  1. Anyone seen 71, the movie about the British soldier in belfast in 1971?

Playing in the 'local' art house this week.

I actually saw this earlier today and thought it was great. There was a few parts where I wished it had some English subtitles since there are some very thick accents. Jack O'Connell was great and hopefully this movie finds an audience.

  2. A few years ago Puck Daddy had an article (sorry, couldn't find it) that had a good way to get rid of tanking. Basically, you keep track of the points a team accumulates once they've been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. The team that collected the most points once they've been eliminated would be rewarded with the first overall pick in the draft. Not only would you get some exciting games featuring teams fighting for the last playoff spots but a Edmonton/Arizona or Toronto/Buffalo late season game would actually be somewhat enjoyable to watch.

  3. I was listening to the latest episode of Cheap Heat and they were interviewing Samoa Joe and MVP. During the interview MVP says that he only had two regrets during his run with WWE. The first is that he didn't get to do a promo with the Rock and the second is that he really wanted to legit punch some unnamed person in the face.

Any ideas of who he could be talking about? I'm guessing Randy Orton simply because MVP would've been there for his shit disturber phase.

  4. Chicago in 5

    Los Angeles in 6

    Pitttsburgh in 7

    Boston in 6

Bonus question #1: Montreal Canadiens power play goals in round 2 - Four

    Bonus question #2: over/under - 4.5 overtime games in round 2 (4 overtimes or less = under, 5 ore more = over) - Over

Bonus question #3:  total of Patrick Kane goals + Jonathan Toews assists in round 2 - Five

  5. I know I'm late to the party on this but just picked it up last week and am really enjoying it. I've almost filled up all 100 of the CAW spots. I had a blast thinking of the most random guys and arena's. I had an awesome Stan Hansen/Bruiser Brody match in a Stampede Wrestling ring and had a Rougeau Brothers vs. Powers of Pain tag match. I don't know how anyone can't enjoy this game.

  6.

Well the silver lining to the injury to Tavares might mean that we'll actually get the World Cup of Hockey back. Not that anyone wanted to see Tavares or any other NHL player get hurt in the Olympics but you have to think that this is what the owners and the league were waiting for to help their case for keeping NHL players out of the Olympics.

I don't think the NHL ever had any interest in preventing the players going to the Olympics.  That's unbelievably great advertising for them.  I think they were just talking that up so they had something to trade for something else they wanted in the CBA negotiations.  You never hear NHL owner complain about the Olympics outside of lockouts.

Ed Snider was complaining about the NHL's involvement a few weeks ago. http://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey/2014/02/06/philadelphia_flyers_chairman_ed_snider_rips_nhl_involvement_in_winter_olympics.html

Although that's Ed Snider and he complains about everything. But still, I'm guessing most owners feel the same way but just aren't out in the media complaining about it.

  7. I do agree with you that the league has way too many pre-season games. Yes, the all-star game is a joke but it at least financially helps those teams and their city who host the game. A team like the Columbus Blue Jackets are really going to benefit by hosting that game next year.

Trust me, I've been enjoying the hockey but I can definitely understand why the league and the teams are against players participating in the Olympics.

  8. I really have to question how the NHL benefits from having it's players at the Olympics. Are people going to all of a sudden start going to games in Florida? Are more people going to start watching games on TV? Perhaps if the US wins gold it might help for a bit. I know any publicity is good but there's no way any other professional league in North America would shut down mid season to let their best players go to drum up some good will for their league.

  10. I like Dustin Brown. But 8 years/$47 million is really excessive.

That's a bad contract. You know in the fourth year of the contract that he's going to be playing on their third line.
