Yeah, I almost say the problem was just how people were booked on the main roster. There is zero reason Andrade, Aleistar Black, Ricochet, and numerous others shouldn't be pushed heavily when coming out of NXT.
Look at the homie WALTER. Remember his 2 minute stint in Survivor Series a couple of years ago? WWE just doesn't know how to book people anymore, that's all. They still think that it only counts if it happens in a WWE ring (RAW or SD that is) and if it didn't, you don't know about it. It's legitimately treating the fans like idiots.- 2

I remember this song playing on repeat over and over on the menu of his Best of DVD from back in 2005 (which I had him autograph back in 2009. Have no idea where it is now)

I'm going to be honest, I thought Triple H did a damn good job with NXT until his hand was forced and they made it a 2 hour show on USA Network. Maybe some of the appeal before was that it wasn't "mainstream" and you had to have the network to watch - but I'll be damned if NXT didn't give us some of the best wrestling matches in the past ten years.
Guys like Balor, PAC, Sami Zayn, Adam Cole, Ciampa, you know the names. How many of them would've made it to WWE without NXT? Sami? Probably not just because of size. And that goes for a lot of people. I can't hate on Triple H for that. As a fan, he gave me exactly what I wanted. That Cole/Gargano 2 out of 3 falls match was an absolute trip watching it live. I'm thankful for stuff like that.
Now we get OVW 2.0 which I personally could give two shits less about. Regardless, he gave people chances and I don't put every bad decision (talent hording, wanting to expand [that's reasonable for a business to want to do]) soley on his shoulders when I know he has plenty of people to answer to.

Just to put it in perspective how many releases there have been.
Between 2014 and 2019, there were a rough total of 120 superstars that were released.
Between 2020 and 2021? 110 total released wrestlers.- 2

AEW rankings in WWE form from reddit got a nice chuckle out of me. Look at those records~!

Let's be honest, in WWE are we surprised at all.

Is there a logical reason why they are cutting so much talent? I understand spring cleaning/summer cleaning whatever you want to call it, but I think we can all agree this past month or two has been arguably the most egregious list of releases I have ever seen. And just when you think it's done, they keep going and going. No damn way this is ALL for cost cutting measures.

As far as the referee topic goes, I've always just gone with "each referee chooses how hard to enforce certain rules".
It's no difference than James Harden getting a foul called on him every drive down the lane one game vs. no fouls called the next game. They're the same exact thing, but it comes down to referees discretion. Similar to baseball and strike zones. Not all of them are exactly the same. I see referees like Rick Knox as "this guy wants there to be a legit winner and loser" here vs. "we're gonna let a penalty decide the outcome of this game here". No different than referees "letting them play" and any of you who watch sports know that's a thing. Or UFC referees letting guys get an extra 10 seconds to get back up when they're clearly KO'ed (hey Herb Dean!) lol- 2

Imagine kids like Daniel getting a shot on WWE tv. Whether Garcia gets signed or not, this featured live tv time is going to be invaluable for his career growth moving forward. And for his indy bookings and rate.
That's one thing that I love about AEW is they legit let anyone get a shot. There's a guy from my town up here who's been wrestling on the indy's for about ten plus years now and HE got a match on Dark next week. And while that may just be a Dark match, the amount of people who are at least getting a shot on their programming is incredible. Much to your point of guys like Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta, Nick Gage, and then throw in the open challenge from last year with Warhorse and Kingston/Starks who got jobs from it, a lot of people are getting national TV exposure who otherwise wouldn't. Even someone like Kamille from the NWA.

Daniel Garcia vs. Darby Allin announced for Dynamite next week. Can't wait to see more of Garcia, he seemed pretty explosive and looked to "maximize his minutes" last night.

This sets up well for Cody being the 3rd man. "Nobody was there to help me. I've done everything for AEW. Yada Yada" Let him take however long off (a couple of months I'd imagine) and come Full Gear we can have our Bash at the Beach.

That's what I heard as well, so I am surprised they are going back to the logo on the canvas look for Rampage only. It will be a welcomed addition though as I personally enjoyed it before and it was one small thing that separates the north from the south if ya know what I'm saying.

