Pardon my ignorance, but all I know of Nick Gage is that he is/was an indy hardcore guy. Is he a good worker? How would he fit in a promotion with a weekly national cable show?

I mean... if you like deathmatches, he's an okay brawler type. But he has a pretty large cult following on the indies, works for GCW (and is going to face Moxley pretty soon) but presumably he wouldn't be signed to AEW, just a one-off appearance.

I'm into Mox/King enough, but not sure they're gonna be having great matches weekly with just anybody (Blonds, PPs, Martin Bros etc.) ala the Bucks.  I've enjoyed their run as a team thus far, but they've yet to have a really 'great' tag match.  I'd like to see them lose this title fight and find themselves in a bloody feud with another team of their style.  I suspect win or lose, judging from a Dax Harwood 'Quiting' tweet I read, that FTR may be their next in line.

It's a testament to how over King/Mox are that nobody seems to have given a shit that during this team build they were having some of the worst segments on Dynamite a couple weeks in a row.  The boneheaded trailer smash and the even sillier 'We're gonna break Kenny Omega's leg unless Don Callis agrees to give us a tag team match against Kenny and Nakazawa'.  Not to mention they began this team over the Exploding Sparklers.

Eddie Kingston with the Toshiaki Kawada colours he regularly wears, the Mitsuharu Misawa gear vs. Jon Moxley at Full Gear 2019, here's hoping Kingston will wear the orange of Kenta Kobashi or purple ASAP. When I think of Kobashi, it's the orange era first in AJPW and then the purple in NOAH.

So? I'd rather watch compelling, interesting characters work short, stiff matches weekly and save the long epic stuff for PPV than lumpy dweebs  do flippy shit weekly. The Bucks are staler than month old Wonder Bread, and I for one am looking forward to seeing Mox and King just obliterate them.

I'd have agreed with you a few months back, but I've really, really been enjoying their heel act lately. They needed that turn, because they were gettin' there for sure.

I can see that. I've never enjoyed the Bucks either way, so I'm probably not a good judge...

Paul Wight is on guest commentary for the Battle Royal. Hopefully he spends the whole time talking about how everyone ganging up on the biggest guy is SO UNFAIR and truly brave competitors wouldn't resort to such pitiful cowardice.

Prediction: following the match, whatever the outcome, you'll be letting everybody know that you hate the Bucks and Omega, and that you think they 'suck'!!!  Very 'Corny', no?

That would be fantastic.

I’d also pop for a Jerry Lawler 97 Rumble style spot. Headset off, enters ring, immediately eliminated, returns to desk like nothing ever happened.

I don’t think the young bucks suck. I think theyre pretentious & lame, but their timing is good and they always bust out some great offense in between not selling and smarky bullshit.

I think Wight is going to be the Joker, win the whole thing and challenge Omega for the title.

Good outcome. They'd be crazy not to leverage Wight for at least one title-challenge program.

I feel like it’s way early to give Wight a title match, especially since he would definitley be losing.  There’s a lot to be gotten out of him before you feed him to the champ.

I definitley seem them starting some kind of angle for him coming out of this match, though.

SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE  OFF THE HATE

Overall thought is that this is a poorly built PPV with no real draw based on the number of matches built up very quickly or have deescalating builds.

TRIPLE THREAT FOR THE AEW CHAMPIONSHIP - Kenny Omega (c) vs. Pac vs. Orange Cassidy

Story seems to be that Omega doesn't take OC seriously and is looking past him or wants him to stay out of the way. Problem is that AEW didn't feel confident enough in their own guy to actually just make him the contender and shoehorned Pac in here as a secondary non factor. There is no purpose to Pac being in this match other than to make the match better from a stars perspective and in order to justify the World Championship Matches card placement as the main event (I guess? The card is totally underwhelming. I wouldn't main event Stadium Stampede since there won't be a live audience for it. I might main event the tag title match if they are putting Moxking over.)

FOR THE AEW WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP - Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D.

The build for this all seems to stem from Britt losing a match a couple of months ago and everyone realizing she needs to be coronated. This actual feud with Shida really feels like going through the motions and either Britt wins which we've all expected for months now or Shida wins and that seems like a serious waste of Baker. Baker's momentum is still surprisingly high considering she hasn't really been doing a lot but its such a odd build to have your heel be the crowd's choice for champion.

