  1. In between the Philly indie scene being exposed for pest after pest after pest, the realization that AEW just isn't for me no matter how hard I try to get into it, and the fact that the wrong company died in 2001, I'm having a hard time hashing out whether or not wrestling is a past tense for me.

I used to worry about how I'd tell my daughter I don't feel safe taking her to shows anymore, but I'm pretty sure there ain't gonna be many shows around here to even go to after the pandemic ends anyway.

  2. Vaccine dates went off without a hitch!

My wife is a bit under the weather after her second shot (Moderna), and my own side effects from my first (Pfizer) are minimal.

I go back on Easter for the second shot. Here’s hoping I have a better time afterward than she did.

    PWInsider:
"World Wrestling Entertainment staff were officially informed this morning that John Laurinaitis, 58, is now officially General Manager, Talent and will be heading up Talent Relations going forward.  Mark Carano would now report to Laurinaitis, who would then report to WWE's Executive Vice President of Operations, Brad Blum.

PWInsider.com is told this would have no effect or change on WWE's Talent Development department, which is headed by Canyon Cemen, who reports to Paul Levesque."

WWE filed for two new trademarks Symbiosis and Franky Monet.

Surely this has to mean the days of NXT, in its current form at least, are numbered, right? Surely Johnny Ace isn’t going to stick to the model of signing smaller indie darlings.

Ah, okay. So I guess they'll be adding stuff over time, then. That sounds not so terrible, I guess, if you already were paying for Peacock Premium or if you get the first four months for free.

Obviously, it'd be better if they had it all right at the transfer over to Peacock, but at least they're not making you pay ten bucks a month for less content.

If you think WWE will stick to the plan of adding old stuff to the archives when they’ve gone back on that many times, I got this big fuckin’ bridge in Brooklyn I just gotta show you.

I'm glad to hear the NWA is back, but what kind of roster could they have left? Eli Drake, James Storm, Eddie Kingston, Ricky Starks are all gone and if they're smart they won't touch Scurll with a 20mfoot pole. That leaves them with, what, Strictly Business and Trevor Murdoch?

Wait til you found out who the current women’s champion is dating.

  6. Another day, another figure in indie wrestling outed as scum. This time, it’s Colin West, promoter of Synergy Wrestling in New Jersey. It was revealed that he is a registered sex offender under his real name, Patrick Shea, and had been using Colin West as an alias. Nobody in the business seemed to know, as talent left and right announced they were cutting ties with him and his company, and he has seemingly closed up shop.

I’m getting tired of this shit, man...

  7. My favorite trope that sadly you never see anymore; the tag team format/style of wrestling being such an indecipherable monolith to singles wrestlers that you could put Ric Flair and another Horseman up against the world tag team champions, and you would have the Midnight Express outclassing Flair in every respect. Flair may be the world champion, the dirtiest player in the game, but you’re in the Midnight Express’ house now, and they’re forcing you to play by THEIR rules and kicking your ass all the while until Flair pulls some trickery out his ass to steal a win.

Piper used the sleeper and it worked for him. But them both having it might have been an internal issue.

I could see Hulk using the bear hug or the full nelson then.

Anybody remember WCW vs. the World on PlayStation way back when? I think his super grapple was the one-shoulder backbreaker, maybe use that.

Jeff Hardy, days away from his 41st birthday:

To answer your question, he's now 43. Sabu is 56.

It really says something that Jeff now basically does shoot Swantons landing with his whole back because it’s so fucked he can’t really roll like he used to. Because THAT’S much better for your spine.

Imagine how much less damage Hogan would have done to himself if he just used the clothesline finish from Japan. Or the sleeper like he wanted. Was a submission a credible finish for an 80s babyface though?

Cloris Leachman has passed. Which is crazy, as I've been binging The Mary Tyler Moore Show for the last two weeks. I just watched the one where Phyllis convinces Ted to run for public office. She was so, so funny.

One of the funniest women to ever live. Her time up front at the Bob Saget roast is a master class of zingers.
