  1. Perhaps a bit of a random question, but how do you keep track of films you want to watch? That could be either in terms of upcoming films, or even just in terms of films you come across and want to watch eventually.

In particular at the moment, I'm seeing films come up on Metacritic with high scores from the Cannes Film Festival, but I feel that I'm largely going to 'forget' about them as they come from the festival circuit into cinemas/streaming outside of the odd one here or there. That is what has sparked this question.

What are you in to? Here's a handful.

Le Samourai - Alain Delon as a contract killer. Jean Pierre Melville was in the middle of an absolutely incredible directorial run.  Pretty good price point.

In a Lonely Place - Great great noir film. Humphrey Bogart is nasty. Great Gloria Grahame performance. And of course Nicholas Ray just crushing it. Again, good price point.

Tampopo - This one doesn't get a lot of heat today, but this is a great Japanese comedy about food. Really should be seen by more, and I recommend it all the time.

A Face in The Crowd - Slimey Andy Griffith gets pulled out of prison and turned into a superstar. This one gets pointed at a lot because of certain political figures. Great great movie about manufacturing a cult of personality.

I'm open to most things tbf. I was initially going to pick some of the stuff up from the Sight and Sound top 100.

Trying to think of the films I've watched so far this year - 'The Earrings of Madame de...' was one; I tend to like an international film or two and am trying to check out some more classic options.

I like Wes Anderson, but that can largely be ignored as I probably wouldn't buy them.

  3. The interfering with play rule was all about stopping an offside from a player who is twenty yards from play leading to a disallowed goal, which makes a load of sense. However, when the ball is passed to you, you almost stumble over it and your team mate almost collides with you to kick the ball, that has to be an offside. Defenders are moving to deal with you, goalies have you in their sight, all that type of stuff.

Vikings got screwed on one of the worst "missed fumble" calls I've ever seen, of all the times they let it 'play out' they chose a really bad time to blow a play dead.

Why don't they let plays like that play out? Surely if he was down by contact, it'll get picked up on review or challenge?

I put a few more hours into it and I'm really hooked.  There are so many more classes and more options to play with.  It's almost leaning more towards Dead Cells than the first RL.

It's almost a bit overwhelming. Still only a couple of hours in, but as there are so many different mechanics, just trying to get my head around it. However, the room by room combat and puzzling is still as fun as ever.

Rogue Legacy 2 got a surprise Switch release yesterday.  I put about two hours into it last night.  It's mostly good, definitely feels like more Rogue Legacy and I dig the new art style.  It feels like maybe they stacked a couple too many systems on top of it, but that could also just be a bunch of new stuff getting introduced right away.  It also feels a little easier at the beginning than the first one did.  Overall I'm looking forward to sinking an obscene number of hours into it.

I'm really happy to see that it dropped much earlier than I was expecting. Another game to add to the increasing number of new purchases, but I feel like this will definitely be getting a fair bit of my game playing time.

No reason to play it first at this point. that said, you’ll still have to unlock stuff either way. I guess the argument could be made that Afterbirth+ is “easier,” and will speed up that process, but you might as well be doing Repentance unlocks at the same time.

Cheers for the response. What makes it easier? I don't really know too much about the DLC and have only just got Afterbirth on the Switch having played the original version on the PS4.

I heard people discussing the number of fan incidents in the stands recently. It seems there have been like 4 or 5 match stoppages this season for medical emergencies for fans.

There were 3 stoppages alone yesterday - Fulham, Oldham....and another one. Fortunately/unfortunately, only the Fulham one of the ones this season seem to have ended in tragedy.

  9. I've been historically bad at completing games, so decided to implement a 'can only buy a game if completed a game' rule for 2022.

January sees me completing four games:

    - Ori and the Blind Forest

    - What the Golf?

    - Unpacking

    - Ys IX: Monstrum Nox

Naturally, I had begun some of these in 2021. Anyway, it at least means I've completed the most games in one year, let alone one month, for a while. Maybe an exaggeration, but also entirely possible...

Fulham become the first English team to score six or more in three straight games since Everton in '54.

Whilst this was glorious, as a Fulham fan the win against Stoke this weekend with no Mitrovic and Wilson was even better. Coupled with a Bournemouth loss...total beauty.
