Fuck, Lou Gossett Jr died at age 87.
It's an Iron Eagle weekend, I guess.
The OG of bringing a movie’s quality up just knowing he was in it.
A good example being I have seen Diggstown more times than I care to admit.

To me GI Joe stood above the rest purely due to the two episodes where Shipwreck is basically living The Truman Show.
I was always partial to the Game Master episode where they team up but yea amazing series.

I saw some of this recently. Piper’s last name is Hell so the title is a pun! No idea why they were going to frog town but Piper is wearing a “futuristic” chastity belt and the acting is a master class to say the least.

My first post from that thread:
Winning a round against Vince isn’t “beating” Vince. Vince beat Eric. WWF beat WCW, and it was all because of Starrcade.
I know I know alot of other dumb stuff happened but they were just nails in the coffin. The coffin was Starrcade. I don’t even buy the “yeah but” concerning Sting being out of shape. Was Hogan in shape? Was ANY WCW champion since a young STING ever in shape? I wish Sting would have challenged Hogan to a lap around the building. It might have killed Hogan. I think I said that in the other 25 years thread. Heck not long after this the criteria for being champion was to be out of shape as Dean Malenko pointed out lol!
So seriously, fuck Hogan. He ruined it. He ruined it all. It was the best build up to a match ever. Better than Hogan/Andre, better than Austin/HBK, and better than everything else. Hogan wussed out of doing business because he’s a chickenshit and a liar. And that’s really all there is to it.
If Starrcade was the cake that killed WCW I’d like to nominate another Hogan moment as the icing on that cake and that would be the finger poke of doom. Such bullshit everytime I hear Bischoff call Dave a “jock sniffer” I wonder how anyone can take him seriously because their was a timeframe, like most of the 90’s, Eric had his head so far up Hogan’s ass he could tell you how Hogan’s breath smelled at any given moment.

WON 2023 Promotion Of The Year: WWE
WON 2023 Most Disgusting Promotional Tactic: WWE ENABLING VINCE MCMAHON AND HIM BEING BACK IN POWER/TKO KEEPING HIM IN POSITION OF POWER
Throw in HHH as best booker and Nick Khan as best promoter.
Then contrast that with WWE’s only other wins being whatever crappy/bad awards NWA didn’t win.

Caught way more of this than usual.
Them using the telestrator now is ridiculous (and it's just because it's McAfee of course). They missed a big opportunity to really WWE it up and slo-mo Solo's spike moving towards the throat, and then just like their usual replays hitting the play button and letting the actual impact speed by so fast you can't catch it.
Seth stole a blind guy's shades?
Jelly Roll, FUCK OFF.
It was pretty cool that they let a team actually support each other without turning on each other through an entire battle royale. Amazing, really. I'd like to know who was the agent for that match.
The main was good except for Jey's complete lack of a moveset. I mean, he doesn't need to be Davey Richards out there, but when all you have is
1. Samoan drop
2. Superkick
3. Splash
4. Spear
and the rest is just punch-kick, you are really working with... nothing. And you aren't Dusty or Hogan either so lets not compare apples to oranges. Your sucky spear being used five times in a row shouldn't be able to crack GUNTHER, sorry.
Oh, and god isn't Truth a national treasure? All the dated references, the staring at the heart-hands and following them like it's a tracking device, this stuff belongs on a comp somewhere.
lol @ the jelly roll line totally agree

Man, I can’t make any excuses for Meltzer anymore. I legit may just unsubscribe from the Observer because that shit is straight up embarrassing.
If you’re not aware he lied/was dumb and said at the Vegas thing for Mania that Rock and HHH filmed a segment challenging each other to a match, but they “shelved” it and it leaked.
Except, none of that happened. He’s referring to the face to face HHH and the Rock had on SmackDown almost 10 years ago to tease a final match or something between them.
I’m not sure what’s more embarrassing - that or the Shibata thing. But one thing is for sure, his writing and thought process are way worse now. I know the joke is that he’s on the spectrum and he might be, but he’s also in his early 60s. He should be sharper than this.
You left out the person at a house show taking a picture of the intermission displayed on the tron and passing it off to Dave as a new PPV being announced. That was GOLD I tell ya.
Dave may have lost a step or two and his sources are damn near non existent compared to the past but he’s still more reliable then people like Hausman/Bix/Scherer and all the other wannabe TMZ style wrestling “journalists” out there.
I personally blame whoever made him clean his office.

