They gave up a pile of players and leveraged their future to lose to Memphis in the 2nd round of the playoffs rather than the first, and now they have nothing to restock with if Towns blows a knee or Anthony Edwards stops playing like Paul Pierce and starts playing like Paul Giamatti.  There you go!

(BTW, it's hilarious they just traded that many ostensibly late-first-round picks to the team that drafted Gobert...with a late-first-round pick).

That. . .doesn't exactly make me feel all sunshine and rainbows about it.

But I appreciate the explanation!

I think it makes a lot of sense to go for it right now with that group. Warriors are hardly dominant. Suns seemingly slip on banana peels. Lebron can't dominate a whole season these days and the Westbrook gamble shockingly did not pay off. The west is open and this helps an awful lot. They'll need to replenish their depth with whatever they've got in terms of exceptions, but Edwards, Gobert, KAT, and Russell is a fantastic 1-4 that seem to complement each others' skill set.

I just want the Nets to be petty and trade KD to a traditionally horrible franchise like the Kings.  Who in the East has been terrible for like 20+ years?  Magic?  Wizards?

Oh fuck it trade him to the Jazz.  That's punishment enough

Allegedly the Nets and Lakers are engaging in Kyrie for Russ talks. Brooklyn wants LA to take Joe Harris and his two years and 30 some million left, while the Lakers would rather have Seth Curry and his expiring 9 million.

Knicks maneuvers were successful

Fred Katz is reporting the Knicks are going to get a tampering penalty for this.

Because no one else in the league would ever negotiate before the opening of free agency.  Please clutch your pearls as appropriate.

In the same story - Katz says they can avoid it by working out a sign and trade with Dallas so who knows

It's just summer league, but Chet making waves. First player in summer league history with at least 5 blocks and 4 made threes in a single game. 23-7-4-6 in 24 minutes of court time.

Well the Wizards and Bradley Beal are now wedded together forever

In signing his super max today it was revealed that Beal becomes only the 10th player in NBA history to get a full no trade clause

There is also a 15% trade kicker

So Windhorst is reporting that Brooklyn is apparently totally fucking up the KD trade:

1. The Nets fully expected to have a bidding war for Durant.  This has not happened, teams made their offers and that's it.

2. They raised their asking price for Durant after the Minnesota trade for Gobert.  The other teams' GMs said essentially, lol, the Wolves massively overpaid and to get bent.

3. They thought Mitchell would be traded almost immediately after Rudy, which would in turn allow them to raise their asking price again.  But Utah isn't in a rush to move him, so the ripple to the Nets is they're stuck.

4. It seems people know the can't mortgage their entire future for a 2-3 years of KD.  Yes, he's KD, but no one's willing to fuck themselves for the next decade to get him.

Of course not - instead they just give Bradley Beal a no trade clause

Ain't bumping a three year old WNBA thread, so I'll just say here:

Sabrina Ionescu scored the league's first ever 30-pt. triple-double.   It's overall the 3rd T-D of her career.

The Liberty *checks notes* won (hold up, that cant' be right) over Las Vegas.

Apparently whatever beef Dame was having with Portland has been settled. He's set to sign an extension for 2/122 that'll keep him in Portland through 2027. Is $61m the highest annual salary ever?

Oh, and James Harden opted out of his deal to take a $15m pay cut, so the 6ers have some room to sign people.

Been there for 6 months and it sounds like he's gunning for an Always Sunny guest appearance, and hopefully it will end with Danny DeVito having to play SG for Philly.

The Liberty are going to be scary good once their team has had a season or two to gel together. I'd be willing to bet Sabrina pulls off that kind of triple double a few more times in her career too.

If you need another explanation of why the Britney Griner situation actually happened, look at the trophy that the WNBA All Star Game MVP won.   If you like it then you can go on Google and get one for about $20  ?

That trophy is so lame it's hilarious.
