  1. Brie has the worse kicks in WWE. Its really amazing how much she is using Brian's schtick to try and get herself over with the fans. For a woman who does so little why not take a little time and learn how to throw a real kick and a running knee that doesn't look like shit.

CM Punk had arguably worse kicks. Then again, he goes for head kicks and instead of open up his hips and turning the front ankle for the round house, it usually came out looking like an outside-in crescent kick.

(I do Muay Thai so it bothers me like hell when I see ugly ass kicks from people who expect me to buy that they are legit).

Hopefully, UFC has him tighten up that form or someone might laugh at him in the ring.

...She need to turn her ankle more to get some torque because that has to be the laziest roundhouse kick I have ever seen from a grown adult. I have seen little kids in martial arts classes do it better.

  3. How do you even know they got paid?

Cleary some wrestlers do it just for the love of the sport and support themselves financially with dayjobs, see Big Bossman, IRS, Duke Droese, the Undertaker etc.

I can see Undertaker's night job would be wrestling since his hobby of collecting souls kind of doesn't pay. I mean being a flesh and bone soul dealer to the devil does not mean that you do not have bills to pay and the devil might appreciate the souls, but he/she/it/ they ain't exactly Bill Gates so yeah, why not grapple a few dudes 20 minutes per night once or twice a week and get that cold hard cash?

  4. Dean Malenko's gimmick(s) were that he knew a bunch of holds and was cool and collected.  He worked as a counter point to fired up baby faces like Rey Mysterio Jr. when he was a heel and blew the roof off the place when he finally fired up on Chris Jericho when he was a face.  Dean is also generally critiqued for working in a vacuum and never got over in front of the WWE audience like he did in WCW.  He's one of my favorites but isn't one of the best of all time or anything.

I feel like we are aping Jim Cornette's 'your gimmick is that you are a wrestler' talking point which is so absurd coming from the "Momma's boy, tennis racket swinging, Louisville Slugger, yellow canary jacket" man himself.  No, being a good wrestler is not enough.  Its never been enough ever.  Name any wrestler who ever became anything and he/she had a persona that helped mold their performance in some way.  Ciampo and Gargano don't yet seem to have a unified theme to their performances that will let them get really over.  Their backstage conversation with Regal was supposed to have an air of menace I think?  Like "oh interrupt us will you?"  but Gargano's winky happy face gear doesn't reflect that at all and neither do their actions.

    ...Rey Mysterio?

I got to be honest, I don't see a problem with Sin Cara. I like the gimmick and Hunico is solid under the mask. The real Mistico was fucking up on a nightly basis where Hunico is pretty damn smooth 99% of the time. I wouldn't be opposed to a legit Sin Cara mid card title run with the U.S. strap.

Once the bell rings he is fine. But on the intro he just looks so... meh... next to Kallisto. Kallisto comes out like a high flying lucha should. Sin Cara looks like he is going through the motions.

There are six Latinos on the roster and five of them work a thinly veiled racist gimmick with two of them(the Lucha Dragons) working a gimmick that reduces Lucha, a celebration of Aztec/Mestizo culture, into finger pointing and mantra-ing the word over and over for your mainstream audience consumption i.e. white non-hispanic while a probably legit racist JBL makes comments about them being deported and such. Yep, I would not be as excited about it either to be honest.

  6. Asuka insanely good at facial acting. She obviously has a huge language barrier against her, but she knows how to theatrically perform to communicate with everyone. She does that whole "Oh, you want to go THERE?" face down pat, on top of knowing the basics of looking around for babyface reactions. She also does this really nifty thing with her fingers when she's approaching a lock-up to signal to the crowd to keep cheering. She's exceptional at that part of wrestling and I can totally see why the WWE signed her. Those sorts of things are so important to their product (especially on the big shows) and she has that down so well already.

I will never understand WWE's obsession with being a great talker. It damn near ruined Reigns as he was one of those guys that did not need to talk at all.  Bobby Lashley would have been great if he did not sound like Mickey Mouse on helium. So why throw wrestlers under the bus and force them to do something like that when you can just use their strengths that already has them over already? Asuka has more physical charisma than Reigns(not saying Reigns is bad, but Asuka looks intimidating for a 5"3', 130 pound woman and that is an impressive feat in of itself). Even with the language barrier, she can just use broken English and get by with her facial expressions and overall ring presence.

Then again, I have never really been a fan of WWE's general booking style with the 20 minutes state of the Raw address to start the show or long segments that drag too long.

  7. Asuka has so much physical charisma that she really does not need a mic to cut a promo. She is the crazy woman that Vince and Main Roster creative keep rehashing, but she gets it down by being intimidating and scary as well without it being sexist and demeaning.

She is not unhinged like AJ and Alicia portray. She is just sadistic and I love it. She has that "I'm chill, but I am low key sadistic" smile. I remember watching Kana's work before, but I never realized that she had this much physical charisma. If she goes to the main roster(all accounts say that Samoa Joe and Asuka will stay in NXT), I want to see if Vince and company will let her continue without shoving a mic in her hand unnecessarily ala Roman Reigns.

  8. Did Ciampa shove his thumb up anyone's ass?

I love how wrestling is the only topic that this question would be legitimate without any homoerotic context.

