Caught the first hour of this, and read the rest of the results to catch up.

That elimination match to start off the show in the place of a shitty scripted public conversation between two people who have no business reciting lines, was excellent. I didn’t like babyface Ricochet accepting heel Lashley, and heel Cesaro’s help in defeating Strowman without any recourse.

The Seth angle was some of the strongest booking they’ve done with him since Wrestlemania. Took them fucking long enough to present somebody who’s holding your main belt as a star. The whole shows reads like a response to AEW, the booking in general, and the criticism of the way they’ve neglected the call ups. But it feels like one of those condescending responses that Vince, and creative like to do. “See here, are the Viking Raiders. We know they still exist”, but then they make them seem like afterthoughts by having a 24/7 segment immediately following their squash. Like why not have them excessively beat up the jobbers afterwards to the point that makes them scarier?

The problem is that Rollins just isn’t a star. He can’t convincingly sound or present himself as a guy any grown man would be afraid to step outside with. All the shitty superplex spots in the world don’t mean a thing if they’re done by a guy who can’t cut a promo without sounding like an entitled douche.

Sarah probably will get punished for your first sentence, so I bet no one hears from her for another two or three months.

If the Rock were her cousin, she'd get a push, but he isn't so yeah, she might be screwed...

  3. They want Seth Rollins to come off like some sort of badass in the worst way, but he just isn’t that guy. Even a little bit. He wasn’t meant to “walk tall.”

i love the Alexa/Nikki stuff, because it’s good for them, and because I think Nikki accidentally costs Lex the match, so the title can stay on Bayley. Everyone comes out without their characters shit on.

That firefly funhouse was fucking awesome.

  4. I think AEW is gonna need a bigger roster than we maybe think, because I think one of the things they’re gonna do to be different is not have guys on tv every week. Moxley talked about it a bit on Keller’s podcast. If the top guys aren’t wrestling every single week, there’s more room for talent, necessitating guys like the Revival, the Good Brothers, Dillinger, the inevitable Ryder signing, et al.

  5. Not sure why people are assuming Alexa is gonna retire. I mean, I get it. I personally would have her get through about six weeks of tag matches with Nikki without a concussion before I booked her in high profile shit again, but they clearly see her as a big star and she's gonna be on top until she can't go anymore. (Insert joke here). I think Bayley gets DQ'ed, or Nikki costs Alexa the match, and their program stays on RAW. If I were booking Smackdown I'd have Bayley go through all the people who have done harm to her career in the past. Have her just whack the shit out of Lex with a kendo stick, have her finally beat Asuka. Have her beat Charlotte clean. Then, if you can get her, do the Bayley/Sasha match on the main roster. The good one. Not the one's they've had.

  6. “I speak the language of violence!”

Fuckin’ awesome. But yeah, let’s shove him aside so Seth Rollins can drone on endlessly about how he loves the business. Sorry. I’m done doing that, I promise.

you know Triple H had to be watching that like...”fuck.”

The only thing I can think of is that out of everyone on the roster, Bayley is going to be the safest person for Alexa to wrestle.

Alexa took a boot from Charlotte in that match last night that I was reasonably sure was going to end her career...

Same here. Man that feud in 2017 made Bayley look bad.

Tad surprised they went with Bliss with how little she's wrestled this year. On and off again.

Alexa is scheduled with Becky in house shows this summer, and WWE is clearly doing a thing w her and Nikki Cross. I wonder if Nikki is gonna accidentally cost Alexa the match, leading to stuff on the Raw side..,

It’s hard not to. The gifs, and parody videos were everywhere. That interview did him no favors. Those Stone Cold podcasts did nobody any favors whatsoever really.

I always thought it was bullshit that Ambrose took the heat for that.

  10. I think they should try some other "champion markers" besides belts. They have the Main belt. Let the TV Champ have a ring. The tag champs get medals. The Women's champ maybe gets a belt, but a starkly different one. Not lesser, but different. There's a championship where you win a trophy. Just different shit.

And Moxley has to be one of the first champs. He's the second or third most recognizable face in that company right now, and I could see him showing up on TNT with the title, the NJPW US Title, and assorted other shit. Make him seem like a big-ass deal.

  11. There was also a point where Moxley references Vince paying Brock “billions” to either “run” or “ruin” his company. I couldn’t hear, but neither is a particularly happy sentiment toward Lesnar. Understandable...

  12. Yeah, what’re they gonna do to Renee? It’s pretty common knowledge she has a standing offer from ESPN, and whoever mentioned Turner sports is dead on. Maybe she could parlay an NBA on TNT gig w an AEW postgame show. She’s incredibly gifted at everything but what she’s doing right now, and she’s an employee, rather than a contractor, so I’m assuming any repercussions against her could be grounds for a workplace harassment suit...

I've started to listen to the Jericho podcast with Moxley and it's the first time I've listened to Jericho's promo since near the start of it and holy shit is the theme "song" terrible, just awful. I nearly turned it off just cause of that, but so far the interview is pretty decent. I figured Mox was never coming back before this. Him talking before about how he said he thought none of his promos in WWE were great because there was always some scripted part that ruined it plus his video featuring him breaking out of prison told me that he never would go back because he felt too confined in WWE's environment. Plus he's probably made that fuck money so he can do what he wants now.

I thought maybe at some point he’d come back for a “victory lap” with Roman and Seth, but barring a leadership change I think he’s done...

Never knew Mondo was that good.  I’d seen some of his earlier stuff and wasn’t impressed.  I’m not sure if Mondo still lives in Japan and that’s where it was filmed, but he’s always seemed a creative guy.

As someone who’s done a lot of video production, that Ambrose one was well crafted, but there weren’t any especially difficult cuts or after effects tasks in that clip that would’ve required a ton of special ability. I was honestly more impressed by the NJPW “times up” one, which I’m assuming he did too.

im not disparaging Mondo at all. It was well planned and executed. I just wasn’t particularly surprised when Jon said they got it done in two days.
