AEW - AUG 2021

The Natural

The Acclaimed aren't big enough stars to get away with anything that would cross the line.  If they're told to stop it, they will.

They probably would need a talking to at most- the Biles stuff was in bad taste to me, the rest of it was fine and within the bounds of the gimmick.

Really, dude?

I'm sure TK was told the contents of the rap before they went out.

What do you expect him to do, compliment the Varsity Blonds on their amazing hair in his rap?

His job was to offend and inflame...looks like he did a good job lol

I think the Caster thing is tacky but still within the boundaries of "heel says bad shit to get heat."

My bigger problem is that the whole gimmick feels like some limp, dated mid-card indy bullshit.

They should be having not-that-heated feuds with the Holy Rollers or The Ballard Brothers because he rapped mean things about their mom on a PWF show.

Why is it that Miro can cut amazing heel promos with barely any tasteless references other than the flexibility of the woman he's married to, without sounding like a total jerkass like Max Caster or MJF?

I don’t know, I like Miro, but he’s cutting heel promos, and getting cheered like a face. I prefer the MJF’s, and Max Caster’s of the world that don’t come across as likable.

I do think Max is going too far, especially after #Metoo, that I think he needs to tone it down about three notches.

I dunno, the preachy, evangelical, hypocritical MMA fighters he's (hopefully) parodying are at least as offensive to me in the wild as edgelord comedians, it's just hard not to find it charming when Miro does it, because Miro rules.

Caster has a rapper gimmick. His job is to inflame the crowd and insult his opponent(s). He's supposed to be a jerk.

But he has not figured out the difference between ring heat and X-Pac heat, has he?  Neither has MJF.

There is a difference between heat that sells tickets and heat that pisses people off and gets your rental car tires slashed.

And then he gets into the ring and rag dolls guys like Darby and Dante Martin.  Miro is awesome because he backs up his heel promos with merciless assbeatings.

Hopefully they cut the shit, and  it leads to a blood feud with the Varsity Blondes. Both teams need a major program of their own. I wish they can use this to further their careers.

I think this is going to be the pre-show match or 2nd match on the PPV as a tag eliminator.

Really, dude?

What's wrong with a good vagina joke? lol

When I first read the synopsis of what he said I was right there with ya. But listening to it myself it's not as harsh as people are making it out to be. He didn't make fun of mental health. He dissed one athlete, without crossing any lines. Then he joked about those rapid covid tests that were giving a punch of false positives, not denying covid. Then a vagina joke. Like none of this shit even crosses the PG-13 line. Let alone AEW wants to be the edgy R rated company. You guys have become too used to PG wrestling me thinks.

Not a thing if the punchline is Missy Hyatt.

I'll show myself to the out door.

See?  I am perfectly cool with some stuff and well aware that pro wrestling is occasionally at its comedic best when it is being patently offensive (Val Venis; wrestling porn star, HARD GAY Razor Ramon, Shawn Daivari working an evil Arab gimmick complete with a flying carpet assisted top rope splash finisher, Redd Dogg's White Boy Beatdown Challenge), but there are some subjects that are best left alone...

Julia Hart may be a worker, but she's still a kid.  Can we keep the jokes about her girl parts non existent for the time being.  And can we never ever again ridicule someone suffering with mental health issues?

If people are slashing his tires that actually means he’s getting good, real heat because people care and so will pay to see him get his ass kicked.

X-PAC heat is when your presence is annoying because people don’t care about you and don’t want to see you on tv.

People are reacting to his raps live in the way he wants and people are upset about them online days lay, so I’d say he’s actually pretty close to being over the target.

Very different characters though. Caster as far as I can tell is a shithead mid-card geek you want to see get his lunch fed to him, Miro is an unstoppable monster.

I didn't really hear the Julia Hart line, but the line about Biles was just topical internet troll stuff. I'm not saying nothing should be taboo, but he was hardly ripping on mental health. He was basically doing the pro wrestling equal of -

Life was less complicated when I (possibly We?) watched wrestling that was broadcast in Spanish or Japanese.  For a majority of the 2000s that was better than most alternatives broadcast in English.  I don’t speak Spanish or Japanese but move names are universally the same around the world.  Wrestling is “spoken” as a visual language and body language can fill in the gaps as far as feuds and getting over personality goes.

Very few promos or mic workers in the PG era left a lasting positive impression on me.  It was encouraging just how good ROH/PWG/indies workers were.  Sami Zayn spoke (in English) for the first time in WWE.  Daniel Bryan became a great talker without a gimmick or style to his promos. He was good before WWE, especially as a heel, He was just assumed that his promos were subpar because he had few catchphrases and he didn’t put himself out there as flamboyant.

Rapping (or singing) is not cutting a promo,r Cens and Mr Caster, they are both more charismatic speaking like a normal overgrown teenager would.  Hopefully Caster does more of it…unless it is one of their music videos from Dark.  Those spots actually get the feud over.

Good promo from Malakai Black. He’s doing less goofy facial expressions in his acting, and it’s making me take him seriously. He’s really turned this completely around from where he was prior to his WWE release as a wrestling character.

Edit: Oh lord…

I get what everyone is saying, but come on, sensitivity training? Really? The only line I'd argue is really that bad was the one on Julia but that's because she is 19. Now, who am I to say he didn't clear it with her first? This feud has been going for a couple of weeks now, so to think the wrestlers don't talk to each other at all would be a little naive right? This is like the 3rd or 4th time Max has used a sexual line against her too (I remember the Eiffel Tower one and then the baugette).

I'd even go as far as saying Griff or Brian would probably speak up for Julia if it was anything. They seem like good enough dudes, but I can't judge Max Casters personality and if he's a "good person" off of a wrestling angle/gimmick. Bubba said some pretty provocative stuff back in ECW to the crowds but I dont recall hearing of Bubba ever being "degrading" to any females or anything of that nature in the back. Hell, he may not even be the best example but you get the point.