FOR THE AEW TNT CHAMPIONSHIP - Miro (c) vs. Lance Archer

For all of you who thought that Kip Sabian thing was a good idea please note Miro is 100% better off now and you could have had this Miro for the last 6 months. Archer's narrative arc of "I'm after Omega! No I'm not!  I'm after Sting!  No I'm not! I'm after Miro!" has been really scattershot. Jake Roberts has no purpose as a babyface manager but he didn't have a lot to do as a heel either. Match itself could be good, I prefer Miro working against smaller bump guys personally.

FOR THE AEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - The Young Bucks (c) vs. Jon Moxley/Eddie Kingston

A spin off feud from Moxley-Omega which was a good way of getting him out of the World Title picture. I hope that we get protracted face shine as Mox/King rough up the Bucks and refuse to participate in Bucks flippery for most of the match. The Bucks have no where to go after this so having them get brawled out would give them a narrative place to go where they can't force the Moxking triangle into a square peg. Moxking should go over. I'm not confident that they will. IF the godamn Good Brothers run in again with Moxking being shocked by this eventuality AGAIN, I fucking quit.

STADIUM STAMPEDE MATCH - The Inner Circle (Jericho/Hager/Guevara/Santana/Ortiz) vs. The Pinnacle (MJF/Wardlow/Spears/Wheeler/Harwood)

Build is backwards. You are taking a step down from Wargames to a lesser stipulation so you're taking steam off the escalation rather than ramping up. Feud has been in such fast forward with 1 singles match and 1 team match when this could have been drawn out for months of storylines if they had some patience. There are so many permutations they could have done and they... you know... haven't.

CASINO BATTLE ROYALE FOR THE #1 CONTENDERSHIP TO THE AEW CHAMPIONSHIP

Anthony Bowens vs. Brian Pillman Jr. vs. Christian Cage vs. Colt Cabana vs. Dustin Rhodes vs. Evil Uno vs. Griff Garrison vs. Isiah Kassidy vs. Jungle Boy vs. Lee Johnson vs. Marq Quen vs. Matt Hardy vs. Matt Sydal vs. Max Caster vs. Nick Comoroto vs. Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Preston Vance vs. QT Marshall vs. The Blade vs. TBA

Seems like a 'let's get as many people on the card that we can match' to me. The Casino Battle Royal as a concept sucks. It removes the 'OH MAN IT'S THIS GUY' pop of the Royal Rumble and the 'Look at all the people' picture from Battle Royals. With all these people, there are like 3 who can actually win.

"Hangman" Adam Page vs. Brian Cage

"Page needs to be on the card and win" match. They need to pull the trigger on Page. They've just dicked around too long at this point to keep up the momentum he had. Remember when he was on a 8 on the momentum meter and I warned that they were taking him down to a 5 intentionally? He's still at a 5.

Cody Rhodes vs. Anthony Ogogo

USA! USA! USA! Clearly Cody had the idea to use the American Dream name and built the feud around that idea, all logic and such be damned. You'd think draping himself in the flag would be a signal he's going over. But you know, he might want to write himself off the show again for the kid... but he writes himself off the show every month so who cares?

Darby Allin/Sting vs. Ethan Page/Scorpio Sky

Sting can't wrestle anymore. He can't. I think we've seen now why signing him to a multi year contract was a mistake. Expect it to basically be a handicapped match and maybe Sting will leave his feet at some point. Try not to get too worried that he's going to be crippled.

Predictions:

Dr. Britt Baker wins the AEW Women's World Championship from Hikaru Shida.

Kenny Omega retains the AEW World Championship.

Jon Moxley/Eddie Kingston become the new AEW World Tag Team Champions beating the Bucks. Tough one to pick.

Miro retains the TNT Championship.

Sting/Darby Allin.

Inner Circle.

Adam Page.

Christian Cage wins the Casino Battle Royal.

Anthony Ogogo but that's heart over head. I do think Cody will win.

Stadium Stampede II will be the main event when it should be Shida/Baker. I can also see Young Bucks vs. Mox/Kingston going on last.
