Nobody is scared of Boise winning their conference. No major conference will give Boise the time of day because they bring nothing to the table in terms of TV markets. Nobody is desperate to add Idaho to their footprint.
They've proven time and again that not only can they hang with major conference teams, but they can beat them. Should they join a major conference there would be growing pains, no doubt. But, it's naive to think that the major conferences don't look at Boise and say, "Is it really worth bringing them in and possibly knocking off some of our already established top teams?" That's not to say the lack of a TV market doesn't play a role, it's probably the main factor, but there's also a healthy amount of not wanting to lose face to a team that the casual fan still, misguidedly so, thinks of as inferior to every major conference team.

Another good match-up for Boise. I think we can take this one, but at the very least it will be a competitive game.

My joke meter is broken, does this imply the Big 12 thinks they are better than Boise, or that Boise is better than the Big 12?
I think it implies that they want to add to cream puffs(or as close to it as possible) and not a team that could fuck some of their team up. . .
That's what I was hoping, but I'm out of touch with what the rest of the nation thinks of Boise.

I disagree, football would be huge regardless, it's pretty much an institution of college life and a playoff wouldn't kill regular season interest to any degree that effects the money being made by those who care. And, it would make the playoffs matter more and have more interest when you have the football equivalents of St. John's or Bradly going deep into the playoffs and giving the more causal sports fan someone to cheer for.

I still forever maintain it should be an insane 16 team tourney with every conference champion getting in, filling out the field with the best non champs from the power five, and having the higher seeds host the first two rounds at home.
As a Boise St. fan I wholeheartedly support this idea. I get that the Mountain West isn't a well respected conference, but winning is winning and year after year that's what Boise does. Giving teams from the smaller conferences a shot in the playoffs will only help college football. And in the case of a team like Boise they've proven repeatedly that they can hang with and beat teams from the big conferences, and I would never be surprised by a Boise team doing well in the playoffs, knocking out a heavy favorite, or even winning the whole thing.

I don't have any problem with the videos themselves, and I've never had an ad play in the middle of a video. However, the fact that playlists just randomly disappear, videos all of a sudden are gone from playlists, and that my watch later list will revert to no videos for no freaking reason whatsoever is very annoying.

That's most likely the role they are hoping he'll fill. That or be another trade piece for Hamels if they go down that route.

I haven't seen a film this far up its own ass in a long time. I could feel the Nolan brothers screaming "THIS IS IMPORTANT AND DEEP STUFF"
I see this criticism a lot but it comes off as people wanting to see nothing but mindless action or comedy and limiting what topics should be explored in film.
Nah, it can be, and often is, a legitimate criticism. There are plenty of great philosophical films, that broach on a number of topics. There are even more that are not fully fleshed out, barely touch upon the topic, or present an aura of depth where there is none. Of course, it's all subjective, so your deep philosophy may be my shallow dreck.

Gravity got love because it was pretty. When you take away the Imax, the movie wasn't good.
No one watched it without the Imax.
I watched it sans imax and it remains a great film. I'm not going to bitch Nolan, or any director, out for not properly presenting physics, astrophysics, history, or some other real life element. It's a movie, it doesn't need to be real, just consistent within it's own created universe. Back to Gravity though, not only did it look amazing, but it was terrifically filmed, and I felt the meta narrative was well done.

Rizzo not winning the silver slugger award is a joke. He topped A-Gon in every batting category save for RBIs. Add this to him losing the Golden Glove for the second year in a row despite being by far the best fielding first basemen in the NL for the past two years and Rizzo has some bad meaningless awards luck.

Also, this talk of the Cubs trading for Hamels hurts my brain. I can't quite understand why people would want to see the Cubs trade for Hamels and pick up another FA pitcher, or even think it would happen, when the Cubs could just pick up two of the FA pitchers out there now and keep their prospects. I feel like I'm missing something here.
Realistically they have too many prospects to put on the field, it's always been there intention to trade a few of them for veteran talent at some point.

Russian sambo practitioner/shoot fighter turned Pro Wrestler. He mostly wrestled for RINGS in the 90s. One of those select few dudes who was a legitimate shit kicker and also amazing to watch in the ring. You should look up some of his matches, they're a joy to watch.

Second year in a row where Rizzo is snubbed for the GG, but that's the way that award goes I guess. Did Kyle Hendricks not qualify for RotY? Looking at his overall states I'd think he'd be a lock for at least a nomination, maybe even winning it.

My daughter's favorite animal has always been raccoon's, but now that she's seen Rocket it's raccoon's all the time and everywhere with her. I'm glad my daughter is growing up now, just turned 8, because she's just starting to get into comics and I can share these movies and some of my favorite comics with her while she forges her own comic book identity of sorts.

If you are the Cubs you can afford to wait on a closer.
Top of the rotation starter is a different subject. If you feel that you are 2 years away and the guy is there you make the move.
Personally I think whomever the Cubs get Arietta will continue to prove he's the #1 guy on the staff. Bringing in a Lester or a Shields to compliment him and form a bridge between Arietta and Hendricks with Wada and Wood holding down the bottom of the rotation makes for a pretty good rotation.

I'll pop in just once to offer my opinion and then let his fans have their fun. I think he's a terrible director who has no grasp of human emotion, female characters, how to film action scenes that make sense, and much more. Basically if you were to ask me to describe the characteristics of a shitty director Nolan embodies them all, and his filmography consisting of nothing but bad to mediocre films bears that out.

No one said carry job, but she did call the match, she was visibly the lead, and she was the one guiding the greener Charlotte through the match. That doesn't mean she carried Charlotte, but that via taking the lead she deserves the lion's share of the credit for the match being as good as it was. It also means she deserves the blame for the terrible Figure Four reversal sequence. Like I said, Charlotte has lots of potential, but I haven't seen anything from her, especially on the mat, yet that leads me to believe she's better than someone like Nattie.

Nah, she's really awful. One of the worst on the main roster.

I made the mistake of talking about this with someone over Twitter. He's a Cardinals fan, I'm a Cubs fan, but we're both pretty easy going and accepting of other opinions. Then the flood gates of Cardinals fans opened and the ignoring of the racism and bashing of the Cubs began. Way to stay classy Cardinals fans on Twitter, because clearly the Cubs not making the playoffs is the same as certain members of your fandom being vile racists.

Yeah, they aren't trading Castillo. Unless they pick up Ross, which really depends on Lester, they are going to platoon Castillo with Montero moving forward.
