  1. I just caught up on this over the past couple of days and yeah, it's by far the best thing on television at the moment and I'm not sure it's close. Apologies to The Leftovers and a lot of other real quality shows but I think Fargo having a clearly defined beginning, middle and end for the season helps put it over the top. Just incredible television. I fucking love this show. THIS IS HOW YOU TV MOTHERFUCKERS

  2. I wish The Walking Dead was in the regular forum and not the comic book one. It's pretty far from the comics usually, and it gets way less traffic back here.

The Morgan episode is fine, but it's placement after last week's anti-cliffhanger is indefensible. And it suffers from prequel-itis in that you know that Morgan is going to grow into this Bushido warrior who will not kill and his "master" was going to die.

Also, not sure if the Wolf he was talking to was bit or what at the end. If he's bit, it explains somewhat of the frenzied manner of the wolves that attacked (e.g. They have nothing to live for and nothing to lose).

Morgan's going to die some noble and foolish death this season.

Agree that I wish this thread was in the regular forum.

I liked the Morgan episode and like him as a character. His code and all that makes him different and I'm cool with that.

  3. Chik-Fil-A has come to New York City. It saddens me that my father isn't around for their expansion into this area. One of the highlights of our annual father-son vacation to DC was eating Chik-Fil-A every night. Easily the best chicken sandwich you'll find anywhere, I tried the new McDonalds buttermilk one and it isn't even close to Chik-Fil-A.

Ditto for here on Long Island. It's been open a few weeks but there's still a bit of a wait most times for the drive-thru or even dining in. That said, I had it the first night it was open and it was just like I was in the south. Very happy I have one within 15 minutes of me.

  4. The "air raid" siren from last week was the horn from the crashed semi truck. And I took the zombie in the truck to mean that the Wolves put it in there and ran the truck toward the wall to try to knock it down, not that the zombie was driving it himself.

Who are you to doubt the merits of the famed Zombie Auto School

  5. I absolutely loved the first Moto X, probably more than any phone I've ever owned. Part of it was the "underpowered" processor that actually spit out as good or better performance than pretty much any of its contemporaries. I LOVED Moto's software tweaks with Moto Active (which I still think is much better than Google's Ambient Display) and Moto Assist. The phone was like the little engine that could. I have one with a cracked screen that I just booted up yesterday to reformat because I'm gonna recycle it at a Best Buy and the thing still flies. I was kinda heartbroken when I read that Moto was gonna do away with their software tweaks because I thought they were legitimately useful. I did root the Moto X but not for long. I just loved it stock so much it didn't matter to me.

  6. Haha I know. The 6P looks good but I don't know. Might also have been a "grass is greener on the other side" situation. I'm content for now. I almost still can't believe a Nexus phone might have a quality camera, but I hope it does.

I should also note that rooting and flashing was a big thing I loved about Android. Now that I'm older and working all the time (and value sleep way more than I did when I was in my early 20's), I just don't have the time or energy to keep up with that stuff, not to mention it seems like the dev community isn't as big as it was during the Galaxy Nexus days. I think the latter is because Android has matured so much that there's less of a need to overclock phones and modify the UI's.

  7. So I got an iPhone 6s Plus. I'm coming from a Nexus 6 and I do like it. Some random thoughts:

The camera is great. My Android phone history is this: Original Motorola Droid on Verizon from 2009, Galaxy Nexus, 2013 Moto X and the Nexus 6. None of those phones had a great camera. The N6 was capable of producing good photos, but it had to be in good lighting and preferably of a non-moving object. The shutter speed was very long on it which made taking quality shots of a lot of stuff quite difficult. I thought it was overall a good camera until I started using this. From what I've read, the current iPhone 6s+ camera is slightly behind the Galaxy S6/Note 5 phones, but I'm OK with that.

iMessage is also great. I work in a building where cell phone service is a disaster, so being able to use iMessage to send texts to other iMessage users over WiFi helps negate that aspect.

The battery is really strong, better than my N6 which I thought had pretty good battery life. I would imagine this is probably the best battery you'll find on a smartphone except for the Droid Maxx/Turbo phones.

The screen is great. I didn't expect it to be so sharp considering my N6 had a QHD screen, but wow.

