being all over the forum just cracks a smile.

Someone commented that I wasn't in on the joke, hence my comment about the bloated roster. If we treat fantasy booking as fact, then I should jump in and take the fantasy booking as fact too, for laughs. Cole might be coming in, oh but wait, theres this flood of recent signings like Okada as recently as weeks ago. Just where will they fit Cole in the company with so much bloat eating up the producers time???

Now to Lance Storm a bit---?

I don't feel it's bloated at all, they did a pretty good job of bringing in different guys most weeks before the lockdowns and understandably had a limited roster based on region during the lockdown tapings. But I don't find it bloated, not literally. I look forward to the upcoming show they'd landed a contract for, I'd love to see the talent get more tv time and the production crew get more experienced as they get closer to Year One in the books. Take Dynamite, Dark, and whatever the new show for TNT will be. That's plenty of airtime for the roster top to bottom and I'd sincerely believe that theres a few more spots open, but that's just my feeling. I understand if someone feels they're not featuring enough of who they have now, and I wouldn't argue that.

  15. Hahahaha i literally don't but since random speculation and fantasy booking gets treated like confirmed reports around here I figured if we really add up all those "known" signings that were never confirmed by AEW then we have a bloated roster.?

Punk after all, joined aew at their debut ppv in Chicago, going by the "known" signings in this folder, even though he has yet to appear on tv or any other event other than that one Starrcast. Sting was another "recent" signing, Okada was "another recent" signing just before DoN. Gallows and Anderson and a bunch of WWE releases were all "known" to be coming in, even Gulak who somehow worked the front office and is still working for WWE, they're all "known" to be on a contract with AEW. That "adds up" to a stacked but bloated roster. Would they have room to fit in Adam Cole with all these guys that already signed up and have yet to debut?

  16. If the Wild Samoans weren't influenced by Chief Maivia is there any other influence to bring them in?

The real question I'm trying to get to is, what would the modem scene look like if Afa and Sika and their family, including The Rock and his branch of the family tree, never entered the pro wres? No Yokozuna, Samoan swat team, Roman Reigns, etc?

Probably giving them way too much credit for helping shape the modern landscape with The Rock being a massive crossover star. Just wondering, if the dominos fall different, if none of the Maivia and Anoia family enter wrestling, does Vince have a movie studio for wwe produced movies? Do Austin and Hunter get any roles without The Rundown and the other early roles like guest hosting SNL?

Is there a Marine franchise to kind of kickstart John Cena and his semi crossover appeal? I could be completely off missing lots of info but I dont think theres a WWE Network like we know it, theres no publicly traded company, without Rock trailblazing the way to making wrestling "fun"

Sure I'll admit that the Monday night wars brought notoriety and popularity, but after the merger, minus a Rock like breakout star I don't see WWE still being the "entertainment juggernaut" it is today. Austin vs McMahon works for the fans, but say Austin still retired due to health issues, does he try going into movies that aren't direct to dvd? Is there a Smackdown show added to bring more content, and who would be the headliner that it's named after?

    Forgive my blabbering, just curious.

  17. Would there be room on their bloated roster, what with Okada, and all these other agents they picked up that they havent confirmed yet, on his way in? I'm sure he eats up a significant chunk of change, would there be anything left for Cole??

  18. On deer, I worked for this insurance company by 151 and in our campus size parking lot, most especially in the back of the campus, we'd have deer just walking around casually all the time. I heard someone mention once one of the women who worked late second shift actually brushed a deer as she was backing out to leave and it busted her car up and rattled her pretty bad. Needless to say she went to day shift almost immediately and started parking in the front of the lot as there were almost no deer up there with it having much heavier traffic than the back of the lot. But plenty of people did mention having near misses with deer at least about once every two months.

  19. Just outside of Lockhart my brother in law hit a deer driving to work at 6 in the morning last year. It jumped out from some bushes along 183 and fucked up his engine and most of the drivers side. Seeing photos of the wreck we were all astonished that he made it out without a single scratch or bruise, I mean he's doing about 70 when it leapt out and blindsided him. His car is all torn to shit and he's going Golly gee whiz ,it was nothing. ?

