For Great Justice
Well this thread took a turn toward ruining decades of my disbelief. “Coming to the ring, from Branson, Missouri, accompanied by the Baldknobbers….Stone Cold Steve Austin!” Edited April 11, 2022 by For Great Justice

I swear they also claimed he fought in the Blackpool carnivals too.
Ace
At least in his wikipedia bio, he was a shooter at the Blackpool Carnivals.

There are way, way more provincial UK towns w/ reputation for hardness/violence; maybe, as said above, it was chosen simply because of the way it aesthetically sounds off the tongue. Point of order: Darren Matthews the man is from mid-Staffordshire. Steven William Regal the Wrestler is from Blackpool. (It's where he trained. He has always claimed to have done the 'Take on Allcomers' shoot fighting as a Rookie in Blackpool, but most people who know about British Wrestling history reckon the timeline doesn't line up).
Jenalysis
Reality is young Regal was closer to a British Handsome Stranger than a shooter.

zendragon
Best Adam Cole match I've ever seen. But this Hangman - Cole feud just will. not. die. Also best Bucks match I've ever seen. Love Eddie Kingston, comes across as a real person not a guy playing a character. a Real person you wouldn't want to cross. I actually liked the tables match, it was a mess but a mess in the right way. Felt chaotic and violent like a fight not a bunch of strung together spots like in WWE JR really sounded like he was enjoying himself tonight

I’m looking forward to the match because it’ll definitely be good, but did they ever justify why Cole is getting a rematch? I honestly can’t remember…was there a screwy situation in the title match where he has some kind of claim? AEW typically doesn’t do this kind of thing.

But there was also no real reason for the feud in the first place besides "Adam Cole came out after a match and said he wanted a title shot."

The initial reason for the title shot was Adam Cole was ranked #1 and undefeated. Hangman beat Cole at Revolution and shook his hand and was done with him, but Cole wouldn't go away, stole the belt, and was generally being a prick. So now Hangman no longer has to show Cole any respect and is going to put him in his place with a Texas Deathmatch, something he has some experience with after that brutal match with Archer.
Sammo~!
It also feels like the rematch is just something to keep Page/Cole busy until the respective Hangman/Punk and Cole/Omega feuds.
