Haven't read the book but oh, boy December to Dismember 2006 is one of the worst wrestling shows ever.
I think tomorrow night's going to be closer to Great American Bash 1991 where Flair was heavily advertised but then skipped town for WWE
The caveat being there's 0% chance the ROH crowd turns on PAC-Claudio like the WCW crowd turned on Luger-Windham

Between that and the post-match handshake it seems an awful lot like they're going back face, which makes sense as I don't think anyone wanted to boo them in the first place.
Kenny implied during his post-show promo for the live crowd that he's following the Bucks in leaving the territory
If the last we see of The Elite in AEW is this and then Kenny putting over Ospreay at Wembley, that's pretty cool.
I can't see them showing up for The Phil Show at All Out.

I thought Perry's music was a subtle reference to Shawn Michaels using "Rhapsody in Blue" for a bit in 1992 before "Sexy Boy" was recorded

I've gotta wonder if Hannibal doesn't file lawsuit against WWE and Abdullah, if he eventually gets in with WWE a few years later - the Harvoni "cure" for Hepatitis C became widely available by 2014
He would have only been 31 then

Tony confirms he wanted to charter Eddie on a flight back from Japan to work Claudio:
https://411mania.com/wrestling/tony-khan-changing-everything-death-before-dishonor/
“I was hoping maybe even some possibility that Eddie could fly back to participate in Death Before Dishonor and then go back to Japan, and I certainly would have accommodated the travel if that was possible. It wasn’t possible."

Rush/Dragon Lee/Dominik forming a trios along with Rhea, and then Rush vowing to take Rey's mask would be good
Rush vs. Rey in Mexico is a license to print money

As if there's something wrong with winning the ROH title in New Jersey? Punk won the title in New Jersey. Nigel won the title in New Jersey.

At this point Page isn’t enough. Just do Claudio vs Omega.
Kingston could in theory make the 17-hour flight from Sendai, fight Claudio, and then make a 14-hour flight back to Nagano for his match on 7/23
I'm not sure if "you're winning the ROH title in New Jersey" is enough motivation for him to do that, but stranger things have happened

I was gassing up today at 1 of those gas pumps that has little TVs in it. The commercial that came on was a Slim Jim commercial WITH RANDY SAVAGE.
They've apparently licensed his likeness for a product line called "Savage Size"

This has to be the worst build to a PPV by any major company in history no?
Living Dangerously 2000 famously had nothing announced until the TNN show a couple days before

The past few days we had a lot of talk about Saturday being an unbelievable day for great matches. We'll talk more about it later but people were raving about the FTR vs. Jay White & Juice Robinson match, which was one of the best matches ever on American television, as well a Kento Miyahara vs. Katsuhiko Nakajima on yesterday's NOAH show, Will Ospreay vs. Taichi in the G-1 along with Shota Umino vs Ren Narita, and the Kenny Omega vs. Vikingo match in Mexico City. The amazing this is that because of travel situations, the four men in the tag match last night in Calgary had very little time to prepare for the match and then went out for 58:00 to do a three fall match. We'll talk a lot more about it tonight as well as the other bouts that we get a chance to see.
This might be the closest we've ever gotten to 3 continents having a 5-star match on the same day

Ian Riccaboni Signs Multi-Year Deal with AEW
Fightful Select reports that Ian Riccaboni has signed a new multi-year contract with All Elite Wrestling. Riccaboni has been calling the action for ROH and last night worked Collision and Battle of the Belts VII. He will continue to work Collision while Kevin Kelly is in Japan to cover the NJPW G1. He may also call episodes of Dynamite and Rampage when Excalibur needs time off.
Riccaboni reportedly got “heavy praise” backstage for his work last night. He was actually offered the job full time when the show was announced, but didn’t want to do it full-time for family reasons and recommended Kelly.

Two bits commentary wise:
- Ian caught so many callbacks and references and it added so much. He was essential.
- Nigel's call at the end: "It's genius and I hate it," perfectly timed, is one of the best things I've ever heard.
Does Tony produce the commentators directly like Vince?
Last night Ian shifted between sounding natural, and sounding exactly like shouty-Excalibur, and I'm wondering if that's because Tony's in their headset and they're just repeating what he's saying. The "Instant Classic" lines 10 minutes before the match had ended were annoying.
Kevin Kelly was under JR's learning tree and would have been taught "ignore the idiot on the other end of the headset, but take into consideration what he's saying before rephrasing it" which is why Kevin sounds 100% natural in comparison.

Man, I don't want Starks to flip flop heel face heel like this. He's genuinely over as a baby, seems a waste when he's got so many potential matchups down the line.
If you stick Ricky in Bullet Club Gold, that might actually freshen him up a bit
He's got an Orton aura where fans are going to like him regardless of his face/heel dynamic

Tag match was amazing, Willow match was decent, Punk match blew
Can't believe Liger flew over for a 20 second appearance
David Benoit enjoying himself at ringside was cool
Nigel channeling Heenan at the end of the tag match and frantically trying to call out the remaining time to the heels was great
Ian/Nigel vs. Kevin/Nigel is going to be a big debate in the coming days - pros and cons to both
AEW/ROH Finances, Ratings, etc.