I get what everyone is saying, but come on, sensitivity training? Really? The only line I'd argue is really that bad was the one on Julia but that's because she is 19. Now, who am I to say he didn't clear it with her first? This feud has been going for a couple of weeks now, so to think the wrestlers don't talk to each other at all would be a little naive right? This is like the 3rd or 4th time Max has used a sexual line against her too (I remember the Eiffel Tower one and then the baugette).
I'd even go as far as saying Griff or Brian would probably speak up for Julia if it was anything. They seem like good enough dudes, but I can't judge Max Casters personality and if he's a "good person" off of a wrestling angle/gimmick. Bubba said some pretty provocative stuff back in ECW to the crowds but I dont recall hearing of Bubba ever being "degrading" to any females or anything of that nature in the back. Hell, he may not even be the best example but you get the point.

I'm going to be honest, and maybe it's a WWE conditioned thing to me - but having a wrestler return and wrestle on TV instead of PPV of that caliber just seems like a missed opportunity doesn't it? Surely Punk having his first wrestling match at All Out would pop more of a buyrate than Punk vs. Omega just based on the mystique of having not seen Punk wrestle in so long right? I would almost take the "casual fans who would buy to see Punks first match" vs. "hardcore fans who would buy for Omega vs. Punk" because I feel the hardcore fans will buy regardless. The Brock Lesnar/Goldberg special attraction route.
You've already sold out the United Center, you don't need to blow your wad so quickly. Thankfully, that's one thing AEW HAS proven to be really good at - is saving a lot for later as well. The only way I see Punk wrestling Darby at that Rampage show is if Punk has a very very short (like 1-2 months) contract instead of a long term one. Basically, just wanting to do some stuff while AEW is in Chicago, but no interest of the old weekly TV schedule. -

You know why I don’t put much stock into telling your viewers that so-and-so is coming(though they pretty much have) because of that one episode of RAW where the Rock came back out of nowhere with zero tease, or advertisement in his hometown. People thought it was crazy that they did it that way. Following day it turned out they popped a big rating. Someway somehow people find out quick that something is happening, and they need to watch. It’s ridiculous, but it works.
At least the tease that they’ve done worked to sell that big ass arena.
I personally am of the belief of this too - but only because it entices the viewer to wanna see what happens next. If I'm told straight up that Punk is appearing in Chicago, of course I'll be happy, but as a fan, I wanna hear that surprise pop. That Stone Cold interfering in Makind/Rock match on RAW pop or that John Cena interrupting Roman Reigns after MitB pop. As a wrestling fan, I believe the "pop" is what immortalizes certain things forever and the way to absolutely positively maximize that is by surprising everyone with "Look in my eyesssssss, what do ya see" in front of 15,000 or whatever fans.
Dynamite this week is in Jacksonville for Homecoming. I wouldn't do it there, least of all Jacksonville has gotten all the special stuff for the past year and a half. Let the monumental moment happen in a bonafide arena with a large crowd. Let alone Chicago, it writes itself.- 1

"That's right Kenny, the name on the contract for All Out does read Adam... only it doesn't read Adam Page, it reads... ADAM COLE BAY BAY"
Alright, all of these rumors and releases are just starting to make me feel like I'm playing Total Extreme Wrestling again.- 1

Who?
I dont know personally. SRS tweet makes it seem like Coles contact was expiring AND a big name asked for their release and it was granted. I see some people saying it's a part timer.

I'm just saying, it's like WWE is no bullshit just giving AEW talent. And we aren't talking Kona Reeves, Fandango here - we are talking legitimate bonafide players here. Multiple. It's pure insanity.
Plus I see ANOTHER (not Adam Cole) superstar asking for their release that could be granted tomorrow? This could be an AEW world way sooner than anyone anticipated. What the hell is Vince's end game here?

Judging from the information I can gather, Adam Cole's contract is set to expire this month?
Surely there is no way right?

Cody as the third man with CM Punk and Bryan Danielson would be absolutely gold. Sign me up for that. The fans would HATE Cody putting himself in that position, I can feel the anger already

I'm more pissed about Monty Brown never getting an NWA World Heavyweight Title reign mid-late 2005 and into 2006, getting tossed to the side for Sting, Christian Cage, and Scott Steiner.
