RIP Dean. In a time when my wrestling fandom was waning, it was people like Dean who went out of their way to show that there was great wrestling out there, there are like-minded people out there in the corners of the internet and yes it is ok to talk enthusiastically about how much this shit rocks. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and other loved ones

This Rampage won't have anything we'll be talking about six months from now but it was a very easy watch.

Carny Dave will be Carny Dave. Hasn’t got a clue. WWE have been gaining traction for months .. even before the Vince debacle and subsequent “refresh”. Laws of diminishing returns on those names now .. as you say, they’re better going back to the youth to some extent. In a bit of a bind for mid-long-term plan but that has ever been the case in ‘22. The fact Jericho is still front and centre tells you all you need to know.
Dave has been strangely doom and gloom about AEW ever since Double or Nothing when by all accounts things seem to be fine on all fronts

I mean, if I'm any one of the top three teams (supposedly Boston, Toronto, and Miami, in that order) I'm using Tsai's tweets against him and lowering my bid. (Not crazy like I joked earlier, but enough to let the Nets know they can't fuck around here.)
If he's really willing to sit on $30m+ for the year for no return, which will cause his team to lose ~8-10 more games than normal... which will in turn upset the other big name on his roster who has also indicated he wants out... Well, let him.
There's value in KD, but if he gets sat on and loses significant playing time, that value goes down. The longer he sits, the more it drops.
I fully comprehend how mad Tsai is and the 'Fuck KD' sentiment, but he's got to open his eyes to the situation and understand he's in negotiations right now. Tweeting stuff like that just hurts himself and his team. Durant has no leverage, but Tsai's is waning quickly too. There's way too much money involved to "teach Durant a lesson" like I've seen so many people on Twitter/Reddit call for.
Swallow your pride and get him off your books. Hopefully salvage something with Irving or get as much as you can for him. Move on with your team.
Like if you're Brooklyn at this point, I don't think you're doing better than Jaylen Brown + a pick

Honestly I feel like AEWs in a pretty good spot right now. Every major network is looking for cheap, easy to produce content to fill ad space and this def fits that bill.

Oh my God, we're going to get FTR+Punk vs BCC at some point aren't we? Maybe I wasn't so evil in a past life after all.
It'd be like the four best workers in AEW in one feud lol. It'd absolutely rock.

So you know how CM Punk is doing a whole Bret Hart tribute thing nowadays? Well, remember how the Hart Foundation started in 1997? Bret came to the ring and interrupted a match between Owen and Davey, which had gotten out of hand and turned into more of a brawl. You don't think there's any chance that that's where we're going, do you?
Yup

While I realize it is literally their job, that is one area I do feel a little bit for scouts. Trying to figure out if an offensive player looked great in college because they are in fact great, or they looked great because because they were on an amazing team with NFL-caliber players all around them. Then on the flipside, a player that looked really good on his team but the team played mostly second tier teams and just figuring out if they would have been great in any situation or just looked great because they put up 500 yards against New Hampshire. Then there is Josh Allen (who was compared to Kyle Boller at the time), who looked raw and iffy, played for an iffy team, played shitty opponents, turned out he's pretty damn great anyway. Its like the lottery.
Course, that's why there are so many misses which is just part of the 'fun' as a fan, lord knows the Bills have had plenty, its almost more luck than skill. That's why I'm generally a fan of trading down to get more picks, more chances to get lucky. Belichick cemented his place in the Hall of Fame for one great lucky pick, few talked about all the bad picks NE made over the years until recently, but sometimes one is all you need.
This is why the Rams operate the way they do. Why take a chance using my first on an unknown quantity when I can get someone like Stafford or Ramsey where I know exactly what I'm getting?

If Kenny's healthy, Omega Okada V is a no brainer. Omega owes Okada his win back, and I don't think the L would hurt Kenny if you attribute it to injuries and ring rust.
Is Ibushi still hurt? Golden Lovers vs any one would be big if possible
I'd imagine BCC will be in a trios match, though that robs us of potentially Danielson vs. Okada (1st choice) or ZSJ (2nd) or anyone else on the roster (3 through infinity) Hopefully Danielson does the G1 this year so we can knock a lot of these dream matches out.
Did Danielson ever face Shingo during his ROH excursion? Dragon Gate USA?
Hoping for Punk vs KENTA too. If Hangman's still champ he'll need someone to beat. Naito? Shingo? EVIL? Yoshi-Hashi?
Fuck, give me Yano vs Orange Cassidy, Samoa Joe vs Ishii, Keith Lee vs. Jeff Cobb. FTR vs GOD
Bryan and Mox vs Suzuki and ZSJ sounds like a lot of fun
Hangman vs Jay 2 feels like it'd be a good thing to throw on this show
-
Solid show
Cole vs Ishii was fine but I was expecting it to be a disaster so it exceeded expectations
Kingston vs Garcia was great
Jade vs Shafir was decent I guess

