  1. Actually took a chance since I was snowed in and had fuck all else to do.

    What a mistake.

Reigns/Rollins was OK, and I didn’t mind the DQ finish because I’m sure it gets blown off at Saudi Blood Money Vanity Show, but both of those Rumbles? Ye GODS.

On the women’s side you have a roster so thin that they had to resort to saying “hey, remember this girl who used to wrestle here?” for a long while, and Ronda looked like she could not have possibly given any less of a shit.

Lesnar/Lashley could have benefitted from a little Inokiism, but I was surprised to see ref bumps because I thought those were verboten in modern WWE.

Didn’t watch the women’s title match or the mixed tag. And the men’s Rumble… that’s your roster? That shit is paper thin, and while I half-expected Lesnar to show up and win, I also was baffled at Shane O’ Mac in the final three.

If the Rumble is THIS bad, at the rate they’re going they’ll have to change the WrestleMania theme song to Yakety Sax. That whole week is going to be a shitshow and I don’t have any faith in the indies to make anything going on in the DFW that week worth paying attention to.

American wrestling is in the MUD.

If she isn't rehired on the sneak tip, Taya will probably go back to Impact as soon as her non-compete runs out (if there is one).  She'd be hot shotted to the Knockout's title in no time at all.

Didn’t she leave Impact on bad terms though? Same with Kross, who’s probably NWA-bound. Just make sure Tyrus doesn’t get Scarlett’s number.

  3. Been struggling really hard with the concept of “letting go.” Specifically, with fandom. In the wrestling thread I pointed out how an indie near me booked Onita for a deathmatch and Rob Feinstein was there running Onita’s business. A lot of folks were upset, myself included, and I called some people out for not saying anything and yeah. Got a demonstration of the parasocial “friendship” between entertainer and audience.

I’ve talked at length on here about the effects of Speaking Out on my local indie scene and how it hurts because I took my daughter to Chikara shows. After months of holding out hope that things will get better, I finally accepted they won’t, and am trying to disengage and let go of wrestling, at least in these indies.

I’ve already decided I won’t take my kid to any more shows, but letting go of friends I made, even those whose bonds were superficial, hurts. Especially for someone who has had difficulty making friends his whole life.

I’m not asking for any advice or help, I just really needed to get these words out and stop them from eating me up inside.

Giants game is cursed today. Barkley sprains his ankle, or breaks it, or tears ankle ligaments or whatever by just stepping on someone else's foot when a play was over. Daniel Jones looked like he was so concussed he burst an ear drum and his equilibrium left town. Stumbling and bumbling to the point they carted him off. Just terrible injury luck today. I'm thankful I had already given up on them being able to stay in contention.

So Mike Glennon still gets a paycheck in the NFL, who knew?

Serves them right for fucking me over in survival last week.

Now do the Saints next, football gods.

I'll call shotgun if we can swing through Nashville on the way there.

The Jets and Giants probably destroyed half the survivor pools in America today.

We’ll see, the trunk of my car can only hold so many bodies.

  6. If anybody needs me I’ll be driving to New Orleans with pliers and a blowtorch, seeing as I just got fucked out of survival.

I’m about to get medieval on Sean Payton’s ass.

I think the New Day are both in and out of kayfabe the greatest WWE stable of all-time.

In-story: Longest reigning tag champs, if I'm reading Wiki right they've had 11 separate tag title reigns, two world champions, one Grand Slam champ in Kofi and another Triple Crown champion now in Big E. That's an unimpeachable record and may they never break up.

Out-of-kayfabe: Saddled with a DOA gimmick that they made work by finding their collective voice as irritating nerds. Along the way, they became the voice of a certain section of WWE fandom who are into gaming and comic books and other parts of nerd culture, with Woods becoming a celebrity in that world. KofiMania is on the short-list of best stories the WWE has ever told -- his breakout in the Gauntlet match, the awesome Gauntlet where his partners had to win to save his opportunity (with The Usos doing the "We respect you and forfeit!" segment). On top of being a WrestleMania Main Event Act, they can also carve out a lot of time in the mid-card or in a comedy role and it's almost always entertaining, which is ridiculously entertaining. And, most importantly, being three black men having all of this success is the exact opposite of pro wrestling's racial dynamics over the years. Their podcast addressing George Floyd and injustice legitimately hit me harder than anything else I listened to or watched on those issues.

    Also:

This is really specific, but I have a friend who a few years ago faced X in a game of DDR AND WON at a gaming tournament. It made my friend’s life, and I know Woods had a blast.

  8. For reasons I STILL don’t know, I decided this was the week I’d start doing some sports betting on college football.

Guess who’s up $120 after taking Michigan -6, the under on Air Force/Navy, and Temple -6.5, plus a parlay of the first two?

In between that, JSU LITERALLY planting a flag on the FSU logo, and THIS shit from Arkansas social media… I like college football now?!

Usually you get "Thank you, *wrestlers name*" and " We will miss you." Here it's the goodbye song and "Hardy" chants. As I said, brutal.

He’ll be the ace of the NWA midcard, having snoozers with Tyrus and Woman Beatin’ Bram by Christmas. I just hope he makes sure none of those guys get Scarlett’s number.

  11. Sad news; Jahmale Hepburn, aka RealHero, known for the Google Drive of the same name, has passed away.

His efforts in bring Japanese wrestling, past and present, to Western audiences, were a large part of why people were able to get into and appreciate Japanese pro wrestling over the past few years. While I never personally talked to him, many people have also said he was one of the nicest people in the wrestling community.

Say hi to Misawa and Jumbo for us, Jahmale. We’ll miss you.

    Jake Milliman and a turkey?

Larry Z steals the check from his team and leaves for another territory?

I meant with the place closing after, though thinking about it, Tony Khan would probably feel obligated to bring that roster into his, and I’m not gonna watch a Dynamite with Nick Aldis and Thom Batteredher.

  13. Two straight Phillies losses, two nights in a row, both attributable to COVID denying assholes like Aaron Nola.

I can't wait for the lockout to come put me out of this sorry franchise's misery.
