Yes - because the story is the other way around from what Tabe said

With next season looking more and more like a make-or-break year for Matt Rhule, the Panthers’ head coach may be making anticipatory moves to stay employed. Jason La Canfora, of CBS Sports, reported that Rhule, and potentially other head coaches in the NFL, may set their sights on the University of Michigan opening, should current head coach Jim Harbaugh be drawn to Las Vegas.

Harbaugh is currently negotiating with Michigan after he led the Wolverines to their first College Football Playoff appearance and their first outright Big Ten Championship since 2003. He had signed an extension at the start of the season to secure him in Ann Arbor through 2025, but, with mounting interest from the Raiders, the negotiations are giving Michigan a chance to convince him to stay. The Raiders are searching for a new general manager as well as head coach, following the departures of Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden. Harbaugh isn’t the only target in Vegas, though. He’ll have to compete with interim head coach Rich Bisaccia, who, despite a season of turmoil, led the Raiders to a Wild Card spot in the playoffs. Jerod Mayo and DeMeco Ryans have also been mentioned as candidates.

Rhule’s interest in heading back down to the college ranks of coaching have not quite been a secret. Sources have informed La Canfora that Rhule was watching the situations at Penn State and LSU closely, in case a beneficial opportunity presented itself.

So Caleb Williams is apparently trending to Wisconsin, as his dad and the likely new Wisconsin OC (Bobby Engram, former NFL receiver and current Ravens TE coach) are tight (and Caleb's dad is extreme helicopter Dad). Caleb also apparently played ball with Engram's son, who is now at Wisconsin.

This could make a lot of things interesting as USC lost both Slovis and Dart, and everyone was assuming Williams was following Riley to USC. Slovis is now at Pitt, while Dart is choosing between OU, Ole Miss, and BYU. OU got Dillon Gabriel, but lost Rattler and Williams.

Wisconsin with a competent passing game could be terrifying.

I can only think of one time in my life where they had that - the one year of Russell Wilson. 11-3 is what they got - not bad at all.

This could go in either off-season thread, but it's looking very likely that John Harbaugh is going to bring Mike MacDonald back from his one year in Ann Arbor to be d cord for the Ravens.

That's disappointing.  He did a good job this year for Michigan.

Also looks like Derek Mason is leaving Auburn for Oklahoma State, because Bryan Harsin is incapable of getting along with anybody who isn’t from the Pacific Northwest.

And now comes word that Auburn OC Austin Davis, who was just hired in December, is likely leaving the program today. Rumors are that he didn’t like recruiting and/or might have an NFL OC job waiting on him. Also possible that he is just another person who could not handle Harsin’s bullshit.

The success of basketball and *checks notes* gymnastics is definitely dumbing down the issues in football right now.

Despite the momentary egg on their face, this is potentially a good thing for Auburn. Davis was a weird OC hire, given that he had all of three years prior coaching experience, none of it in college or as an OC. They at least have the opportunity to make a decent hire. If Harsin is actually capable of such a thing.

Florida/Florida State will be played on Black Friday this year.

It is only the 2nd time the rivalry won't be played on a Saturday (the last time was also on the day after Thanksgiving)

James Madison officially announced today that it will join the Sun Belt this July 1

(The initial announcement in Nov just had said "no later than July 1, 2023")

Makes sense since their last day in the CAA is June 30

Mack Brown has been giving a raise and an extension at UNC

He will now make $5 million a year (he was making $3.5 million) and his contract now runs through 2026

See what a 6-7 record can get yay!
