Wait what does Ricochet have to do with Lucha Underground?
He's a big fan of Mascarita Sagrada and Marty the Moth.

Here are the things you need to know, but will come in and ask later having not read this
First episode is January 27th on El Rey. It's January 30th on Unimas. It's January 31st on TLN in Canada. (It's not on anything else, yet.)
You should not read wikipedia or any place else that has information about the show if you are concerned about being spoiled. Half of the show episodes are already taped, almost all of them will be done before the first show airs.
They'll be airing episodes at least until August, if my math is right. They've said the plan is to resume taping spring/summer, so you may get many more episodes than that.
-
Certain people who were having not great matches in the first 8-9 episodes are not around as much after Azteca Warfare, if that helps.
-
Link on TLN's website.
From Dusk Til Dawn starts the same day and is the lead in, so this looks like a network for network deal and not just picking up the show. Perhaps that could be a similar situation elsewhere?
Similar deals will have to be announced soon if they're going to start in time for season 2.

There definitely appears to be regional lightweight championships and the one big national one, but I haven't ever seen mention of a world lightweight championship. 40s lucha is not something I know a lot about but it would surprise me if there was one. The only group promoting World championships would've been EMLL pushing NWA ones, and there hasn't been an NWA lightweight championship.

He did that rope switch to a 450 in AAW too. I wonder if he broke that out on Lucha Underground already, or if he's working on it for a big show move (because it's definitely a big show move.)
-
It doesn't. It's said as a reflex but Pagano matches are no DQ anyway.
-
Essentially no DQ, though sometimes they still feel like calling DQs.

Mistico's suggested he'd really like to be a Ingobernables in some of his photos, but Mistico so needs to be carried by rudos that I don't trust him to do the carrying himself. I can't imagine him taking a lot of Dragon Lee's offense without it looking bad. I'm not sure there's much a spot for Mistico outside of being Volador's pseudo little brother and running thru two minutes of spots in trios matches.
I'd like to see Puma & Tiger in that spot - you don't want to put one person in that spot to avoid the straight up comparison, I think they can pull off the personality, and it'd be new young guys in the top mix.
-
Still not out of question with the way that lineup went up and then quickly came down.
-
It shows up a lot because it's on CMLL's channel for free (live & demand), other sites reposts because it's in HD and looks nice, and then shows up again when it airs on TV for me a couple weeks later.
If you want just one show to keep up on CMLL, you want the show that airs on Azteca, "Lucha Azteca". It's doesn't always have the best matches and it's a couple weeks behind reality, but the most important stuff is all there.

This podcast with Chris DeJospeh is a good listen.

They seemed to like Vampiro in Season 1 and I kind of expect them to find some storyline excuse to keep him there. They played up the split personality thing, they can work with that.

Nah. She was pushed strong in AAA far before she met Jhonny. She met Jhonny when they sent her to one his boxing matches as cross promotion.
-
While we saw it as Pentaogn Jr. at his biggest push, my guess is the writers were writing it as horror movie tropes - Pentagon Jr. is the serial killer (...of arms) who is taking people out for weeks, and it's surprisingly the blond girl who surprises everyone by putting an end to the monster. All the build was only building up Pentagon to make the upset seem bigger
The problem is a) Pentagon is awesome and the fans really didn't see anything wrong with him breaking people's arms (except when he tried to do it to Melissa) and b) like you said, they treated Sexy Star like she was on one of the best wrestlers and she didn't seemed fearful of the scary serial killer, so it didn't come off as the big upset.
Season 2 starts today. Hooray.
-
They retaped Sexy Star & Super Fly's blowoff match.
They also retaped the trios tournament Sexy Star, Pentagon Jr., Super Fly versus Big Ryck, the Mack and Kill Shot. I was there for that, and my recollection is that might have been on the Mack's team and on creative changes and had little to do with Sexy Star. The finish took two takes, but they changed the whole match - the first match had a a spot where zero fear Pentagon Jr. backed down from Big Ryck, Mack & Kill Shot had a tag team finisher that wasn't working right are the two things I remember for sure.
-
I thought the other day that, if I had the ability and money to make a lucha documentary (or even a good oral history), I'd interview everyone I could associated with the formation of AAA and that first show. Kind of at that point where it's far enough in the past that people might be willing to talk openly about the background of it but getting to that point where people might not be able to talk about it.
-
Sexy Star's is back with AAA next Thursday so I think she's coming back.
-
poor Nuevo Laredo promoter
- got a date for October with Rey and Myzteziz on opposite side of a tag match. Great!
- show gets pushed back two weeks after tickets went on sale
- Myzteziz walks out and they're left in the dark for a few days
- gets Alberto (and Cage) added to the card as a make good
- Alberto walks out!
- promoter keeps saying the card is still 100% confirmed (apparently is told Alberto will still be there)
- Alberto ain't going to be there, the show is five days away, and there's no other make good they can throw in
like, why does anyone get into the wrestling business? I don't ever understand.

Look. If you found out who I really was, I'd have to kill you. It was for your own protection.

No one really knows what they're going to do with the stream in February. It wouldn't make sense to air the matches on the stream if they're on TDN too, but CMLL is unpredictable like that. CMLL is only on ClaroSports because they're getting paid for it, and they probably would like to still get that money, so something might be figured out.
These are the same matches that are airing on Azteca, so I wouldn't think the show airs on the US equivalents of those channels. But, again, it's CMLL so who knows. It just feels like a waste of energy thinking about this until the TV thing starts.
