  1. Is having a successful career the same thing as a high ceiling, though?  NinersFan initially said he thought Enzo would never progress beyond being an awesome manager, but now he thinks he has a high ceiling...then he invoked the name of the Road Dogg as a comparison point.  Is being an awesome manager any different or inferior to having a successful career?  Not really.

Having a high ceiling should imply something beyond just being involved in the mix as a featured player.  Again, STOP MOVING THE GOAL POSTS.

  2. Way to shift the goal posts as to what constitutes a "high ceiling" (re:Road Dogg).  See, I would have thought that would entail being able to put on quality matches on a consistent basis and staying on the main roster and in the public eye for a long period.  Apparently others define it as "being in the spotlight for about 3 years total (almost exclusively due to a catch phrase that caught on), then managing to stay loosely-connected to the business on a smaller stage for a long period of time without overdosing and ultimately having a friend who actually accomplished something pull some strings to get you back on the main scene as a legend."

Do you think Apollo Crews has a shot at having a high ceiling like Ahmed Johnson did?

  3. She's allowed to beat up non-wrestlers without repercussions, and anytime she strikes a male wrestler they just stand there and take it.  And then she randomly reverts back to being a face when it's beneficial in terms of crowd support.  Beyond a Mary Sue at this point, just the fucking worst.

  4. This is the first episode of Raw I've watched since like July (and the second since Mania). In fact, I had to check my cable guide to see which channel was USA. I tuned in specifically to see the beginning of the Reigns Era. So there you go. Big Dog=ratings.

I've been something of a negative Nancy in the past (which is why I stopped watching-no fun banging your head against the wall every week), but I rather enjoyed this episode. Most of the matches were at least decent, and there was nothing that I actively hated. It helped that the show was mostly Authority-free, so I don't know how much I can count on that going forward. One minor quibble: I question the wisdom of naming your top heel stable after an organization that is best known for being completely ineffective. It'd be like if La Resistance were called the Maginot Line or something.

La Resistance being called the Maginot Line would have been both awesome and prophetic.

  5. Özil only has 15 assists to his name thus far in the season.  He has 21 matches left to set up 6 more goals in order to break Thierry Henry's Premier League record.  But he's no big deal, and an obvious transfer flop who doesn't run around and get stuck in enough, or so I've heard.

  6. Really, 8 whole pages and not one person has mentioned Reigns doing a repeat performance of his amazing potatoes vs. tater tots promo one week later by substituting grapefruits and prunes when facing up against Vince?

  7. I fail to see why there's so much sorrow over Monk going, unless it's just another one of those "but he's English, innit he?" things.  One win in 11 matches, and they type of football Swansea were playing was unrecognizable slow hoofball shite in comparison to the creative and technical flair that Martinez, Rodgers, and Laudrup had built upon over the years.  He froze out a talent like Michu and let him go on a free.  He had lost the players, and they weren't even trying for him anymore.  Considering that his chief job is to set them up tactically and to motivate them, and you can't sack the whole team...what other result could there be?

  8. Discussion of how Asuka should lose her first notable match at Takeover with some bullshit shenanigans are obviously suffering Stockholm Syndrome in relation to typical WWE booking.  They don't HAVE to do 50/50 booking with this one, just putting up a strong fight and taking Asuka to the limit would elevate Emma in and of itself.

  9. I cannot imagine a band that is less suited to appear on a professional wrestling broadcast than fucking TRAIN.  Of all the shitty performers WWE has featured in their misguided attempt to draw in mainstream fans, this one takes the cake as the most tone deaf (literally and figuratively) by some distance.  Ugh, just...FUCK OFF.
