  1. I get that Flores has the taint of his Seahawks run, and Seifert has his Panthers run to bring them down, and Flores was viewed as being a puppet for Al Davis and Seifert was riding on Bill Walsh' coattails, but those 1983 and 1994 teams were all theirs.

Winning two Super Bowls with Jim Plunkett should be enough to get you in the HOF.

  2. Even if it's pre-season, it's still NFL football.  Especially that it's NFL football in this media deluge known as the Olympics, which NBC and ESPN are shoving down your throat whether you care about them or not.

CBS Sports Radio says that the refunds to fans will cost north of $4 million, but the Pro Football HOF doesn't actually have $4 million in cash just laying around, so the NFL will probably have to pitch in and help out.

And that's not even counting the inevitable lawsuits from fans seeking to recoup travel costs to the game.

I've heard a couple people saying that those on the grounds crew who were responsible for using the wrong paint should not be fired because of an honest mistake.  When you make a mistake that costs your employer $4 million that they don't actually have, you're going to get fired.

    The Undefeated?

    My bad, yes, The Undefeated.

My local ESPN Radio affiliate aired that "The Undefeated Radio Special" with Clinton Yates, Jill Hudson, and Justin Tinsley back on March 14th where they previewed the website, and I kinda figured they were gonna be in trouble from the get-go.

Hudson and Yates sounded like they wanted to do stories in the style of NPR or This American Life, but focused specifically on black athletes, while Tinsley wanted to focus primarily on Historic Black College sports stories.

Those are two very specific, pointed, niche target audiences and I don't know if that will be enough to support the website in the long run.  If a year from now, Deadspin reports about major staff turnover, and suddenly The Undefeated starts doing more generic, broader appeal stories like "Carmelo Anthony's Favorite Sneaker Stores in Syracuse" or "An Oral History of Derek Carr and Amari Cooper's Friendship," I wouldn't be surprised.

  4. How big was "Today's Special" in Canada?

I know in America it was limited only to us kids who had cable, and i was apparently one of the few kids in my elementary school who actually had cable at the time, so  when Nickelodeon showed the live stage show episode I was blown away by the sold out audience.

Hopefully some of the talent leaving winds up being a blessing in disguise because it'll force them to hire some fresh talent. Keith Lee and Shane Taylor are good picks for sure.

I don't think ROH can be the super indy, all workrate match promotion anymore with NXT co-opting the indy scene. Instead they should focus on having a more diverse roster of guys that work completely different styles.

I still don't understand how the hell Whitmer is still there after all these years.

The Briscoes I understand b/c they share the same conservative, homophobic beliefs as Sinclair management, but BJ...it's like how Bob Holly hung around through the New Generation and the Attitude Era to the start of the PG era.

Superkicks did shut down Mr. Wrestling 3's commentary gig.

Of course that's totally different than Corino being shut down by Kevin Sullivan not liking him better than Whitmer.

I really like the show more without Steve/King/Mr. Wrestling 3 Corino on color.  I hope this is permanent and leads to Corino ether moving to an off-air gig in the front office or phased out of the company entirely.

It's looking like "Pockets of great fun but extremely uneven as a movie."

Which sounds about right considering David Ayer's filmography.  I re-watched "Street Kings" yesterday and nowhere in that film did I see anything that would make me go "Hey, this guy should be directing a $175 million super hero epic."

  8. I'm assuming the "Splash" remake was greenlighted before "Ghostbusters" underperformed at the box office.  Is Eric Bischoff secretly producing these things with the whole 'controversy creates cash' mentality?

"We'll do like Ghostbusters, we'll gender swap the mermaid and make the svelte, fit Tom Hanks character a chubby blonde woman.  This will cause a huge controversy on social media with sexist pigs and fat shamers coming out of the woodwork to attack the film, and all this controversy will cause audiences to turn out in droves for this film.  We'll make billions!!!!!"

  9. Some of these cooking shows on the PBS Create digital sub-channel are a joke.

"Taste the Islands with Chef Irie" is so low budget that it's literally filmed with just one camera inside 'Chef Irie's' Miami condo in his own kitchen as he cooks and speaks with an exaggerated Jamaican accent, but even that isn't enough to fill 22-minutes so they insert Chef Irie talking on Skype to his girlfriend as she drives from her house to his condo to sample this week's recipe.

  10. Ya know what, get rid of Goodell to appease the critics, but then turn around and name former New Jersey school principal "Crazy" Joe Clark as his replacement.

Not the Hollywood version of "Crazy" Joe Clark that was played by Morgan Freeman in Lean On Me, but the real life Joe Clark who from all accounts was a uncompromising, micro-managing, control freak who happily gave out Permanent Expulsions to any student at East Side High who even looked at him the wrong way.

Let's see how bad Goodell is viewed with a martinet like Clark in control.  All of Goodell's critics will be happy at first because they'll have fond memories of Lean On Me (and he's African-American), but then they'll react with horror when Clark signs the NFL up for the WADA anti-doping standards and suspends Cam Newton for two years after Newton accidentally posts a video of himself drinking scotch and Nyquil out of the same glass and then extends Brady's four-game ban to an entire year "on the principal of the matter."

This is easily the worst list ever. Are you seriously telling me that Mike Quackenbush is better than Terry Gordy, Negro Casas and Kenta Kobashi?

I'll always remember the UWF Title Tournament, when Gordy debuted the Tail of the Dragon against Jim Duggan and then immediately transitioned into a Lightning Lock Omega for the tap out.  Michael Hayes, who was at ringside, his reactions to the sequence was just amazing.

Gordy doing the Quackensmash, for a guy of his size, was just amazing.

It said that Rob Van Dam brought "tight strikes...and great selling". I don't think I've ever met anybody who would describe whatever RVD's strikes were as "tight". And I'm pretty sure the only selling he ever did was holding his tummy and kicking his legs after hitting the frog splash.

You guys...I'm starting to think this list might not be very accurate.

So...the guy who wrote this didn't use the Wayback Machine to read old Herb Kunze essays then?

  13. Huh.

Before the DNC, I had genuinely never heard the phrase "Gold Star Family" used for the families of KIA servicemen, so I was very confused this past weekend when the phrase was being tossed around and thought that it was some sort of reference to GoldStar Electronics, the cheap-o Korean electronics company that eventually became LG and who Joel Hodgson seemed to have a vendetta against on MST3K.

So it's basically a video game version of one of those "Star Trek" episodes where Kirk, Spock, and McCoy beam down to a planet with a human society where everyone acts weird, and eventually discover that a super computer is running the place and Kirk talks the super computer into committing suicide?
