Pinnacle vs Inner Circle Stadium Stampede as well. They announced most of the card two weeks out.

It's like when PWG called their third anniversary show "Threemendous."  And then when the sixth anniversary rolled around, it was "Threemendous 2."  And so on.  This year will be Threemendous 6 if they can hold a show.  Math!

So, I touched on this in the Dynamite thread, but thought it would be a good carryover here:

Stadium Stampede *after* Blood and Guts is certainly an interesting choice. MJF popping up after the stupid ass champagne bath last night and saying there would be "no laughs" makes me feel a little better about it, but then I got to thinking about it, so I thought I'd posit this to you all as well: what the hell does a more "serious" in tone Stadium Stampede match even look like?

I can understand the use of cinematic if you're on location, like the Darby/Sting tag or the Matt Hardy stuff, but people are allowed in stadiums again now, so I don't know... The first one was a great idea born out of necessity with COVID, but I'll be honest, I'm having trouble seeing how the gimmick works now. WWE just had Mania in a stadium with a shitload of people. There's no concern that this potentially comes off like AEW... just can't fill a stadium? Don't get me wrong, I hope it's incredible, but I'm wildly skeptical.

MY FATAL WEAKNESS! AAAAAAAuuuuuuugggghhhhhh...

Dudes, you're ALL terrible at math. Last year would have been Quadruple or Nothing, and this year Octuple or Nothing.

Either that or you're all playing D&D 3rd Edition, I guess.

How could you do Cody like that by putting him bottom of the card? America First = Cody in the main, Brotha /s

Seriously though, this PPV is definitely a good candidate for pushing a non-AEW Men’s Title match to the main event, considering star power and story for those involved.

America First = The match with the guy doing the AMERICA gimmick goes on FIRST. Opening match.

Before the PPV starts, on the pre-show.

Great call on that. I'm guessing Kenny retains so if Britt is going over I could see her and Shida closing the show for sure.

Stadium Stampede will be pre-recorded and shown to the live crowd, with the wrestlers transitioning from the pre-recorded segment to finish the fight in front of the fans, like one of those Universal Studios stunt shows like T2 3D: Battle Across Time.

I’m crazy intrigued by the Cody match now.

I don’t care if it only goes 30 seconds but I want the most jingoistic entrances known to man.

Cody needs to recreate Apollo Creed’s famous entrance, hoping TK has somehow bought the rights to ‘American Dream’ or ‘Living in America’.

Anthony Agogo needs one of those entrances top British fighters get, Big Ben chiming, Union Jack walkout suit, Rule Britannia as his entrance music. Hell, find him a little bulldog to bring to the ring, I mean Cody will likely have his dog dressed in an Uncle Sam costume.

To top it off they should import 200 British fans to act like hooligans and do soccer chants through the duration of the match.  Give it that authentic big Vegas fight feel.

I would really love it if TK could speak to AEW's fascination with gambling themed shows, apps, matches, etc.

The creation myth of the company is that it’s a bunch of guys who bet on themselves.

With a packed 9-match card is it going to be another patented AEW 5-hour extravaganza? I hope not, but who knows, the crowd might have enough pent up post-COVID energy to keep hot until the bitter end anyway. Shaping up to be a great show either way. As stated before, praying for the TNT hoss showdown to be a showcase for Lance as much as Miro. He looked okay on Dark with Jake hyping him up so hoping for something good on the big show.

Edit to add: disappointed they haven’t been able to juice up another women’s feud to warrant a place on the show, and instead opted for the live (hopefully turnbuckle bomb-free) Sting nostalgia experience, which will no doubt be entertaining in its own right.

While I'd normally agree that nine matches is too many for AEW, I'd guess that Cody-Ogogo and Darby/Sting vs. Page/Scorpio will be pretty short, and nothing will be super long outside of maybe the World Title match and Stadium Stampede (even Bucks vs. Mox/Kingston should not be the usual 25-30 Bucks epic). Think that Hangman/Cage will be one of the top couple matches on the show as both guys have a lot of prove (Hangman continuing to prove that he's a main level performer, Cage in a big singles match on PPV). Looking forward to the show, and glad that there's two-three gimmick matches on the card (depending on if you want to call a three way match a gimmick match).
