Guessing not the former NWA champion people wanted
This made me look at the recent former champs and WOOF. The actual answer is they should have flown in Tenzan. He's used to working meaningless multi-man tags.

It's KiLynn King taking on Renee Michelle in Boca Rotan Championship Wrestling, since KiLynn King is the King Of Florida!
Some lead burying here. When did Jaka come back full-time?!?! That match is also a hoot. JD Drake is sooo good at pro wrestling.

Beyond, prestige, and west coast pro all made “big announcements” that they are staying on iwtv. Looks like it was more an announcement for iwtv that not everyone is going to fite.
One of the cornier things I've seen in a minute. That said, I'm 100% team IWTV so let's go

Hope the little Vikingo North American jaunt can give us him versus a real beefcake. Give me Vikingo versus Josh Bishop, Ace Romero, or Krule (I've talked myself into this being a low-key dream match)

Don't love that BOLA lineup but it feels like that's where we might be at as far as PWG style wrestlers on the indies might be.
Feels like IWTV has made indies feel more regional again which is dope but just makes these sorts of SUPER INDY cards harder to pull off. If Hero is in though, count me in 500%

On the Fight Network they were showing tapes of Traditional Championship Wrestling from a few years ago and Tim Storm was the big wheel there. He teamed up with Scott Steiner on one episode and claimed they went waaaay back. The only cool thing about that show was they busted out a replica of the gigantic old Mid-South North American Championship belt for their main strap.
FALSE! They also ran an awesome Chris Masters vs. Lance Hoyt match. So that's at least TWO cool things. Oh, and they made me buy into Michael Tarver. Not sure that's a plus.

While it stinks that a lot of this stuff isn't available for free, I wish there was an easier way to recommend HSWN or PBTV footage from this year in a way that would make people want to watch it. I know it does cost money but for $10/service you can get at least 2+ matches on PBTV and near 10+ matches for HSWN that would have felt right at home here in year's past.

An unjust world has Trent Seven in and Hechicero out.

I feel like this has to be from the same show as that. Mascarita Dorada and Fenix on the same team. What a hoot!

I'm really interested in how the competitive mode will work. There must be a reason they haven't released it until now.
I love the gameflow but I have a hard time to keep going for over a few games by myself. I like to feel like i'm making progress and Overwatch doesn't quite do that.

A vote for Nakamura is a vote for a clear anti-lucha bias.

Uh, wouldn't your last two sentences make it really hard to prove your first one?
When he left the indies.

I watch NXT every week and I cannot remember a good Solomon Crowe performance where I thought he was even close to turning the corner. What "reasonable opportunities" could they give him other than putting him out there to work? He certainly didn't earn anything in terms of a concerted effort and this is a promotion giving Tye Dillinger and Elias Sampson chances. They sure as heck aren't going to put him out there for 20 minute stiff fests which is his indy gimmick. That's not reasonable.
Sami may have been the best 10 minute worker when he left. How many times did he get 10 minutes? How many times was he in matches longer than 5 minutes on TV?
-
By most, if not all, accounts, guys are responsible for coming up with their characters. At worst, they're allowed a ton of input and the chance to try new things.
What did Crowe come up with? Shitty troll doll hacker who doesn't hack and does a rebound headbutt to the midsection as a finish?
I don't know that people are saying Sami outright sucks if he can't cut it in NXT (I know I'm not saying that). They are saying that perhaps he isn't as good all around as people make him out to be if he can't.
Which I think is outright wrong.
Also, what am I missing from his NXT run that I can see Crowe utterly fail as a professional wrestler when given reasonable opportunities?
-
I consider the NXT run a wash for better or worse. He's back and absolutely killing it.
-
Honestly, which international/indie wrestlers have improved in NXT not because of the style but because NXT is a place to "hone your skills"? From what I've seen, wrestlers have just adapted to a different style rather than becoming inherently better pro grapplers.
Not in the voting period but Callihan has another grand match on his resume since his return against Donovan Dijak for Beyond Wrestling.

I have no problem with people disliking Sami. But I also feel it should be noted that if someone is not a fan of the NJPW main event style nor Okada in general that saying someone, Sami here, who managed a handful of great matches in some months could be a greater number than the great matches put on by someone over the course of years.
-
Because Okada has been at the top of NJPW cards for years means he has to have a handful of GREAT matches by proxy?
-
Being lovable earns one a vote over someone routinely having the best matches on NJPW cards in an era that rivals their peak success of the early to mid 1990s? I can't honestly believe that anyone voting for Castle has seen Shibata vs. Ishii.
This is March Madness, right? So since it's not a GWE poll where we're just looking at work, having an emotional connection to someone is going to push that person over the edge for me. It's more important for me to care about my wrestlers to an extent than to recognize them as mechanically great, at least in this tournament where it's kinda a "do what
I have seen Shibata/Ishii simply because, while I don't watch tons of New Japan, I watch the major shows and matches that get pimped, and it is great, but I just really love me some Dalton Castle. I'm not saying that it's the right viewpoint, but it's the one I'll take when I don't see an outright winner immediately.
Fair enough, I can respect that. I still stand by my point that having seen Shibata vs. Ishii from WK10 should basically be a prerequisite for voting on this one. Exposing just that match to some friends and co-workers has resulted in people hitting me up asking when the next big NJPW show is and whether or not I'll be watching it live/having people over.
I'll ignore that match so Shibata has a chance against Castle.
-
Callihan has already had more matches I think are great or near great since coming back to the indies than Okada has had in the last three or four years.
Welcome to March Madness Dylan, I hope this is the first of many absurd pieces of hyperbole I'll read from you this year.
How is this hyperbolic?

Jobbers like Gargano and Breeze get paired off and then Swagger or Ki have to eliminated in Round 1? This is some horsepucky.
-
Problem for Zayn in any other round: I don't really remember what Zayn did last year.
Problem for Ziggler in any round: I kinda remember what Zigggler did last year.

Personally I find the Vikingo news one part sad and two parts funny. I can't help but be in awe of the lengths AAA will go to to make sure their budding star can't get super over with non-Mexican audiences.
