J.T.
Go be a good citizen and exercise your political franchise! The beloved Old Dominion should dominate the Election Day news today as our two main gubernatorial candidates are just short of beating the shit out of each other to settle it. If Sarvis wins, I will buy beers for all 804 guys on the board. Show up at the Tilted Kilt ready to drink. I'll be heading to the polls this afternoon. I've got a BG to brief this morning and this afternoon, I'm providing moral support for my kid as she gets her spacers in prep for braces next Tuesday. To say that she is apprehensive is an understatement. GO VOTE!
DEAN
Voted this morning. Not quite the throng that Bush/Kerry or Obama/Romney draws.
RIPPA
Yeah you would think in VA - one of the few places with "important" things on the ballot, there might be at least 3 people there but my wife just voted in less than 2 minutes. Of course - I am taking my 8 year old with me around 9 and I am sure that will be when all the old folks get bused over and then I will curse. stiffshots
I heard on the news that some fat dude in Jersey is running for re-election, too. And unfortunately, the NJ Elephant Party isn't the political extreme that wants to disarm the entire fucking state, so my choice was already made up. Pretty sure I'm officially an Eisenhower Republican, just like my late parents...
Raziel
Jersey's been locked up, even though our Guv is gonna be running for President in 2 years. I echo Phil's dissappointment, since we got something really important and divisive on the ballot, and I was in and out of my polling place in seconds. Stiff, be a Goldwater Republican. We're the real way to go
RIPPA
I hate every single person on the top of the ballot but the wife and I both are still voting because of the local bond issues - since we actually want things like schools and roads
Kyle Casey
Yeah, pretty much just local elections around here. The only "big" one that's up is our House representative, Rosa DeLauro, who's been in Congress forever. I don't even know who's running against her, that's how locked up THAT race is. We'll probably be in and out in 2 minutes as well.
J.T.
I am disappointed yet comforted by everyone's good behavior. There was nearly a fist fight at my polling place during the Obama / Romney presidential election.

jaedmc
Barack Obama put out an email(well his name is on it but I'm sure he doesn't know it exists.) encouraging Illinois voters to hit the polls today. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/11/04/obama-email-urges-illinois-to-vote-in-election-that-doesnt-exist/ Which would make sense if we actually had something to vote for. I'm so jealous of you guys getting to vote on stuff. I love voting. Can DVDVR have an election? I want to run for a cool sounding office. Like Master of Chancery. Dolfan in NYC
New York City's about to have a Democratic mayor for the first time in 20 years(!!) My former boss Joe Lhota is trailing Bill DeBlasio by 40-45 points depending on which poll you believe. And that's actually down from the 55-60 he was down after the primaries. Welcome back to the age of strip clubs and public sex! WHOO! Also, speaking of getting screwed, NY is about to pass Casino gambling, which is supposedly going to put up to 7 casinos in Northern NY state, but will probably end up with a mega-casino standing in the middle of Times Square. Thus ensuring I'll never go there again until I absolutely have to.
TimWresPowr
The longer this campaign has gone on, the more I hate everyone. I also hate that we got like 10+ phone calls yesterday, there were 6 in the 2 hours after I got home. I'm very tempted to not vote at all for Gov as the choices suck. I'm choosing the guy who I agree with some things he says even though other things he says are batshit crazy. The other 2 guys just totally have stances I can't get behind. The Gov race has totally dominated here, I know very little about the candidates in the other 2 races to the point I'm voting for one guy based on one article I read & know nothing about his opponent. The AG race I'm not voting at all and honestly can't name who the Dem is. I'm actually most curious how the meals tax issue comes out. I honestly don't care how it turns out as I'm mainly just happy they put it up for popular vote as 6 months or so ago there was a big uproar that it was going to be forced upon us. Gonzo
I will point out that CRZ. . .yeah, that CRZ. . .is one of the candidates on the ballot for Mayor of Minneapolis. I haven't seen anything resembling returns yet, but it's still kind of cool.

Yeah I likened the VA Gubernatorial race to a vote between a tire fire and an animal fertilizer fire, both are going to be bad for a while and both most likely will stink

RIPPA
I am still amazed how many people will vote in say the Governor's race and then not anything else on the ballot. I have so many theories and none of them are kind to the intelligence of people

I have so many theories and none of them are kind to the intelligence of people It's so weird because the local stuff is arguably the most important race to vote in. The Governor or Senator or whatever is going to go fart around in Washington or the state capital. The Alderman or Commissioner or whatever lives where you live, and has the most immediate affect on your day to day life. If you get those races right then regardless of what state wide elected official gets the job you can at least say "Well the townspeople of Anywhere, US has competency." America's perspective on voting is really kind of fucked. It probably is elsewhere, but I don't live elsewhere so I don't know. It doesn't take much to do the research for these offices, and it's soooo worth it. As it stands right now voting research comes down to who has a (D) or ® next to their name. Like these parties have really given the citizens of this country reason to trust them at face value. It's so frustrating.
