  1. I think it ends up with VP Claire being OK with President Francis dying so she can be president. Not sure if she conspires to kill him or merely doesn't prevent it from happening, but that's how I think it'll end.

  2. PSA: tomorrow is the annual Mobile World Congress from Barcelona where LG will reveal the new G5 and Samsung will present the GS7 (5.1" screen) and the GS7 Edge (~5.5" screen with part of it on the side). HTC will probably be skipping this year and will unveil the M10 in a couple of months at their own show.

Seems like most people are more excited for the G5 since the special "magic slot"/modular slot has potential to be a legit innovation. GS7 seems more like a standard upgrade with newer processor, better battery and different camera (12MP vs. the GS6/Note 5's 16MP although the GS7's individual pixels should be larger than those on the previous Samsung models which would in theory allow for far better lower light shots).

I've only had my iPhone 6S Plus so I don't think either presentation is going to get me to switch phones so fast, but if LG manages to clean up their software, they could really make a strong impression.

  3. Definitely sounds like a bad install. I would say that's pretty weird and uncommon for a real update (IE, not because you're flashing a rom). I could understand if the phone died in the middle of the update but for to just malfunction on its own? Odd. Maybe the phone was confused because it's running Android software but the device itself looks just like an iPhone (couldn't resist).

  4. Fell asleep at the end of the Rumble and missed Reigns' elimination live, so hard to rewind. Was bored with almost the whole show except the opener. Granted, I haven't watched a minute of Raw since SummerSlam-ish, so I'm sure that didn't help. But yeah, I usually watch more this time of year since there's no more Monday Night Football but I have pretty much no interest in watching this year.

Seeing AJ Styles in a WWE ring was awesome but hooboy does he look like a midget now that he's in the land of the giants. Reigns made AJ look like Hornswoggle and Reigns isn't even one of the top 5 biggest (size-wise) guys in the company. When AJ tried hitting Reigns with a Styles Clash I just kept thinking "sir, that's not possible because you're too small/he's too big."

  5. I back on the healthy living bandwagon. I haven't started working out yet since I'm waiting to get over sugar and carb withdrawal. Also, for the first time ever, I'm using the TDEE calculator. Using that, I should be taking in just under 2000 calories a day, while My Fitness Pal says it should be 1300 or 1400. I dropped 5 lbs. over the course of a week. I do feel like crap from depriving myself of candy, Cheez Its, etc. every night. It'll be nice once my dopamine adjusts itself so I stop feeling crummy.

When I start working out, I'm doing P90 that came out in 2014, which is the newer version of Power 90. On top of that, I'm going to mix in DDP Yoga and start doing C25K when I can actually start running outside.

When I first started losing weight in early 2008 (first time in my life I ever decided to legit diet and change my life as I had gotten morbidly obese in part because I loved snacking at night before bed), it took me a solid two weeks before I wasn't craving/going through withdrawals of not having junkfood by my bed at night. Always sounds crazy when I compare it to drug withdrawal but it can totally be an addiction. Obviously the effects aren't as severe as actual narcotic use but that doesn't mean it's an easy habit to break.

Really been binging on junk food in recent years, to the point where I sink a ton of money in my job's vending machines (curse you, debit card scanners).  It's a tough habit to break but I need to give it a shot...I don't own a scale so I have no idea where my weight is at nowadays.  What's a good first step in breaking this cycle?

Maybe start bringing food from home? Perhaps if you know you've brought food to eat, you'll be less inclined to buy stuff from the vending machine. Despite my aforementioned eating struggles, I've actually never had to deal with this as I generally haven't worked at places with vending machines nearby, so I can't speak from personal experience. I know when it comes to food in general at work if I bring a sandwich or something from home, it prevents me from going out and getting a chicken bacon ranch slice of pizza and a huge pepperoni roll for lunch.

  6. Barnwells awesome weight loss article seems like a good way to re-kick off this thread for the new year.

    https://medium.com/@billbarnwell/the-easiest-way-to-lose-125-pounds-is-to-gain-175-pounds-b4fca27ffcc5#.q6uhhfva1

I enjoy that he's writing long form articles about the "eat less, exercise more" strategy that he used to preach to me forever ago.

Meant to post this. Read it last night. Terrific read and as someone who lost a lot of weight at one point (115lbs) and gained a good amount back (gained back about half of it) and is now again trying to shed it, I identified with a lot of his triggers and rationals for why to keep eating.

  7. Having used my iPhone for a few months now, I'm probably gonna go back to Android for my next phone. I LOVE iMessage. That part really just works. MMS is never an issue and I actually find I have a better time sending an MMS to an Android user than when I had my Nexus. The battery life is also spectacular. If my phone is charged, I never have to worry about a charger or anything for the day, despite how long I'm out or how much I'm using my device. I can typically go two days between charges. The camera is also really good although if I had one of the Galaxy devices, it'd be a moot point. It's a nice looking phone but again, the Galaxy devices kinda negate that.

But I dislike pretty much everything else about it. I find the OS to be cumbersome and dated. Not having a universal back button is a total disaster. Let's say I screenshot something and want to share it, the options are very limited and sometimes I need to go into the specific program to share it. I don't find transitions and the like to be any more seamless than my Nexus 6.

Of course, I don't know if I can give up iMessage but I feel like the other stuff can be matched by a decent Android device. I don't think iOS suckz or anything like that, but I prefer Android in pretty much every way.

  8. Watching the 07/22/96 Nitro and the Dungeon of Doom has a leprecuan (a quick search says that it's Buddy Lee Parker). The Dungeon really stands out as way too cartoony compared to everything else going on.

I thought this too while re-watching the Nitros. It was funny to see the Dungeon and some of the other real kid-targeted gimmicks linger on during the early nWo run because they really seemed out of place. At the same time though, I think the gimmicky stuff really stands out due to hindsight because we knew how adult oriented/real the era wound up becoming, but that wasn't the standard yet in mid-96.

  9. I loved the first eight South Park seasons, really disliked season nine and I think one or two after before falling back into love with it. I enjoyed a lot of this season but I agree that the finale wasn't really funny as much as it just seemed like the show was trying to be a ridiculous drama.

  10. Maybe it's because I don't have any friends who would fall into the "casual fan" mindset, but I legitimately don't know anyone who actively enjoys the show. I thought last season was very good and I don't hate the show like I did, but I don't think it's great or anything. I mostly watch because I don't want to feel left out of conversations on the internet. If Daryl dies but everyone keeps watching so will I. If he dies and everyone stops, I will too. Maybe that actually makes me a casual fan, I don't know.

  11.

isn't the Rumble match the one where Shawn had the "flu"?

Yup. The Rumble match is barely over 10 min and Shawn is "sick", Survivor Series is way better. Might be Sid's best singles match ever.

The Rumble match also had some asshole whistling really loudly like every 30 seconds.

Was he whistling Sexy Boy like Bobby Heenan? Because if so, that's not being an asshole. That's having good musical taste.
