SOCCER - WINTER 2022

Dolfan in NYC

Winter is here.....

Sevilla has the chance to win La Liga for the first time since Generalismo Franco was still just a General.

Canada has the chance to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since Prime Minister Trudeau was in primary school.

And last...

(so, yeah, fuck those racist and homophobic idiots)

John Fleck returned to action with a substitute appearance against Fulham last night, a month after collapsing against Reading. Glad that Flecky is well enough to carry on his career.

Too soon to write off rivals or is title race over?

Only five times before has there been a gap of at least eight points at the top of the Premier League table at the end of a year and on each of those occasions the leader has gone on to win the title.

The team at the top heading into January has also gone on to win the title in eight of the last 12 seasons.

United is never going to be good again until this team gets blown up.

All that squandered money. You knew it was going to be tough after Sir Alex Ferguson retired but I didn't expect them to fall so far.

In hindsight I admired the classic Fergie Man U cos they didnt just outright buy success like City and Chelsea. Turning away from the academy pipeline and spunking money has fucked them. I reckon L'Arse will get fourth.

Toronto FC is reportedly in the final stages of signing Italian national striker Lorenzo Insigne. Ballsy move...I like it!

Good coup for Toronto but might hurt his chance of going to the World Cup if Italy get past Macedonia.

Newcastle's moneybags era not quite going to plan, dumped out of the FA Cup by a Cambridge team which probably cost as much as three Snickers and a copy of Top Gear magazine to put together.

Arsenal ?

Incidents like today's are doing nothing to put the AFCON on the level of a euro, a copa america, or even a gold cup.

(ref blows the game dead twice before 90 minutes, ignores var, team doesn't come out for the third time after the second full-time whistle)
