I am a big stupid who zoned out. I will review the recommendations and go into detail about my tastes and blind spots early this week.

Shit, is it possible to add me or is it too late?

I thought Joe still wanted to be in the ring?
My guess is he got an outside opinion and the news wasn’t good, so he might as well take the steady paycheck.

He’ll be on NWA or Impact by the fall, they fucking LOVE their abusers and pests.

If this is for me, I don't watch RAW and haven't in ... years I think?
WWE sucks.
No, that wasn’t aimed at you or anyone on here in general. My original comment was mainly from my bemusement at Drew Gulak getting a rose jammed up his ass more than anything.

As it should be.

Stupidest thing in that clip is the recipient adjusting himself in the chair. We can tell you're not all that out of it.
Move was whatever.
I think that's what took me out of it more than anything. Honestly, if he moved out of the way and dude just kept flipping to the wall I probably would have laughed my ass off.

Honestly, out of context, it's trash, but Chuck Taylor throwing grenades in CHIKARA worked for me entirely, so it's all in the context of the promotion.
I was totally into the Undertaker teleporting around the arena as a kid and Irish whips don't bother me at all, so clearly, I'm willing to accept anything if it fits the context of the promotion itself.
I mean, yeah, places like Chikara, you EXPECT goofy shit, but this just hacks me off so much. Might also have to do with how Speaking Out ended up ruining most of my Chikara memories and making me not want to associate with what it stood for, even in the good times.
I got some flack on Twitter for saying maybe it's time for the indies to die, but as an IWTV subscriber and a guy who went to over 50 shows in the past five years and saw the way things were declining in real time as WWE signed everyone in sight, I just... feel like maybe leave the memories alone?

You ever have one of those moments where you're just sitting wonder why you even bother defending this shit anymore?
I did, after seeing this yesterday.
It's from GCW's latest offshoot, and this is having the same effect as the "Force Chokeslam" that made the rounds a few years ago in making me think that maybe it's time to put the indies out of its misery. The constant backflips in place while the guy with pink hair just sits in the chair like a moron just hacks me off and I can't even properly explain why. It's really got me thinking wrestling really HAS passed me by. Please advise.

So sad to hear. He had a wealth of knowledge about genre fiction, and lots of advice for aspiring writers (especially if they ever reached a point where their work was optioned for screen). He always had some good words to say about modern wrestling when most his age have long since checked out of it. Just in general a warm, bright voice.
Rest, John.

So is she DONE done? That’s kind of sad.

YOUR NON-BINDING SUPER APE PREDICTIONS FOR WHERE THE RELEASED WWE TALENT GOES;
Iiconics: Peyton probably goes to AEW with her husband. Billie either follows suit or goes back to Australia and calls it a career. She was all but retired when WWE came calling, so it’s not unlikely she just goes back to that.
Bo Dallas: was already nine toes out the door with the realtor license and not being on TV in two years, so I’m sure he’s done.
Mickie, Chelsea: Probably goes to join their respective guys in NWA/Impact.
Kalisto: The world is his oyster. Samuray del Sol comeback?
Tucker: Poor bastard is FUCKED.
Samoa Joe: Coasts on some quick paydays with NEW or Memphis, and either goes into AEW or retires.
Wesley Blake: arrested after he sneaks into the Performance Center and murders Ryker for fucking up his gig.

Is it just me, or is there just no buzz whatsoever for Mania or Mania-adjacent events this week?
You all know how much I hate WWE, but seeing people online admit they can’t muster up as much excitement for Mania as in past years is really sad. On top of that, the bevy of US indies in Tampa this weekend are probably going to lose their asses if GCW’s woes of selling tickets are to be believed. It just feels like the post-pandemic US wrestling scene is just going to be in a really bad way, and it’s very depressing.
As it is I’m probably just gonna watch the IWTV shows that catch my interest and then take a vacation from wrestling. Thinking about how bad things are just makes me sad, and having deleted all my saved matches and Twitter bookmarks in a fit of disillusionment after another Philly-area worker was exposed as a pest severed a tenuous link to wrestling as a whole.
At least I know there won’t really be much of a Philly scene with Chikara dead.

Not really planning on going out of my way for any shows this Wrestlemania. Probably just Bloodsport and Spring Break, maybe For The Culture.
You’re not the only one. It seems the Mania week indie shows are struggling to sell tickets.
Unsurprisingly, The Twits is pointing out that whole thing about there being a pandemic, and limited crowds for Mania (including no international travelers) is really putting a damper on the whole indie thing.

No. WCW shouldn't have won. I know you brought this up before, but saying WCW should have won ignores how fucking awful WCW was. They dropped the ball on their most popular angle ever with Sting and Hogan and things got continually worse from there. I mean, if you think WCW should have won, then you're basically advocating for the continued hotshotting of titles, multiple reigns by Jeff Jarrett, botch fests with Kronik and Jindrak/Ohare, Mark Madden screaming "SNOOCHIE BOOCHIES," Tony Schiavone getting pushed out because he didn't look good enough, embarrassing crowds, etc.
Look, we got a peak of what WCW would have looked like if it survived and it was TNA. If that's what you want, then great, but let's stop pretending WCW surviving and WWE dying out would have been good considering that Jamie Kellner was killing WCW anyway. So great. You would have two dead promotions.
Counterpoint: if WCW won, they wouldn’t have kept a monopoly for long, because they would still be stuck in “territory mode,” allowing another company to rise up as a challenger.
Also; tell me that 2000 WCW is any worse than 2020-1 WWE. I dare you.