For roadkill, the most common whether I'm commuting in the city or the country is squirrels and cats equally tied.

As for my day, I'm feeling a bit burned out but I'm appreciative about being able to go to work through all the recent events since my job is in construction. I'm thankful that we still got to go in and with 90% of our office staff telecommuting I was maybe 1 of 2 in our entire building. The stress is from the general contractors throwing urgent requests at us for work, and it's all long term imo jobs that will take up months to complete but they want the shop drawings and estimates and demo and it's gotta be NOW! NOW! NOW! My boss and manager both say to take it easy, that this is the business we're in where everything is on a deadline and you don't even know anything about the deadline until 3 days past whatever due date they have. And they only tell you about it 3 days past because they only came in a day prior, so its just mayhem all the way, all day.

I'm trying not to let it drag me down and burn me out, and again I appreciate I was able to stay working and for most of the lockdown things had slowed down enough that I was able to make do since we had a smaller workload which wasn't as stressful since everything was slowing down across the board. But with things picking back up, new projects coming up and new jobsites to visit and walk, I just want to take a week off and do nothing. Just couch potato and get some more reading done, play some castlevania and NBA live, just veg out.

  20. If endlessly debating one guys random musings for pages and pages, getting into heated discussion going in circles and circles about what one guy fantasy booked, if that's not being in on the joke count me as grateful.

Gulak doesn't deserve a raise and shouldn't go to AEW. But he's been in top programs lately. But he's a nobody on 205. But he's taken crap gimmicks and spun gold. Yeah but he won't fit in with that roster. And pages and pages.

Cody keeps taking cheap shots at wwe. Yeah but triple h and pissant company. Yeah but cody.. Yeah but.. Pages and pages.

Kinda glad that I fail to get the joke over the endless debates that go nowhere because random fantasy booking/speculation posts almost never pans out.

Rather read them and have a chuckle.

He probably never was, but this eliminates all the unnecessary "what if's?".

    Lmao

Like what if Okada is the last one for the casino battle royale? What if its Drew Gulak??

What if The Sombra doesn't know??? hahaha ? Not a cheap shot, just love how one guy thinking out loud on a message board is almost always treated as certified verified fact and gets debated or treated as a credible source for pages and pages. Fantasy booking being treated as legitimate breaking news always makes the day go faster at work ???

I want to not fully judge this until seeing how this happened.  But given Nia's history she's sadly someone who's guilty until proven innocent when it comes to these type of things.  Feel for Kairi though as with all that's been going on this was the last thing she needed.

In just the last year what are the head injuries that Kairi has gone through? There's the TLC match in December, then Jax tossing her into the turnbuckle one, Jax tossing her into the stairs this week. I feel like I might be forgetting one other, possibly, but damn, just those three right there in what less than six months??

I'm almost picturing where she gets stuck in tags for a good while for her safety or even benched?

  23. OC asking for help from the announce crew! ???????

Damnit for speed alone I want to see Darby vs Scorpio Sky 1 on1 if they havent already wrestled

    And OH FUCK! Cabanas fingers!?

That suit Jimmy Havoc has is NICE

Aww dang, Janela just ran thru everyone like Optimus iconic scene in the animated movie where he just crits a bunch of Decepticons! Just needs that "You got the touch!" track

Hahahahahaha! OC climbs on Cages back to let him do the climbing had me losing it!

Wait, is that Vickie Guerrero in the front row?

Jungle boy and MJF had a great hate filled match, love that it didn't need interference

  24. Kinda piggybacking my early question about agile big guys in the 80s..

Is there a dominating looking tag team that didn't actually wrestle to their look and size? Example,  Steiners, LoD, Acolytes, AoP, they all look, IMO, tough as nails and brutalize the shit outta opponents, especially the little guys coming in to get killed.

But was there a team who had the look where both guys looked like bruisers, who didn't have a wild barroom brawl beatdown style that they killed job guys with?
