They could do what UFC does and have an interim champion, and that person has a match with Asuka when she comes back to determine the real champ. I thought Asuka was hurt because she was really favoring that shoulder area towards the end of the match without having much of a reason to selling wise.

The Brand Split has given us the following world champs: Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, Bray Wyatt, and Jinder Mahal.
Say what you will about them, I'd rather have seen the 5 of them as champ than 1 solid year of Brock Lesnar/Goldberg.
AJ is the only one out of that group who deserved a world title reign. Balor got the belt way too soon, Owens' run(coming off losing a feud to Sami Zayn) was awful, Bray hasn't delivered a worth wile performance since he wrestled Daniel Bryan, and the less said about Jinder the better.

I don't quite know what Toni Storm is going for character wise, but she has an interesting charisma about her. I'd be surprised if she isn't signed. Lacey Evans seems like the most likeable person, but I don't think her current gimmick suits her. She may not want to use her military background as part of her gimmick, but it would be pretty unique for a female competitor. I'm interested to see how Bianca does in this. I'm trying not to set myself up for disappointment, but if I don't get a proper Kairi vs Asuka feud for the title I'm going to be bummed.

I have to talk about how much I hated that Sasha promo. She was practically begging the audience not to boo her, went the cheap route of bringing up Ric Flair's health, and then went full Dolph Ziggler bragging about "stealing the show" in matches she lost. They really can't book baby faces anymore. It's only a matter of time before Vince realizes Braun is a face, and starts having him tell corny jokes and going 50/50 in his feuds.

I'd go Becky, Charlotte, Sasha............Bayley
Charlotte, Becky, and Bayley all have one thing in common. Their best matches are against Sasha Banks.

I'm amazed at the dislike for Corbin but the love for Braun on this board.
Corbin is a mediocre worker with a shitty look and no charisma. Braun Stroman is fucking awesome. Hope this clears things up.

So Cena is happy he won't be getting a title shot at SummerSlam? Or would Nak face Corbin if Corbin won? The whole thing was a cluster of fuck.

I think it was a mistake having Bayley beat Charlotte as soon as she got called up. They overestimate how many people knew Bayley's character arc from NXT. Bringing up people as a finished act is leaving 80% of the fun out of it for most of the audience. If Bryan showed up day one beating Undertaker and Cena people would've been like "WTF". Sure a small amount of smarks would've loved it, but you have to get the majority of the audience behind a babyface before you start giving them wins over the best. American Alpha backfired in a similar way to Bayley, and they made the same mistakes with them as they did Bayley(hard push out of the gate and treated them as a finished product with no character development after the call up).

Am I the only person who skipped Almas/Jose because of no fucks to give?

Bayley's character in NXT had an arc of going from naive fan who rarely won to confident ace of the women's division. She's had zero character development on Raw.

Did you not like Roman's matches with AJ, Bryan, Seth, and Finn? He does well when he has people he can act like a cocky asshole against.
Roman is just a fantastic worker at this point regardless of the opponent. I would strongly consider him for the #1 spot in WWE right now.

By the way, you know you can see "undefeated rising star" kicking ass while losing in his debut on the UK tourney, right?
The UK tournament is NXT cannon now? Black is the #3 singles guy in the division, and I don't think it's a good look to have him struggle like that against an unknown unhyped guy.
-
I think a guy debuting with no hype and no character shouldn't go 50/50 in a long grueling match with an undefeated rising star in the company.

I think it makes the most sense to let Kairi get established for a while in NXT, and then bring Io in if her medical issues are cleared up. I don't care how impressive any of the women in the MYC were I seriously doubt any of them could make WWE say "yeah that Io Shirai is ok, but so and so is really great".
-
This title shot for Nak feels rushed. I don't think he's that over yet. They probably should've switched him and AJ's spots on this show.
-
Ok first off I have to get this out of the way; if you want to be an MMA fighter go do MMA. Black incorporates into his character, but it isn't his whole character which I'm fine with.
Best part of the show was the Asuka/Ember angle. I like that Roddy is still coming after Roode. I thought they gave O'Reilly too much in this match. He reminds me of Lorcan if Oney started cosplaying a generic UFC fighter. Just when you think Mauro can go an entire episode without saying something stupid he drops that line at the end mentioning the all time great in ring rivalries after Black/O'Reilly lol. I'm more hyped for Ember/Asuka than any Summer Slam undercard match.

As far as my interest goes this is a one match show with the 4 way title match being the only must see match. I'm sure some of the other matches will deliver and be good matches, but I have no desire to sit though a 5 hour show to watch them. Not doing AJ vs Nak and giving us yet another AJ/Owens match that is just background for the Owens/Shane feud is a complete waste of AJ Styles.
-
That story doesn't add up to me. I've read she suffered the alleged concussion early in the taping. That's some pretty gross negligence on the medical staff's part to think they let her work 3 matches in one day with the possibility that she worked more than one match with a concussion. The story also said she would be cleared by early August which is now. I doubt she was even scheduled to work any shows in the past few weeks anyway.

Roode can be a main eventer on SDL or Raw if they want him to be. I don't see why anyone doubts that.
I don't doubt it as you can see in my post above that. I'm saying they'd rather have him as NXT ace than in Mike Bennet's role as was suggested before my post.
-
Has Cena ever done a backflip/moonsault bump? I don't think him taking that was the best idea. Rusev and Gable have an awesome match to set up a fucking Randy Orton match. AJ will be wasted at Summer Slam while they set up a KO/Shane feud.
-
I think they'd rather have Roode headlining NXT shows than being a midcard geek on SDL.
-
Roode has pretty much perfected his act in and out of the ring at this point. I think his promos and matches are strong enough to be a lead heel it's just a question of if they think they need one right now. I'm not a Jinder fan, but I don't hate him either. Corbin bores me, and KO's title run on Raw flopped. So personally I'd like to see Roode get a shot on SDL. They have a loaded babyface roster for him to work with.

I also haven't double checked the math but the claim is that last night was the 13th time Bayley and Nia Jax have wrestled just on RAW this calendar year
Yay for divisions with four people in them.
I made sure to catch the triple threat, and it was good not great. I really don't know why they had that match with a clean finish and no post match angle so close to Summer Slam though. That felt like a setup to a Roman/Brock singles match.

Sasha's "I'm doing the job" face was in full effect during her entrance last night.
Good show. Loved the opening show brawl, and The Drifter rules. So much better on the main roster than he was in NXT.
Maybe it was her "I'm being left off Summer Slam fuck this shit" face.
Drifter was awesome in NXT as well. They just never gave him much to do.

It makes zero sense for someone who's never had a televised match on NXT to be NXT women's champ. I don't consider the MYC to be a part of NXT. No one could call themselves any kind of interim champ without beating Ember or Nikki Cross anyway. If Asuka can make the next Takeover then they should just leave the belt on her.