It would be a fun piece of booking if Sting starts the match as AEW/Crow Sting, gets “taken out in the back” by the Bucks halfway through, then re-emerges as Man Called Sting for the sprint to the finish. This also works vice-versa. Seems only right.
I like this but he goes to the back gets a dye job and quick hair cut and BOOM we get one last Surfer Sting is like some will this classic movie ever get released in HD shit for me.

So reading how they agreed to the Rock/Roman match on January 3rd and then still doing the rumble the way they did it’s crazy to think this is what counts as “working the fans” in 2024 but here we are.

on one hand, you'd think wrestlers would be good at thinking on their feet, on the other hand, recent wrestling has had a lot less adlibbing on promos than previous generations
there's probably a bit of variety among 80s/90s wrestlers for who would have been good in movies and who wouldn't have..
for example, I don't know if Scott Hall really did any movies, but I'd think if he was in good condition, he would have potential to be good in a bit part at least
Stevie Richards might have been good in "the role that we intended to give Eric Roberts but we couldn't afford him". Maybe they'd give Stevie bit parts as a surfer dude first to see if he could acclimate to working movies as a dude hanging out behind Sean Astin or Pauly Shore.
Well Hall did lose out the role of Scarface but I mean it was to Pacino after all right?

So I didn't read the complaint (didn't feel like I had the stomach for it) but was talking online with a friend of mine who works as more or less a guidance counselor for at-risk kids as he worked his way through it and what stuck out to him was how much Vince was manipulating everyone he came in contact with in this complaint. The poor woman obviously got the worst of it, but he was even having the woman lie about things to Laurinaitis when they first became "acquainted" and he was quite literally Vince's partner in crime (he learned more later and still continued, that sure as shit don't absolve him). Lesnar comes off as a true asshole but it didn't appear at any point he was aware that this wouldn't be consensual.
I point this out as I've seen a lot of people going "of course people knew" and so forth but from reading the complaint what he told me was how much it stuck out that Vince tried to keep several people in the dark about several aspects of all this, with only some people at a corporate level seeming to really get any sort of clue about this and in all likelihood no idea just how fucking depraved it got. I think it is worth keeping in mind that Vince as a matter of his daily life is probably manipulating everyone around him, lying to them, letting them only now certain bits of info, he's an actual fucking sociopathic predator. The actual wrestlers in the locker room probably thought he was a not a good person (especially after all the NDA stuff came out) but it seems very unlikely that Vince this aspect of his existence, for that particular mask to slip in front of them unless they were bizarrely close, and even then I doubt he was ever anything approaching honest.
What are you trying to say with this? Only Vince is the bad guy in this and everyone else just picked days to sleep with this woman because they didn’t know he was pimping her out?
I’d want to read a book about VKM about as much as I want to read a book about the life of Jeffery Epstein.

This feels bad for USA? If it isn’t the home of Raw, what is it exactly?
If TNT/TBS were to lose AEW, not a big deal, as Inside the NBA and other roundball things is their identity.
Without WWE, I’m not sure what USA’s identity is other than being a completely fungible cable TV show and movie channel that you might tune into as background noise when Burn Notice reruns are on.
I get NBCU likely doesn’t give two shits about USA, but still.
The home of the Westminster dog show(and Smackdown I guess).

But yeah, Jimmy is the Dick Clark of wrestling. Youngest looking 80 year old I know.I saw him a couple times when I lived in Tampa. Always had some free swag hat-shirt combo that was a combination of some 2000’s era PPV shirt and hat.
