Kushida and Escobar had a fantastic match, but it sucks that Escobar lost the title so quickly.

It's kind of disappointing that Taya is basically Carmella 2.0.

Does this mean Roddy is getting called up?

That was a really fun episode.  They did a really good job of running a lot of different threads and kinds of matches, from both good titles matches to a heated Swerve/Ruff match to a more comedic main event.  For the women, Martinez and Franky are getting set up for a shot at Raquel with Zoey standing in Martinez's way.  Sarray also getting built up with some lofty expectations.  Even Cole browbeating KOR while getting rolled in the hospital local medical facility was pretty fun.  The only thing that felt out of place was the opening with Kross coming out and not saying much of substance.

No it doesn't suck.  Escobar had a good run with the belt after he won it at the tournament, and it is high time that they put the strap on Kushida after he's put over Escobar, Pete Dunne, Jordan Devlin, and a bunch of other guys while in the hunt for a championship match.

What will suck is if they have Kushida job out to Dunne or someone else after holding the title for less than a month.

I probably wouldn't have given that title change away for free, but it's a good call to make now that your program has switched time slots and might need a shot in the arm.

It isn't that surprising that they flipped the Cruiserweight title in that going into last night's show - they only had like what? 2 champions across the NXT brands that were faces

While they do love babyfaces chasing for titles - they probably don't want it to be skewed that much

If you watched IMPACT for the last 3 years, Taya has always been that way.  Although I don't blame you for not watching it.   Could probably argue that Carmella was a Taya version 2.0

Yeah, Taya's gimmick really shifted very far away from the initial leaning in to the whole Valkyrie thing, and more to her being a Real Housewfie of Los Angeles character (who just happened to have the last name Valkyrie and finished opponents off with a move that was called the Road to Valhalla for no particular reason).

Fair enough, my main exposure to her was Lucha Underground and some random indy shows.

Why did Dunne go over at the TakeOver if Kushida was winning the belt here? Because he's a HHH pet project or because they booked this show on the day? Both?

I think it’s fairly obvious they don’t see those two at the same level.

I would imagine Dunne will continue to be positioned near the top and feuding with guys like Bálor, O’Reilly, Kross, Gargano, etc. while Kushida will probably be involved with Swerve, Ruff, Devlin, and the like.

They booked it that way to have KUSHIDA's first challenger (especially with Devlin saying he was having to go back to the UK)

It is fairly standard wrestling booking
