Did he just get woke, like, 2 days ago?

Like hammerva said, he "woke" when he realized he was about to get cut and is such damaged goods that no one will sign him so there goes his endorsement deals.

My local NPR affiliate plays a LOT of CBC radio as night-time filler, so maybe he thinks this "Colin Kaepernick: Social Justice Warrior" gimmick will improve his chances of getting picked up by the Toronto Argonauts or something.

Key & Peele should do a skit where Colin subs for Peyton Manning in a Papa John's ad and makes increasingly militant statements while Papa John is trying to film the commercial.

Funny how Michael Jordan goes decades without commenting on race relations or ANYTHING political until most of his endorsement deals have expired except for Nike and Hanes.  (Of course, God forbid Mike speak out against the Chinese slave labor that makes his sneakers....)

  2. After visiting the in-laws, who still have cable, I realize how much I miss Turner Classic Movies and was just wondering if anyone on here uses Sling TV.

Is Sling TV like MLB.TV or NFL Game Pass where the video has this "washed out" look to it due to the streaming?

  3. Okay, enough with these damned "Town Hall" specials on ESPN.  You don't mean to tell me they didn't have any old episodes of Cheap Seats or Roy Firestone that they could have plugged in to that timeslot?

Why are they even doing another one after the first one lost in the ratings to "Big Brother" and all the controversy about Eric Garner's daughter bad mouthing the show because they tried to manipulate her appearance?

I watch sports to escape from the problems of everyday life, not be reminded of them.

  4. http://www.comicsbeat.com/cbr-com-has-new-design-rebrand-no-blogs/

Comic Book Resources has been redesigned and is now like Newsarama and Bleeding Cool, with even more idiotic "click bait" ads and articles and less emphasis on stories about actual comic books.

To get to blogs like "Comics Should Be Good" and "Robot 6" you now have to click on the individual author's page. God help you if you can't remember who actually wrote your favorite blog.

Politicians and civic  leaders who create "bike lanes" on busy streets so cyclists can disrupt traffic and act like they're better than everyone else are assholes. . . . In other news water is wet. http://deadspin.com/peter-king-drives-in-bike-lane-suffers-wrath-of-the-in-1785595153

    FTFY.

Anyways, I guess this goes here:

    http://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/17374929/otl-investigates-implosion-daily-fantasy-sports-leaders-draftkings-fanduel

Outside the Lines and ESPN the Magazine go after FanDuel and DraftKings and reveal that both companies are on the verge of bankruptcy.

Because of all those stupid, stupid, stupid commercials they used to run, I have no sympathy at all for these guys.  Just like when the on-line poker industry got legislated to death, I was so happy b/c of all the dumb commercials they were running on radio/TV.

I gave up on Ballers last season but gave it another shot the other day and it's still bad. Also the Jonathan Silverman looking guy on Ballers is Jane Fonda's son, is there some sorta rule that HBO needs to have the offspring of famous people on their shows?

Presumably it's being done as a favor for Fonda's appearances in The Newsroom

  7. A visual novel from Bioware where you play a newly hired middle management schlub in a giant corporation.

There would be no combat or RPG-style stuff, instead you would have to navigate your way through daily office politics, office romances, and corporate deal making and backstabbing.

You either work your way to the top or be framed as the fall guy in an embezzlement scheme.

This would be a game for those of us Bioware fans who complain about having to do all that tedious combat to get to the next dialogue tree.

  8. After cutting the cord three months ago, I was rudely re-introduced to ESPN this past week at the in-laws house.

Olympics coverage AND Little League World Series coverage 24/7 ad nauseum.  I now look back at my hatred of ESPN America's Cup yachting coverage 30 years ago with fondness in light of this past week.

I wonder if that was the original plan for Reigns/Russev or if they called an audible because the show was going too long?  If they were giving Russev and Lana time off for their honeymoon and whatnot, why not have him drop the title and then get beaten down that bad?

The fans will sympathize and get behind Roman more if he has to win the U.S. title in a tournament, and then defeat Rusev in an epic gimmick match at Survivor Series.

Or, at least that's what Vince thinks.

  10. I guess I'll ask this here.  Is anyone else who uses the "NFL on Xbox 360" app having problems turning off the closed captioning?

About a week ago the CC was active for every NFL Network clip and when I pull up the video controls, there is no button to turn them off.

  11. Stuart Margolin is probably best known as the wacky con artist "Angel" in The Rockford Files.

It was very jarring to see him as Ames Jainchill, an unapologetic right wing real estate developer and firearms enthusiast who sets Charles Bronson down the path of vigilantism in the original Death Wish.

He shows up in the Bronson vehicle The Stone Killer a year later as a Vietnam veteran turned cold blooded mercenary who is hired by an aging Mafia don to assasinate the leaders of the Five Families.

  12. Does anyone remember a Christian-themed anime series from the late 1970's where a group of kids travel back in time in a magic windmill to visit characters from the Old and New Testament?

I remember there was Superbook which featured two kids and a talking, time traveling computer book but I can't remember what the windmill show was.

  13. In the "If a tree falls in the woods" category, Lucky Star finally came out on Region 1 blu-ray last month and Haruhi Suzumiya comes out in September, and the first time I heard about it was when I noticed Lucky Star in the "people also ordered" section on Amazon as I was ordering a new copy of Azumanga Daioh to replace the DVDs I traded in years ago.

Man, when a show dies in Japan, it really dies.

  14. David Richmond-Peck.

Most of you on this board apparently know him as "Olivier Duval" on Orphan Black.

But to me and everybody who has never seen Orphan Black, he's best known as the polygraph operator with glasses who interrogates Keanu Reeves in the trailer for the 2008 remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still and has a psychic seizure.

IMDB says he's had dozens of roles since 2008, but apparently most of them were walk-on roles or bit parts.

They've been half-assing for months for this very reason in a lot of cases, but Deadspin has had a lot of good content realistically. Among the random garbage.

Between the giant animated gifs, the "shared articles," and the dumb ass ads, Chrome is so slow when trying to load any article on Deadspin.

Both Deadspin and Awful Announcing have become poster children for the need for some sort of regulation of Internet advertising.

DICE really does not want to make Bad Company 3, do they?

Battlefield 4 had horrible PR thanks to all the bugs.  Hardline just out and out bombed.

If this game bombs, they'll probably do an American Revolution FPS with musket reloading Quick Time events rather than make Bad Company 3. Hell, if EA ordered them to start work on Bad Company 3 they'd probably just declare bankruptcy instead at this point.

  17. I would only want a re-master if ME3 is an almost entirely new game from the ground up.

    Spoiler

Full romance with Kelly Chambers, including love scene.

Shepard lives in all endings and reunites with love interest in final shot.

    Full romance with James.

Renegade ending involves Shepard maintaining his/her humanity but seizing control of Reapers, than using Reapers to take complete control of the Galaxy.

Dialogue/new scenes that reveal the fates of everyone on the Citadel after the Reapers seize it (Kelly, Conrad Verner, Bailey, the Council, etc.)
