It's funny seeing people complain that the AEW rankings are sometimes random and not reflective of who is actually best.  I guess you all aren't college football fans?  Maybe Mox is just Notre Dame getting ranked higher on name value alone?

It's not that Mox is ranked too high; it's that they released an off-schedule rankings update just to put him as #1 when he had been #4 two days previous. I don't follow real sports, but do any of them have rankings that random?

Another name that hasn’t been mentioned that would be fucking awesome is Andrade

I agree with this more in theory than in practice.  He's great, I know this, but almost every story he's been in since joining AEW has been pretty bad.  I want to see him actually do something interesting on television for a while before winning the title, but I do think he's worthy of an eventual title run.  He's just been in some of my least favorite angles for a good long while now.

Last I knew which was like a week ago, Wardlow was #1 - so when I heard Mox was #1 I was confused.

I get it being "random" though. You're not gonna build to Wardlow vs. Tanahashi and I doubt they want him eating a fall to battle royal winner Moxley either. It put them in a tough position and I guess they figured the best course was to put Mox at 1.

But then again, the whole Wardlow storyline makes it weird. Should he be ranked #1 the day after "signing" in Kayfabe? I dont think Wardlow has ever seen a T5, but it does make me wonder what their plan was with him (maybe a TNT title shot vs World title shot).

I didn't think Tony's explanation was that bad.  Wardlow was #1, but Moxley's win over Garcia was enough to skip to the front of the line.  It's wrestling, if we sit here and try to nitpick everything that doesn't make that much sense, we wouldn't really enjoy any of it.  Pretty much every single sport that has rankings has goofy shit like this go on all the time, and they're supposedly legitimate.  This fits squarely into my perception of wrestling's land of make believe.

Wardlow was ranked #1 in the two weeks after Revolution after winning the ladder match.

Completely skipped my mind, good call.

A story is going around about an edict from AEW to WB Discovery to remove MJF from everything. If this is a work, AEW sure is going through a lot of trouble to make it seem that way (or maybe just maybe it's not a work and AEW/Tony Khan is mad at MJF for his promo when they should be mad at themselves for giving him a mic).

I think it's more like Notre Dame beating Arkansas; a big name beating a lesser name from a known group.

I must have missed something....how did Adam Cole get injured? I've seen him on a few of the "injured AEW stars" lists going around.

Not sure how but he’s not supposed to be back until forbidden door. May just be healing nagging injuries.

At least AEW has started to consider opponent quality somewhat. The Varsity Blondes getting a tag title shot was like if Vanderbilt played D2 teams for 10 weeks then got into the SEC title game.

I kinda like that they keep stuff like that in their back pockets, like how Gunn Club was very quietly undefeated for almost a year or something

I thought I read it was the other way around and that WB Discovery was removing him from advertising and whatnot.

That is the story going around - however Tony did have that tweet a few days before DoN last week about a great meeting with WB executives. I know this may be an absolute long shot, but I really wouldn't be surprised if he got them in on it as well.

This all feels like a "work the dirt sheets" angle the more it materializes.

This is good stuff.

Bryce Donovan claiming that his actual real life collapsed lung happened because Wardlow punched him in the chest? Awesome!

They probably should have done a casino battle royal with Wardlow as the Joker. And have him beat Moxley? And Tanahashi? I'm doubting the value of this as I write it but I'm sticking to it. Wardlow went from Goldberg to Wrath between Double or Nothing and Dynamite so they should not be adverse to radically keeping his push going.

Scorpio Sky has been undefeated for over 400 days, mostly by not wrestling for 300+ of them as far as I can tell.

It's a shame, but anything Wardlow had going for him was overshadowed by all of the MJF shit.  He went from the forefront of the feud to the afterthought.

Absolutely.  The whole thing has some real "little brother throws a fit on your birthday so now you both get bikes" energy.  Except the big brother in this case got a used, broken big wheel while little brother got the best Schwinn they had and ate all the cake.

MJF made the feud not Wardlow - who knew ? Time will show that the Wardlow push was ill conceived - not because he is not talented, but because there was nowhere for him to go after on his first solo venture. He’s not Goldberg - 1 because he doesn’t have that level of physicality (although he can be impressive), 2 because Goldberg went through numerous short arcs before reaching an arc of any weight. MJF should have been an eventual mini-boss for Wardlow, not his first-one-out. Now he can’t beat the world champ, he can’t beat the TV champ, he’s not tested on the mic and he has no real narrative-threat in series. Blew their load on that one.

Hook’s over as hell and he’s been feuding with wrestlers from Dark for months. Wardlow will be okay. This isn’t like whenever someone turned on the Miz to a monster pop and then were worthless within a few months.

Adding to the above, getting married and somebody else proposing at that wedding.