I think you should lower expectations significantly. There will be good stuff, but they are not giving away Okada/Dragon here. NJPW would want that one for the Dome. We should be looking at this as the kickoff to a long-term period of cross-promotional stuff. They’re not going to empty the chamber right off the bat.
Punk/Kenta seems like a solid bet, though. Especially if Punk is champ. That means more in the US than Japan, and NJPW probably wouldn’t mind feeding Kenta to AEW’s champ.
My guess is that the show will largely be AEW vs AEW and NJPW vs NJPW with a couple big cross promotional matches thrown in there.
My guess is that with the way they framed the show as a Bullet Club/Elite deal last night those matches will probably be Punk/KENTA, Hangman/White and Okada/Cole

Off the top of my head some WWE matches that are *****:
Shield vs. Wyatt’s, Elimination Chamber.
The rematch on Raw.
Revival vs. DIY, 2 out of 3 falls (Best tag match of the decade)
Sami vs. Neville (Perfect long-term storytelling with an awesome Empire Strikes Back ending with KO showing his true colors)
Sasha vs. Bayley I and II (Flawlessly executed and historically important)
Rhodes Brothers vs. The Shield (Perfect tag match and feud)
Charlotte Flair vs. Sasha in whatever the gimmick match was where Sasha had the Banks Statement in the crowd and Charlotte did some insane flip off the announcer’s perch
Santino/Emma vs. Fandango/Summer Rae (Best comedy match ever)
I think I'll throw my hat in the ring as well
Punk vs Cena - Money in the Bank 2011
Cena vs Lesnar - Extreme Rules 2012
Punk vs Lesnar - Summerslam 2013
Bryan vs Cena - Summerslam 2013
Shield vs Wyatts - Elimination Chamber 2014
Zayn vs Neville - NXT Takeover: R-Evolution
Sasha vs Bayley - NXT Takeover: Brooklyn
Revival vs DIY - NXT Takeover: Toronto
Andrade vs Gargano - NXT Takeover: Philadelphia
Bryan vs Lesnar - Survivor Series 2018
Bryan vs Kingston - Wrestlemania 35

Giving the ROH book to Daniels might be a nice experiment to try. Like he obviously is familiar with the ROH product and he's been in the AEW offices since the beginning.

Of course to each their own. Just curious when he's been bad or underwhelming to you? Off the top of my head, I can't think of any.
The FTR match at All Out 2020, the Omega match at Full Gear 2021, the Cole match at Revolution

Certainly everybody is capable of a bad match, but where's the frustration coming from? He, Hangman, is one of the most consistent wrestlers on the roster. Further, he already had a solid to great match with Cole. What indicates the next one is going to be a dud? I ask that question assuming you aren't a 'Adam Cole is not for me' guy, but if you are then you already have your place to lay blame.
This is probably just me being stupid but I think I'm super high on Hangman as a talent so I'm always a bit frustrated when I see a guy like that put on something actively bad when I know they're capable of so much more.
-
Hangman's super frustrating to me because I feel like he's really good but he's just as likely to have a dud main event against Cole as he is to put on a classic with Danielson.
-
I know its extremely early but unless Dragon & Mox get the tag belts and go nuts, I think FTR have TTotY locked up

I think Lee and Strickland could be an excellent tag team, they had a lot of chemistry and double team moves. Have they worked as a tag before?
Swerve’s double springboard moonsault off Lee’s chest was my HOLY SHIT moment of the night,They had a couple of matches together right before Lee got signed by WWE

AEW's been having a real problem with show pacing as of late. The first hour was jam packed with fun stuff then the show ground to a halt between JAS vs Eddie & PnP and Team Taz vs Swerve & Lee.

I don't know, I enjoyed the match but the early stages of the match felt a bit disjointed to me and a few of the big dramatic bits fell flat.

The rumor I've heard is that it's going to be the first PPV they broadcast through MAX, hence Khan's comment about letting WBD be the ones to announce how it'll be distributed.
