Why try and work on someone’s knee if the face’s offense are things like a springboard or a knee strike?

Isn't that kayfabe exactly why you would be working on someones knee? It would be wrestling malpractice to ignore Athena's lower limbs. And Athena sold it like a champ until she didn't. I'd agree that it was unnecessary to springboard her way into an armbar but Deeb was seated for the Meteora and Athena even sold that a little bit before she made the tag. None of that took me out of the match any more than Danielson selling 15 unprotected shots to his head by doing push-ups then popping up to his feet.

  2. After the jail break where he obviously hurt some mofos to get out, you can probably go either way, but from the Vietnam flashbacks to his protecting Tory, he was clearly set-up to have a change of heart. Whether they go that way or not, who knows? He is infinitely better as a villain.

  3. Loved the show though two weeks in a row of Sammy literally showing his ass I could have lived without and to my mind he got way too much offense on Mox. Decent enough match. The standout for me was the women's tag with Danielson-Jericho a close second. Also, we now know that Regal once trained with Pai Mei.

I am already assuming that a major development in Season 6 will be Miguel's dad coming for Carmen either as Johnny is in Japan or about to hop on the flight.

Agreed. It feels like he was built up as such a bad guy that it would feel odd if he was done. But it seems to me like the Johnny-Kreese angle is really what has driven this show all along and will end up being how it concludes, whether the Kreese redemption story turns out to be a fake-out or not.

  5. Seriously, soooo many inappropriate movies as a very young child.. No doubt a by-product of being poor white trash growing up in the boonies of Florida and having few options for movie-going. Probably saw every stewardess, cheerleader, and nurse film ever made. And both of my parents smoked like chimneys with the windows rolled up so that we could hear the speaker better. Some kids had Farrah posters. I was lucky enough to have somehow acquired a beat up print of Gator Bait.  This was balanced out by a heavy dose of the classics on the Million Dollar Movie-type TV programming. And summer children's films at the nearest walk-in theater that you could get cheap tickets for through your school. Films like Ring of Bright Water (That ending! Yikes!!!) and other slightly weird European films, as well as Disney films like The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes

As inappropriate as it may have been, I credit that upbringing with my very wide-ranging tastes in cinema. Thank (insert your favorite deity here)!

I've got 5 likes on this rather than laughs and I'm worried that my sarcasm didn't come through.

To be fair it happens so quickly that you can easily view it as Brock trying to get up but being too loopy from the knee. Not like an "unconscious" wrestler scooting their entire body into position for a dive. Brock is nothing if not smooth.

Damn.  Saloum just broke my heart.  What an awesome movie that was.  I hope there are some boobs on House of the Dragon tonight.   I need cheering up.

  8. The end to episode 6 had me in tears. I'm so old. Also, a Johnny/Chozen spin-off where they just travel the world having adventures is the show we need. Fuck, only four eps left.

  9. Nate needs to go box Jake whatshisname, get completely dominated (like he was in most of his losses) for a decision loss, make a big pile of cash, and fuck off to some beach sipping Coronas for the rest of his life. His shtick that him, his brother, and whoever happens to be in his crew are the only real fighters grew tiresome a long time ago.  Sure he has been hella entertaining but there are plenty of other trainwrecks in the UFC to fill his void. The Nate that took 4 rounds to beat a shot Tony was going to get destroyed by that asshole Chimaev. He needs to quit while people still buy into his bullshit.

  10. It's quite possible that I actually saw one of those Terry Funk title defenses and simply don't remember it as we made about 3 or 4 trips to the Jacksonville matches before moving from Florida. I don't remember much of any of those cards. One thing I vividly remember is Dusty doing a Jesus pose with a chain wrapped around his neck and I'm 95% certain it was Ivan Koloff  holding the chain. So I guess my back-up would be to revisit all of those shows and maybe keep the damn program.

  11. Wanted to vote for Deeb-Rayne just because Serena deserves all the love but Smilin' Madison Rayne made that untenable. So it's Claudio-Dax for me. That bump off the ring post that Harwood took made my back hurt and, in my mind at least, played into the finish. Really good match and more to my tastes than some of the bomb throwing exhibitions from earlier in the week. Not that I don't enjoy a good field artillery battle here and there.