So when does the new season start? I kind of want to see Rey Mysterio on my TV screen again.

  9. So yeah, Ziggler is probably the most apathy inducing wrestler right now. He keeps using words like "stealing the show" and yeah, he has some quality matches under his belt, but I don't know what it is. His promos are formulaic and kind of condescending as a face and too upbeat for a heel. He is not interesting enough as a tweener. His frantic wrestling style is fun to watch a few times, but gets tired and boring after awhile. He is one of those guys that you can stick in the ring with Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, John Cena, Rey Mysterio, and other super workers and have a classic, but the moment you put him in a program with a mediocre worker, he just can't cut it.

It's odd because I want to like Ziggler, but he keeps saying the wrong things like making fun of Miz for using a tanner or some shit or getting into super Dolph promo mode at inappropriate times.

  10.

Unholy Dragon pretty much explained why Sami Zayn and Bayley resonate with me. They never actually stoop to taking shortcuts. Sasha did it and it worked for her, so she can't believe that other people can do things the right way. To her, the idea is a mere fairy tale.

For Bayley to be that happy-go-lucky "just glad to be here" character and to grow over the last couple of years from that into someone who wanted to be more than just glad to be here, but to be champion, and for her to find a way to become better as a performer and a person instead of taking the cheap and easy out of cheating, cheapshotting, and being a dick like so many other people do is fucking inspirational. It's what I wish would happen more in real life. It's so gratifying to see that hard work, self-awareness, and a commitment to hard work and personal growth CAN make your dreams come true. This was even better than Sami not using the chair on Neville when he had the chance in some ways.

Bayley and Sami should never turn heel ever. They occupy the same sort of spot that Daniel Bryan did as a face because crowds actually do want to see pure babyfaces win in a world of morally-ambiguous tweeners and outwardly-douchebaggy heels. The ordinary, everyday genuinely good person has replaced the Nietzschean superman of the '80s or the anti-heroic rebel of the '90s and '00s as the type of babyface that fans want at this point, IMO.

That's why so many people (myself included) love Cena as well, he's truly inspirational and a pillar of strength and class for the world and youth of today.

Cena is a moralizing bully who taunts his opponents with ableist slurs and gestures around like he is one of the kids or nerdy kids that are his fans. Cena probably was the lovable jock that was still an asshole and had the perfect humor. Cena was the guy who cracked jokes and was super popular and everyone thinks is nice, but is actually a disingenuous asshole who obfuscates points against him with being an "inspiration" to kids or being an over patriotic idiot. He was never like Bayley, Sami Zayn, or Daniel Bryan. He is Western society's ideal: a buff white boy with a Superman jaw who listens to cheesy rap music and gets celebrated for it and surrounds himself with muscle cars and lives in an obscene mansion. He is no Sami or Bayley. Cena is a pompous asshat and smiles in front of cameras while picking on everyone beneath him while mantra-ing on about 'respect.'. Cena is Bo Dallas without the exaggeration. I look at Cena and say,"Fuck that corny asshole." I see Bayley and Sami as a hell of a lot more genuine babyfaces than Cena who is only a 'babyface' if you ignore all of the fuckery he has pulled over the years post-Doctor of Thuganomics.

Cena the wrestler and ring story teller is awesome. Cena the character is pretty much the embodiment of everything wrong with WWE creative in the last decade.

  11. I really do hate Finn Balor's finisher. Maybe because Low Ki does it better and it looks vicious when he does it, but Finn's looks kind of lame, but whatever. Those were decent tag matches. Gable is going to be a star and that crowd was right on the money chanting Chad Gable to Kurt Angle's "You Suck" theme.

Asuka wears her opponents down with submissions. She really isn't the Hideo in teats that they are making her out to be. She wrestles completely different from everybody else and I love how she just broke down Dana with submissions and made Dana look good especially since Dana is the stronger of the two and Asuka does that lot. Like that is impressive. Asuka awesome has the charisma down as someone already said. On a side note: I need Asuka vs Eva Marie.

I like Apollo Creed's new finisher and Tyler Breeze is such a prize. I love the little things he does such as him messing with Apollo's boots to get him to turn around for a kick and then doing a roll up pin to outside. Apollo, however, needs to stop selling like he is 165 pounds. That bumb on the ring outside was ridiculous for a man the commentators just sold as 250 pounds. Made Breeze look like Prince Poppa Pump.

And finally, the main event. Okay, I liked the Takeover: Brooklyn match better, but this was almost just as good. Sasha is Eddie Guerrero reincarnated. Like, the little things she does such as her obscuring the refs view so she can poke Bayley's eyes. Making a little girl cry by sheer heel douchey-ness. Sasha is an incredible wrestler and wrestler of the year, man or woman. That was probably my favorite Iron (Wo)Man match and it knocked out Prince Puma vs Johnny Mundo for me.

This was an awesome event, top from bottom, and I am glad that got to chance to watch it. No match was bad and everyone performed awesomely.

What the hell even is Adam Rose's gimmick? Buzzkillington?

    My favorite part of RAW.

From what I gather the Adam Rose new gimmick is that since the WWE destroyed his party he is going to make sure nobody else has fun.   So yeah basically

So like...he is going to usurp the Authority and give us a 3 hour Iron Match between Randy Orton and Sheamus?
