  1. Two things I don’t understand at all:

    1) Why would they announce Bryan was cleared? If you have Zayn and Owens beat the holy shit out of a Bryan that you don’t know is cleared, imagine the fucking heat in that arena. Oh my god.

    2) if you really are committed to Reigns as top babyface, wh6 in the hell do you do a beat down of him one night and then a beat down of Daniel Bryan the next?  Did they really think anything other than “you deserve it” would be chanted at Reigns and Bryan would get anything but sympathy? It’s completely idiotic, unless they really are going to turn Reigns.

    Was he though?

This a question I've asked a number of times over the last decade and the more time goes on the more I wonder if Benoit wasn't simply an above average wrestler is a sea on Attitude Era bullshit. Don't get me wrong, I thought he was the best in the world at the time too but looking back his best matches all came with better workers - Guerrero, Angle and Jericho. I can't think of any matches of the top of my head where Benoit was the standout guy for anything other that his stiffness and his proto Suplex City layout.

He came hot on the heels of Bret Hart being a God among men as far as workers go in North America and right before the UFC took hold with real combat sports. He also had the cred from Japan right as Puro was getting a lot of traction with the internet community. Combine this with the perception that he was being groomed for a top spot but always held down under the glass ceiling in WCW and you get this mini Daniel Bryan kind of support network going.

Now I'm sure part of this is sourness on what happened being combined with a total lack of watching Benoit in recent times but the closer we get to this date the more I think about him and the more I think he was seriously over rated and probably achieved about as much as he possibly could in terms of career titles and accolades.

Please don't make me defend Benoit, but that motherfucker could wrestle. The year he won the BOTSJ alone is as good or better than anything you'll see today.

But, again, fuck that guy. In addition to the murders, it seems like every new Benoit story I hear these days is about him being an asshole, a bully or whatever.

  3. I mean, we all knew Owens was going to lose. But it irks me how. Somebody mentioned earlier that Jericho, who has issue with Owens and likely to fight him at Mania, interferes to get the belt from Owens. What fucking sense does that make? I think it makes Jericho fucking stupid.  I admit that may be he asshole smark in me saying that.

But Goldberg is a nostalgia act. If you're watching the PPV, you likely have the Network. On said network, you can watch some of the old school Goldberg shit, like, say, the shit he had going on with Jericho. And the stories about fucking Goldberg being told not to sell/job for Jericho on a bunch of docs. Why the fuck is Jericho helping Greenberg win the title? It's almost like finally signing Sting and having the nWo come in and help him in a match, but that would never fucking happen, I guess.

  4. I think I was like 15 when the Koloffs were involved in the Eddie Gilbert-Korchenko-Bill Watts angle in UWF. I liked wrestling before but I was a fan from that point forward. Fucking Ivan was real, man. He was choking Watts with the chain while Watts bled a gusher and Ross was having a coronary. Truly great wrestling.

  5. I really don't want to be Nick Negative here, because I've really liked what they've done lately and their recent updates to the network and all. But two things bothered me about this Raw.

First was the Miss Piggy thing, which has been done to fucking earth, I get it. She can't go Miss Piggy on the non-traditional "Diva" after THAT promo.

And you finally have a compelling one on one feud at the top of the card, with two great wrestlers that can talk and carry the shit themselves. So here's an idea, let's add HHH, Stephanie, Cactus Jack and Roman fucking Reigns to the program to muck it up. You've got your two most-over guys. They're fighting for a reason. Why inject all these other assholes into it?

  6. Random points:

The Dudleyz are supposed to excite me, I guess. It's 2015. It's not TNA. Stop.

I find it funny that WWE tried to push New Day as an ultra face team and failed. Then they tried to push them as dastardly heels, and they're the most-over face team on the roster. I don't know what that means, but it's fucking funny as hell.

The person that came out of the Miz TV segment looking the best was the Miz. He never broke character and pinked every one of the women in that segment. Also, when he got the face pop he didn't expect, he at least tried to give them the "fuck you don't cheer me" spot. All 6 of the women came off poorly.

Stardust is fantastic. I wish he could be in the main event. I'd probably be less negative. Maybe.

My wife, who doesn't watch wrestling other than maybe a few minutes with me and the kids a month, came into the room during the Jon Stewart segment. "Are you fucking shitting me?" was her response. It was nicer than mine.

Flair is going to turn on Cena eventually, right?

  7. I wanted to like this show and was well on my way, but fuck, the WWE hates me I guess.

I get the celebrity thing, I guess, but Lawler didn't job to Kauffman. Have some respect for your business.

And fuck the Brock finish. Undertaker is indestructible, right? Then don't have him fucking tap. With this finish, they both look like assholes. And that was a great fucking match, but nobody is talking about that because of the finish.

  8. Nothing would shock me but it's unfair to speculate. Hogan got caught and will now pay the price for it. A lot of folks are predicting WWE will rehire him at some point and I could see that but part of me really does think this is the end. Not because of what he said (which was fucking horrible) but because WWE probably does not view him as much of a draw anymore.

If this was Cena or Orton they'd survive it.  Riley Cooper survived in the NFL and he's nothing more than a solid WR.

Cooper is terrible. He should buy Chip Kelly lunch every day for the rest of his life for that contract.
  9. I'm pretty sure this was my first card shortly after my 10th birthday.
