I can't wait to see the moving of the goal posts from certain posters......

I can, their acts are so fucking tired. If only the "ignore" function could do even more...

  2. Didn't get this show for several reasons and overall it doesn't sound like I missed much - but I'm so happy that Mox didn't beat Eddie in the CC finals. Eddie's always worked best as an underdog on the chase but with decisive wins over Claudio, Danielson, and now Moxley, I think Kingston can work just perfectly as a decorated champion who won't back down from a fight and still has to scrap to hold onto success.

Over/under for when Andrade starts vague-tweeting about how unhappy he is at WWE again?

  3. The Games I Played Through in This Awful Year of 2023!

Alan Wake Remastered - actually still working on playthrough no.2 (Nightmare diff). Really cool concept, writing, story etc but it's very much a game from the past. That said, I just had to buy the sequel for my likely first game of '24. Also, I'd already played Control, which was pretty rad.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 - loved the first and Miles Morales' game, this was good but I feel like a little weaker in gameplay than the previous entries. Absolutely LOVED the improved next-gen NYC. Maybe on the PS6 we'll get to actually smell the random food carts, sidewalk garbage, and random whifs of human urine!

Sea of Stars - RPGs aren't my usual thing but this was free, lauded, and from the folks who did The Messenger, which I loved. I loved Sea of Stars.

GRIS - beautiful and made me cry at the end. Will replay soon to 100%.

TMNT: Shredder's Revenge - so friggin good and the only time I've willingly played online with others this year.

Carrion - randomly tried the demo, dug it and game was like $8 on sale. Fun little horror Metroidvania.

Sifu - probably my game played of the year. I want MORE. Such a well made short little game with incredibly satisfying gameplay.

NiER: Automata - my oldest backlog game to get through this year. Really really liked it, super fun gameplay.

Stray - nice little palate cleanser between bigger games, loved the art style and story.

GoW: Ragnarok - what else is there to say about this awesome fuckin game??? Gonna get into the DLC in due time.

Holy shit. This is the most PRO WRESTLING MOTHERFUCKERS promo of all time:

Eddie could sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves.

Not something I'd normally say - I hope that one day dude gets a giant fucking contract from WWE for a few years and he can bring his amazing version of wrestling to the masses. Danielson got to be "indy guy gone mega over mainstream fan favorite through sheer good wrestling shit" and I can think of nobody else more deserving than Eddie Fucking Kingston.

  5. Brody/Garcia was everything I hoped for and more. I figured early on that Danny was winning since Brody was leaning hard into the shit talk and disrespect, and also they're seemingly good friends behind the scenes so it felt like King was doing something extra special for a buddy. I love it.

Kingston/Andrade also ruled and ended exactly as I'd hoped.

Rest of the show was perfectly good pro wrestling. AEW rules the motherfuckin WORLD.

I hate to even suggest this, because he's one of the last guys I want in AEW, but objectively, this is a very good slot for a one night only Ryan Nemeth appearance. Especially if he's the guy who eats the pin to Starks.

Ryan's in the company so I'm assuming you mean the former Dolph, Nick. Considering he's buddies with a lot of the folks there, I'd honestly be surprised if he doesn't end up signing. Sorry?

  7. So reading through a lot of AEW pondering lately has given me  questions that I'd love to see answered:

    1. Was Orange Cassidy supposed to remain the same character for the entirety of his AEW career, and if not, what SHOULD he have developed into?

    2. With WWE being hotter than ever and having all the more resources to acquire wrestlers who've made their name nationally while being All Elite, what on Earth can AEW do to prevent their top stars from being wooed away for the "big leagues"?

2A. Could AEW ever become "the big leagues" if folks like Orange Cassidy don't evolve into less niche/more mainstream wrestlers?

    🖤🖤🖤

  8. Imagine a whole lotta people enjoying a thing for what it is, and a couple people constantly telling them what they like is bad or going to fail or whatever - you're being a fucking drag and masking it as "concern," which I suppose is better than just being an outright troll but still isn't "fruitful." However, if you keep trying to push the conversation into a place most people have no interest in going, you're bound to get pushback.

Long story short, let people like things and learn to step back sometimes.

Yeah, it's rare that the sequel has less satisfying combat than the other entries. (this could be more idealistic memory than reality). At its worst, the game feels like more of the same. The combat in this one has just been a step down for me.

I think I ended up mostly just treating the fights the same as the first couple games and only occasionally used some of the extra stuff added in, and it got me through pretty much every encounter without major issues. I liked them adding a parry but the timing needs work, if they can tighten it up it will be a nice addition for sure.

  10. A new enemy group is introduced later in the game and lemme tell you, after having no real issue for the first bunch of the game (platimuned both the first game and MM), I definitely died a whole bunch in even random street encounters.

Fully finished SM2 this week, overall really enjoyed it but totally agree on the clunky additions and hopefully they'll be smoothed out for the third game (or likely DLC).