The build quality is really nice and the thing feels great in-hand, not to mention very aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

The operating system is very pretty. Android has come a LONG way from making their OS seem more user friendly and appealing, but Apple just gets it. That said, I notice some stuttering/judder/whatever you wanna call it on transitions, so it's not perfect and any Apple user who calls out Android for being laggy is either lying or living in 2010.

I hate Apple's homescreen/lack of app drawer. Creating folders is far more difficult on iOS than on Android. Also, Android's app drawer is way more convenient to use than scrolling through all the homescreens looking for a particular app.

I don't like that I can't set a vibrate-only alarm on iOS. I have to either buy a $1.99 silent ringtone or go through a process of creating one on my own. I can set a silent alarm but that's not what I need. I also don't like that with 3rd party alarm clocks, you have to leave them running in the background in order for them to work 100% because Apple is Apple.

I miss having a front facing speaker. I feel like the quality of the speaker on the bottom is nice, but it's really not loud at all.

So why'd I make the switch to my first iPhone after having an Android for nearly 6 years? Part boredom with using the same OS for such a long time, partly because everyone raves about iMessage, large part because I wanted a good camera but didn't want to sacrifice stock software (sorry, Samsung. I know TouchWiz is better but it's either Nexus or bust for me). I like the iPhone, I really do. I could see myself stick with it for a while but could also see myself going back to Android down the road.

    Don't kill me, guys.

  8. Anybody got recommendations on HDMI switchers or an HDMI to component converter? I re-subbed to DirecTV today and now have four HDMI devices to hook up to a TV that has only three inputs. What I'd really like:

    - something that doesn't need to be plugged in

    - something that can auto-detect which input is active so I don't have to switch it

    or

    - a simple HDMI to component converter so I can just plug an HDMI device into my component inputs

    Whatcha got?

I wouldn't go for an HDMI to component converter. I've looked into them and most people say it greatly decreases the video quality. Anyway, this might be what you need: http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011001&p_id=8150&seq=1&format=2 I've bought from Monoprice a bunch of times and have never had any issues with their stuff. Always great quality and value.

On a totally other note, I'm kinda in love with the Nexus 6P based off all the articles I've read and all the videos I've watched. I do wish the bottom bezel wasn't so huge because that'd make the height a little smaller. I don't love that there's less screen real estate than my Nexus 6 even though both phones are the same height. But everything else looks fantastic. I really can't justify picking one up since my Nexus 6 still works every bit as well as it did when I first got it back in March, but man I really want a 6P right now.

  9. Count me on the side that doesn't like the show. I'm pretty much hate watching just because I don't want to feel left out in conversations with my friends, although it seems like a lot have already tapped out on the show. There are parts of the show that I think are decent enough, but I find almost every character to either be cliche, poorly written or a combination of both.

  10. All I can say is, don't buy a 2012 Nexus 7. Thing is hot garbage. It was great when it first came out but man it's just unusable now. The performance is terrible, even when just scrolling through/opening apps. I don't really know of any great Android tablets, especially if you want stock but can't do the Nexus 9.

  11. Came by a Gamecube, so I decided to pick up Day of Reckoning (2).

It's outdated, obviously, but loving the gameplay.  No idea why they abandoned this engine in favor of SVR.

I think they went with SVR because it was the engine on the more popular system and was thus, most familiar. From a business perspective, that does make sense, especially when the decision makers most likely don't play video games.

  12. I'm "due" for a new phone sometime before the end of the year and I've been debating whether to get a Note 5, a G4 or to wait for the G5. Looks like my decision has been made for me if the G4 Pro specs on here are accurate: http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g4_pro-7305.php

Specs are great but that phone is either not coming out this year or not until 2016. The Snapdragon 820 isn't gonna be ready until next year. It got pushed back because after the shitshow the 810 was when it launched, Qualcomm NEEDS the 820 to be a big hit.

  13. Enjoy it, Brian. I've had mine since the middle of March and I really like it. Sure, it's a whale, but it's just splendid. Also, with so many phones using the Snapdragon 808 with an actually lower GPU card, I don't really have phone envy.

On a slightly off topic note, I was thinking before about my dream smartphone. It's probably 5.7", has Motorola's software, radios and Turbo/Droid Maxx-equivalent battery, Samsung's camera, display and build quality and I guess that's it.
