  1.

Who would be the top female wrestlers in the world right now.

In the world, I'm not sure.. but WWE it has to be either Paige or Emma.

I'll have to give them another shot sometime. I made it about three minutes into their Arrival match and had to turn it off. Super sloppy transitions and moving like a snail to try to make up for not being able to do smooth transitions did not impress me very much.

  2. Just watched the famous Lioness Asuka/Jaguar Yokota showdown from August of '85. Great, great match, but I'm miffed as to what the finisher Yokota used is. It looks like a Knee Cradle Bridging Back Suplex, but I'm wondering if anyone better informed can fill me in with what the move is actually called or if Yokota had a special name for it?

  3. What if WWF hadn't of turned Powers of Pain in 1988 and instead had kept riding their rising level of popularity? I'm thinking they definitely would have been tag champs at some point, and the long term ramifications could have been many, affecting teams like the Rockers and Hart Foundation most notably.

  4. WWF Survivor Series '88

The Powers of Pain turn is really puzzling. Based on crowd reaction it sounded as if they were really starting to get over as a face tag team. I can understand wanting to turn Demolition, but it's puzzling why they took a seemingly about to be super popular tag team and turned them into a heel act that would flame out rather quickly, then stick around for a few years to very diminishing returns before breaking up to no fanfare, It's really puzzling.

    WWF The Big Event '86

Rougeau's versus Dream Team is pretty darn good, mainly thanks to the Rougeau's and Valentine. Talk about a ref dragging a match down though. Not sure who this guy is, but he ruins every hot count spot with super slow counting on his part, kind of makes the kick outs suck when they happen at a one instead of two and three/fourths.

Where did you find this show? I also saw mention of Tuesday in Texas. I looked under the pay per view section, and did not find them. I don't think I saw them under old school, either.

I looked on Roku and iPhone.

I went to the WWE PPV section, on my laptop, and searched for events by year.

TNA would be a waste of bandwidth that could go to something more worthy like GLOW

I've said this before, but there has to be some worthy content in the TNA library. Maybe it's not the best library, but it is one I see WWE wanting to own, and eventually owning. Even if all it gives me is thirty or so worthwhile matches then I'd be happy with that. Plus, variety is king, and adding TNA sometime in the distant future will give the Network even more variety.

There's only so much time. Five, ten years from now, they're not even going to have all of their mid-south and Championship Wrestling from Florida up. I'd be surprised if they had all of Wrestling Challenge up in five years at this rate. Why dilute that at all with TNA? If they buy the library, they should do it to burn it.

There's only so much time for each individual, and their tastes may vary. WWE needs to offer as much content as they can, and to keep it varied. Adding other libraries won't hurt the Network in any way. It offers variety in the programming, which is something they should be aiming for. Giving people the most options to watch will keep the majority, if not all, of their subscribers happy. They don't need to act like TNA, or even the WWC, is a premier library to own. Just offering it is enough, and giving their subscribers the chance to stay logged in longer and making sure that if they are watching content they are choosing to watch Network content,

There's also probably the hope that acquiring a library like TNA, or other more mainstream libraries, will bring over fans from those feds who have been on the fence about the network. WWE should be striving to get as many subscribers as possible, and if acquiring TNA's library will bring in more subscribers and more money (I believe it would) then there's no reason for them not to go after said library.

  9. I've been wondering lately why the WWE didn't go the Triple Crown route and have their heavyweight champion carry around the WWE, WCW, and ECW titles. Heck, go the full monty and toss in the AWA, and WCCW titles as well. I'm sure WWE would never do this as it would be a sort of admission that other promotions were on their level, but I think it would have been/would be really cool.

  10. Okay at first I thought you were kidding...but you poor dopes really are feeling it!

Oh, God...it's like watching a two-legged puppy trying to scoot up some stairs.  It's cute and inspiring at first...but...eventually...

With Baez the hype is legit. He's impressed at every level, and his peripherals continue to improve. I'm okay with the fact that the Cubs won't be good again this year because with guys like Baez, Hendricks, Edwards, Bryant, Almora, Alcantara, Rizzo, Castro, and Castillo the long term approach of Epstein and Hoyer should pay off in 2015 and beyond.

  11. Apparently Matt Hardy's promotion got 2,000 people in the door the same weekend TNA struggled to get 1500 people in the doors for Lockdown. I am just amazed that they couldn't use a photo of Matt for the promo poster that doesn't make him look like a drug addict.

Was Matt ever brought into TNA? Seems like he'd be a logical fit for them, at least he seems like a name that could draw more than 400 fans to a house show. Or, is he tied up to a RoH contract.

  12. Question regarding UWA and LLI. I keep reading that the promotion is actually called LLI, but most people call it UWA because that was the name of the fictional sanctioning body. So, to use an example, WWE has WrestleMania XXX coming up and that event is going to be called WWE WrestleMania XXX. If UWA/LLI had WrestleMania XXX coming up, would it be called UWA WrestleMania XXX or LLI WrestleMania XXX?

The BattleBowl has to be one of the stupidest concepts ever. It's hell trying to keep track of who's where and who's doing what once both rings are being used. Although, I do get a kick out of Vader hanging out in a corner for five minutes or so with a total look of "screw this BS" on his face while everyone else fights around him.

Watching old WCW has reminded me of how much I do appreciate their approach of allowing foreign wrestlers to be themselves. Great Muta is the Great Muta, Masa Chono is Masa Chono, El Dandy is El Dandy, etc. I much prefer that to the WWF/E approach of having to repackage 99% of the foreign guys they bring over.

  14. What do you mean Norman Smiley was a joke?  He was great towards the end of WCW, especially as the hardcore champion.

I don't recall that time period in WCW all that fondly, it has been however years since I've seen anything from that era. I do remember Smiley being played up as a joke though, and being in nothing but mediocre hardcore matches. That's the opposite of the guy I just watched flash his stuff in StarrCade '90.

  15. StarrCade '90

Oh, that pesky Rey Misteric. Seriously though, what the heck happened to Norman Smiley? He seems pretty darn good here; nifty athleticism, brings a diversity to his mat work, and hits a few impressive suplexes. All I remember of Smiley is his joke run near the end of WCW's existence.
