  1. Two movies off my list. I'm a bit disappointed that A Simple Plan got 5 fewer votes this time around. Until I looked it up for my ballot, I had no idea Sam Raimi was the director, so that's cool.

The wife gets a kick out of these. For example, she kind of snorted at the idea of Soapdish being on the bottom of the list, implying that she would've had it pretty high on her hypothetical ballot. "I guess I should be surprised it's on there at all" was her comment IIRC. If she were voting, I think these countdowns would be very different, methinks. :P

  3. Well, having Randall Cobb and Vernon Davis really bailed me out after Marshawn Lynch and Trent Richardson did nothing. I'm down 5.5 points and I have Michael Vick and Desean Jackson, while my opponent has Alfred Morris. I'm thinking I should be able to win this...

  4. Here's some ideas from anime:

Gannosuke Kagerou and Obero-no-Iga from Basilisk

Joker and Wendy from Read or Die

Heinkel and Yumie from Hellsing (Everybody goes as Alucard/Integra/Seras, so I figured I'd suggest a different pairing)

    Tsukasa and Subaru from .hack//SIGN

And a couple video game ones:

Crono and Merle from Chrono Trigger

Travis Touchdown and Shinobu from No More Heroes

  5. So, yeah, the Red Sox did everything they could to hand that game to the Yankees, but they just wouldn't take it.

23 days left of the regular season, and lots of exciting storylines still going. The Pirates/Cardinals NL Central pennant chase (even though it's obvious both teams are making the playoffs, winning the division does make a difference now with the way the playoffs are structured), as well as the division race between Texas and Oakland (ditto). Six teams are still in the mix for the AL Wild Card spots, including, of all teams, Kansas City. The NL Wild Card race is not so exciting, as Arizona and Washington are each 7 games out from Cincinnati's #2 WC spot, so it'd take a pretty bad collapse by either the Reds or the Cards/Pirates for either team to get in.

I hate Bud Selig as much as the next guy, but adding the second Wild Card spot has made the last 2-3 of the season more exciting than they had been in recent memory. So at least there's 1 thing he's done that's somewhat positive.

  7. I'm not worried about our beloved Cardinals, nor am I fazed about the Pirates and Reds.  The plan is the same as the past two seasons: the Cards will stagger into the playoffs, seemingly accidentally; then proceed to take out the experienced postseason clubs entirely through intelligence, sheer willpower, and determination (nevermind Ryan Howard's injury to close out the 2011 NLDS or the infield fly rule last year).  Following that, they'll teach a valuable lesson to scrappy darlings whose cities haven't tasted World Series action in decades (see Milwaukee and Washington).

Granted, there was a minor setback last year because nobody bothered to inform the Cardinals that wildcards now need to win 8 games to make it to the World Series.  Mr. Selig will make up for that this year, though.  I have faith in this as I pray every night before my personal Stan Musial shrine (as all sincere Redbird fans have).

I see it now: top the Reds in the play-in game; handle the Braves or the Dodgers in the NLDS; break the hearts of Pittsburghers in the NLCS; polish off whomever the American League has to offer.  It's a can't-lose scenario, and all the pieces are in place.  We just have to make sure the other teams involved...

    ...play ball.

We already have a delusional Cardinals fan, dude. This thread doesn't need you being all piranesi-lite, because you aren't nearly as entertaining as he is.

So just stop. Root for the Cardinals if you must, and even dial the psychotic fan dial to 11 if you must. But don't try to steal piranesi's gimmick. You're just not as good at it. :P

  8. The roster is clearly getting emasculated to the point where I don't see how you can argue against it.  In fact it seems to me that is the whole point - HHH/Steph/Vince are putting their collective nuts in a jar because they can.  That's why Bryan's dig about HHH not being a man had resonance - it's a roster filled with cowards, led by the corporate sellout.

It's a lot harder for that one person to step forward against the machine if they're the only one in the crowd to do it. Basic mob psychology, and HHH knows it, which is why he's had the roster out as a group whenever he decides to take Daniel Bryan down a peg.

  9.

How has nobody mention Pretzel bun movement? How did this happen?

Because people realized pretzel rolls are delicious.

Haven't tried the Wendys one because I get the same shit every time on the rare occasions I go to Wendys, but the Sheetz pretzel melts are heaven.

It was alright, nothing I'd go back for. It tasted good enough, but it was really greasy. Dunkin Donuts has pretzel roll sandwiches too now.

  10.

I'll start with a question I just thought of a few minutes ago. Let's say I have something I want to smoke and then fry, like chicken wings or something. I don't really have the means to do real smoking right now, so I was wondering if I could just add a bit of liquid smoke to the fry oil to accomplish the same thing?

Adding a water-based product to hot oil doesn't sound like a good idea....

    Yeah, I hadn't thought of that, actually...:P

  11. Io left Triple Tails because she got offered a full-time job with STARDOM and, surely related, is their current champion.

On a personal level, when Io got arrested, Mio said she had almost no contact with her sister at that point. Before that but after the split they did have a tag team match against each other at Union:

Here's Mio Shirai's blog entry regarding Io's arrest:

Google Translate wasn't a whole lot of help, but from what I can parse, it seems like she regrets her estrangement from Io. I sure hope they can reconcile.
