Alternatively, I'd like to see them make a crazy heist movie starring an ensemble of Don Cheadle, Benicio del Toro, Jon Hamm, Ray Liotta, Brendan Fraser, etc.

If they kept it the consistant slower speed instead of doing the odd "speed up slow down's", it wouldn't have been any different (sans clips, which the show seemed to be allergic to this year anyway) than any other year.
Robert S
What will stay most with me of the nominated movies I have seen is some really bad casting regarding age of the characters the actors are supposed to play. The worst offender here is Mank. Gary Oldman plays a guy in the lifespan from 30 to 40. The age of the main character is not THAT important, but the actors playing his brother and wife are 25-30 years younger than him, which really took me out of it. Also the scenes where he is flirting with Amanda Seyfried's character get a completely different feeling when you realize that both were the same age in real life (actually Seyfried's character was close to a year older). Other examples: Sasha Baron Cohen playing a guy in his early 30ies (which was not that problematic, Cohen with the wig almost looked the age) and Daniel Kaluuya playing Fred Hampton, who died at the age of 21. Kaluuya looks like a guy in his early 30ies and it gives some parts of the movie a completely different meaning. Just his look make Hampton feel like a veteran when he really was just a kid finding out how to be a leader. There were scenes when they tried to play that up, but those don't work nearly as well as if they had a kid in his 20ies play the role. I would have had added Maria Bakalova (Borat), but Cohen's "victims" bought her just fine as 16-year-old. We all know why. The other thing that came up, Hopkins wanted to give his acceptance speech via Zoom because he didn't want to travel to the Oscar hubs in Dublin or London. The producers declined that. Alternately, Olivia Colman was supposed to accept the award on his behalf, but the show was ended abruptly.

I'd still rather something was cut elsewhere on the show so it was played the same speed. I'd read about Sir. Anthony Hopkins/Olivia Colman today. A mess. The backlash is less Hopkins winning instead of Chadwick Boseman but more directed (no pun intended) at the show's producers. The flack is aimed there and rightly so. RIPPA
I literally have no other place to put this and this probably fits closest here NBC has cancelled the 2022 Golden Globe awards Quote The 2022 Golden Globes have been canceled, as NBC waits to see if The Hollywood Foreign Press Association will enact changes after its commitment to reform. In a statement made by NBC on Monday, the company said that the decision came as a result of attempting to allow the HFPA to change in the right way. “We continue to believe that the HFPA is committed to meaningful reform,” said the Comcast-owned network this morning. “However, change of this magnitude takes time and work, and we feel strongly that the HFPA needs time to do it right. As such, NBC will not air the 2022 Golden Globes. Assuming the organization executes on its plan, we are hopeful we will be in a position to air the show in January 2023.” The Golden Globes recently came under fire after it was revealed earlier this year that the HFPA has zero Black members, causing controversy over its voting and selection of various nominations. Prior to the 2021 Golden Globes, members of the HFPA promised to increase representation and adopt more inclusive policies. However, various studios and talent in Hollywood have continued to voice their unhappiness with the group, ultimately leading to the cancellation of the 2022 show. As the iconic awards show turns to 2023, the HFPA will look to enact its reform quickly. The first step for that comes with a 50% increase in membership in the next 18 months, according to a Deadline report. The HFPA will also be hiring a CEO among other governance positions and will be implementing various conduct and ethics measures.
