  1. The Cubs won last night, Rizzo and Castro have both bounced back, and that's about all I got.

Rizzo hasn't just bounced back, he's playing at a ridiculously high level right now. His fielding is still tops in the NL at first, but he's walking way more, and most importantly he's absolutely crushing lefties and succeeding against the shift. The lefties thing is a small sample size, but even against that small a sample size last year Rizzo would have had paltry numbers.

  2. I'd love to imagine a world where he's having great matches with Bryan, Cesaro, Sheamus, Barrett, Cena, etc. However, what most likely happens is he's kept in developmental for a bit, makes a debut on the main roster with little fanfare and doesn't get over, and before you know it he is back in NXT as another Tatsu.

  3. Man, that main event did nothing for me. I don't buy the Ascension at all, and everything they did felt way too lumbering and slow. It wasn't just them though, from everyone involved the timing felt really off and the result was  fairly mediocre match.

  4. I wouldn't put Razor/Shawn anywhere near a best of 95 discussion, it's a borderline good match at best. However, Jarrett/Shawn is great stuff, and it's pretty much a carry job from Jarrett. Shawn's not bad or anything, but the match is Jarrett's style of match, it's laid out at his pace, structured in a very USWA style, and outside of a couple of nice bumps it's Jarrett who brings all the interesting offense, selling, and psychology. It's probably the best match of Jarrett's career, and maybe the best non-gimmick match of Shawn's career.

  5. Just stop talking about "match quality". It will be a cool, historical moment. And like I said before, be more "storyline driven" than "movez driven". Remember, Rickey Steamboat looked pretty good a couple years ago, didn't he? And I suspect, with HHH calling the shots, it'll be done right.

Match quality may not matter to you, but it matters to others. I have no nostalgia for either Sting or Taker, and I don't see the point of them squaring off because no matter how one wants to judge match quality I can't see the quality of a match between those two guys in 2014, or later, being anything better than curiously mediocre.

  6. He may not have been the first to do it, but he was the first I knew of to do the double-rotation moonsault.

He was on Colt's podcast recently and said he hasn't done the Double-Rotation Moonsault in over a year and he has no plans of ever doing it again. It got him noticed, and he's happy about that, but he thinks it's too dangerous of a move in retrospect.

  7. Awful.

Why is Gene's right arm in Popeye mode? Condition I'm unaware of?

It looks like it's a combination of water retention and some sort of diabetic condition. The leathery nature of it is also probably due to years of smoking, it's actually quite common in the elderly population, just usually it affects their entire body, not just one arm.

  8. How does it compare to the Mania match? It's been a long time since I've seen the SS 95 rematch.

It's pretty much a pale imitation. The Slam match is still pretty good, but it makes a lot of mistakes that the original avoided. At a certain point it turns into too much of "Hey, watch Razor hit this big more so that Shawn can bump big, and for some reason Razor is hurt as well." Razor is better in the rematch though, he does some splendid work on Shawn's leg, and for a good 5-8 minutes. Of course Shawn renders it all moot by only bothering to sell the leg for about a minute after he goes back on offense. The other big difference is that in the first the bump set-ups all seemed genuine. In the Slam match there are ridiculous moments like Shawn deciding to jump and splash the turnbuckle in the middle of an Irish Whip just so that he can sit there like an idiot and wait for Razor to come and attack him. The botched finishes are a big problem too, I mean Shawn botches the finish three times and every time he sets it up again like the crowd is not supposed to realize that he's trying the same spot again. Not a bad match, but compared to the Mania match it falls way short.

  9. So, I just found out about this Josh Lueke rape business, and I feel dirty all over for the way the whole thing was handled at the time and is now being handled by most media outlets and MLB.

  10. I think with the Network WWE has shown that streaming is the future of the business. The Network is the first, but in a few years, maybe longer, we're going to be looking at other feds (or maybe even collections of feds) forming their own Networks because that's what the fans will want. It all comes down to price and availability of content, and the old methods of PPV and iPPV just can't stack up to what WWE is showing a streaming service can provide, and for much cheaper.

  11.

No, NOBODY should have to work 2 full-time jobs to get by.

Well, yeah, but it seems particularly sad in his case.

I believe the point being made, by Mike at least, is that nobody should have to work two full-time jobs, but sadly some people do. I'm a paramedic, I'm highly trained and highly skilled and yet my field is one of the lowest paying in America. Until recently most paramedics, unless they are full time on a Union fire department, got either minimum wage or barely above minimum wage. I only had to work a part time job, in addition to my 48+ hours a week on a rig, but I still had to work that job to get anywhere close to making poverty level wages. It's the state of the world man, the majority of people don't make much, no matter how hard they work or how skilled they might be, and so they have to get second, or even third, jobs.

  12. Can you blame them? Alls they know of him is the last few years of his career as they suddenly came out of the hole they live in at the tail end of his career.

Even those years consisted of a Lidstrom Norris and up until the last injury plagued year still being better than Keith.

  13. Yet another reason why I laugh heartily anytime a Chicago fan tries to compare Keith to Lidstrom, or tell me that Keith is better now than Lidstrom ever was. Not sure if this is a thing with Chicago fans in general, or just the ones who live out in the Rochelle/Dekalb/Rockford area.

  14. I'm all for drilling dudes in the ribs or the ass. The pitcher can control the plate just fine by drilling guys in those areas. The head should be off limits though, that's just bush league stuff.

  15. Here's something interesting (and an interesting reminder of how old Vince is). Vince McMahon is only a year younger than his father was when he died and only 4 years younger than his grandfather. Vince seems to be in good shape considering the life expectancy of males in his family.

Court Bauer, who I'm iffy on these days, passed off some story the other day about people seeing Vince backstage being forgetful and showing signs of Alzheimer's. To his credit Bauer did tell everyone to take the rumors with a grain of salt.
