  1. I can certainly understand that. I don't hate Hunter – but I strongly dislike his work during this period. I just don't think he was funny, and he thinks he was. Plus I don't think he was "edgy"; I think he was just a bully.

Nash and Hall were the same, with those endless self indulgent NWO segments.

It looks like the network will be running the Monday night wars come this summer, which I imagine will be the same as the old 24/7 where they posted Raw and Nitro. I'll watch them in order at that time, so I'll have more context. We'll see if I change my mind. I'm always happy to be proven wrong when it comes to particular wrestlers or eras.

  2. This segment from RAW with DX in blackface as The Nation is not funny -- it's actually pretty damned offensive. Also, it's goes on way too long.

More important, it just feels like the wrong tone. I believe the best promo doesn't bury your opponent. But maybe that's just too old school of me. I wasn't watching during the Attitude Era, but looking back it seems so ridiculous all around.

  3. What if the WWE was on a tour of the pacific rim right now and their chartered flight happened to be the one that is currently missing? Do they bother going through with WrestleMania as some sort of bizarre tribute, or is it cancelled all together? Assuming the tour has most of the key members of the roster, how well does the company do after having been forced to basically start from scratch?

Ironically enough, this'd be the first year where it probably wouldn't have as immediate a financial impact, as at this point WWE is expecting people to buy (or have bought) the Network rather than order the PPV. Other than that, what FSW said, especially if HHH were on that plane as well and they needed someone to give the book to.

If Dixie Carter were smart, (why do I hear laughter?) she'd try to sell to Vince then and there.

DVDVR would immediately get behind a Regal/Zayn feud for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

  4. Brock on @Midnight would be the best. Just imagine how quickly he would target and rip the head off of Brian Posehn just because he was the largest other animal in that space:

Hardwick: And Brock, what do you think of Keyboard cat...oh

    brock.jpg

Soo...you answer is the slaughter and display of Brian Posehn's head as a totem to ward off all other challenges.

    Judges????? judges???? anyone??????

I had to put my phone down and run to the bathroom, because this Lesnar on TV discussion made me almost piss my pants from laughing so hard. Well done, gentlemen.

  5. I find myself less interest in long epics and instead preferring a well worked 20 min match. I've only just recently realized that fact. Maybe it's a case of not wanting to spend 40 to 60 minutes on one match when there's so much that I have yet to see - and only so many viewing hours in a day. Plus, in so many cases, the match did not really need to be 45 minutes long.

  6. NWO '01 continued

Eddy/Benoit/Jericho/PAC fatal 4 way - decent enough match, though the structure had inherent weakness. It causes a lot of your turn-my turn action. Triple threats have same issue. I much prefer 4-way as elimination. Also:

Fuck Benoit for being a murderer. And fuck Benoit for causing Davey Richards. Several times in the match, it was like I was looking at Davey and his so-serious face and motions.

Trish vs Steph was a lot better than it had any right to be. They only rarely fell into cat fight mode, instead amateurly but adequately throwing a lot of rasslin spots. And Regal was comedy gold at the end.

LOL at the crowd booing Trish for fixing her wedgie.

  7. True. I always like DA best when I watch those 6-woman tags. Just teasing about looking up Estrellita matches. I certainly like her well enough, but daresay I wouldn't seek out an Estrellita match specifically.

On another note: That Rush/Casas match that opened this thread. The link is dead. Anyone have a current link? Or just a date, so I can look it up myself? I am intrigued, and I watched zero Rasslin in any language in 2013.

  8. Hayes is usually awful on the panels. Constantly interrupting and everything. I remember back in the CoD thread, the six of us that had the network would always complain about him never knowing when to not talk.

It is certainly true in my experience that he almost never has anything of value to say on these panels.

  9. The history or Raw roundtable sure makes JR come off like a huge racist. The casual "angry black man" reference to Ahmed Johnson was an eye opener.

Michael Hayes may be the most attention starved human being alive. Like, shut the fuck up and let Mean Gene intro the show you insecure jackass.

The Road Dogg and Pat Patterson were fairly enjoyable.

Meaning to watch that one, to hear a fresh POV from Dogg. Interesting comment re Hayes -- I usually seem to think he's one of the quieter ones on those panels. (Not as quiet as Sarge, but still.)  To me, it seems like it's Flair and Foley that won't shut up and let the others talk.

  10. Because promoters are still paying him I would guess. I'm sure he's probably not wrestling a style that is too demanding, it's probably more come see the Rock's dad kick a dudes ass and bring in a couple more people to the show, he gets paid to come do some punch and kick stuff probably doesn't bump and gets some money and it's probably more fun for him than sitting at home watching his sons movies.

On the Texas episode of "Legends", they showed clips of a 6-man tag with Fritz, Mike, and Kevin Von Erich. Fritz didn't do much, but the Freebirds sold really well for him and it popped the crowd like crazy.

Probably the same for Rocky J.

  11. Just watched the legends episode about Giants – no Flair, and lots of great sentimental stories about Andre. Terrific episode.

Then watched Dusty vs Corino from Living Dangerously 2000. Very bloody. Even fat, slow, and tired, Dusty sparkled. There's a magic and presence with the all-time greats that most guys don't have and will never understand.

Now switched on the stream, and a legends I've never seen about Texas. Again no Flair! Good stuff.
