  1. The last few days I've been watching Hardcore TV again. Watched most of 95. I'm up to episode 126 with the Pitbulls/Raven & Richards double dog collar match.

I can see watching back what made ECW special. Everything flowed into each other and everything made sense(in the context of ECW).

About to see Superstar Steve Austin debut.

Also, Foley has been amazing and I love me some Mikey Whipwreck with The Public Enemy.

With Hardcore TV in particular, it helped that they were able to edit down a lot of the stuff and just showcase the live events best work.

  2. The finale felt like a filler episode. It felt like it was setting up for a finale next week, rather than itself being the actual finale. Rest of the season was quality and the best top to bottom season since the first.

  3. Pro Wrestling has notoriously bad continuity. Are actual soap operas this bad?

In theory, Paul Levesque has been playing "Hunter Hearst Helmsley" for almost 20 years. Of course, it's now acknowledged that his real name is Paul Levesque, but he still goes by "Triple H." What in the hell does "Triple H" mean if not "Hunter Hearst Helmsley?" Why did Paul Levesque pretend to be "Hunter Hearst Helmsley?" By the way, didn't he get divorced from Stephanie in 2002? Why were they suddenly married again as if nothing had happened?

Forget Kane, Triple H's character makes no fucking sense.

Maybe they just wanted to remarry in a normal and non-drugged Steph sorta way.

Hey guys, do you think at the end when Jax had his arms stretched out, he was trying to mimic the Raven character? I mean, they even had a Raven at the end. Maybe Kurt Sutter's a HUGE ECW fan.

    No, it is symbolic.

Ravens are symbols equated with misfortune and death.  Historically, ravens appeared on battlefields after a fight and picked at the carcuses of the dead.

The ravens behind Jax symbolized the deaths and destruction that he caused while riding his path in life.  The outstretched arms meant he was giving himself up to the Universe and letting everything go as he ended his life.

In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth sees the raven as a symbol of misfortune.

I think he was being facetious.

    Good call.

  5. I know people wound up hating his character but I hope he's back as a regular character. I'm a terrible person and really cracked up at his racist/sexist jokes. Also, the cast is so thin right now that having an established character rejoin the show wouldn't be the worst thing.

I am surprised at how much I enjoy late 1995 WWF. They're starting to find their stride a bit. Nash also was a damn hard worker and actually more fun to watch than I expected as I was coming into his title reign. Sure, there were some stinkers - KotR 1995 still sucks on re-watch - but a lot of this stuff is really fun.

Watts was in for a few weeks you know.

Did he book the giant beatdowns like the one where Yoko, Mabel, Owen, and Bulldog beat the shit out of Diesel and HBK and Bulldog pinned Dieselor the one on RAW where like eight guys straight jacked Diesel and 'Taker? Those were awesome on a "Nexus rips up ringside and beats up Cena" level.

I'm to the 11-20-95 episode right now, so I'm looking forward to seeing that again in the next couple of days.

99% sure Watts booked that angle. He wasn't around long though, although long enough to get Russo's foot in the door.

  7. I hate it when rescue missions are for naught. First Sophia, then Andrea, now Beth. If you disappear, it's on you from now on.

To be fair, Andrea's conclusion was one which pretty much every viewer was happy to see happen.

I liked the episode and have greatly enjoyed the season, but I thought the hospital stuff was less than great, namely because I thought Dawn was a bad villain. She just didn't really get me to feel strongly about her either way and if anything, she almost seemed more likable than unlikable.

I also think they missed the boat on Maggie seemingly not giving a shit about Beth's whereabouts all season. Had Maggie mentioned her at least a couple of times, it would have made her scene all that more meaningful. That said, Norman Reedus' reaction was unbelievable and really moving.

  8. I'm trying that Titan 1995 book, and I want to like it, but it has so many factual and chronological errors that it's hard for me to take it seriously.  I'm not talking small things, but just things in general that could've been corrected with one Google search.

I'm not too far in it, but I don't understand why the author devoted nearly an entire chapter to the Randy Savage/Steph McMahon rumors. You can argue whether or not it's even worth mentioning, but nearly an entire chapter?
